I never said arranged marriage is slavery, it was just an example. Besides, I don't need a definition to tell me that they both lack freedom. But there's a difference. Slavery you give up everything and you retain nothing original. With marriage, if you want it to be like this, it's possible the only different things will be living together and sex. The only things?! What things will be kept the same? If you're married against your will, everything in your life is completely turned around.

Hm it's a hard choice. I'd probably base it on the name of my favourite street in the world. So I'd call it something like Sartzford Avenue. Come to think of it, that sounds quite nice! (Also I don't think there is a Sartzford Avenue. But the name is quite similar)

If you were driving a car and on one side of the road was a hamster, and on the other side a toddler, you and me both know you wouldn't even consider hitting the toddler :P Well, no. :P I'd hit the hamster - not because I don't value his life, but because I very very much doubt the hamster's parents/family would suffer from his death. However the toddler's family would be completely devastated over their loss and suffer for a long, long time.

I would NEVER accept immortality... I'd be too scared. :uhh:

I'd have the poor thing put down. But it's a hard choice, I'd like to keep it. Personally, I value a hamster's life just as much as anyone else's, but it'd probably be in pain anyway. :( And the finiancial side - it'd be a lot of hassle and the hamster wouldn't appreciate it. It'd be trapped in a cage for the rest of it's life - might as well have it painlessly killed.

That's the point, nothing. Close down your mind. Like I said on my first post in this topic - it's pretty much impossible! :P You can think of peaceful things. Try thinking of fluffy clouds, or a brilliant blue waterfall with a rainbow. But the thing is, everything has a shred of something not peaceful in it. If you were trying to think of a waterfall for instance your mind would wander, and maybe you'd think of things like falling down it or something. That's what happens to me, but psychological nothingness doesn't scare me, except when I think about it as a physical thing, nothingness as in space. :uhh:

I think meditation as in just completely relaxing and trying to turn your brain off is really good. I've tried it a few times - try not to think about ANYTHING. That's my form of meditation, it's impossible! I've never done it and starting to wonder whether it's actually possible! :

I second that. Back to valentines day.. :shock: For the record MILK'S GOOD FOR YA! My parents make me drink a 250 ml glass every day. (I think that's because I'm a vegetarian though) It's not sad so don't be prejudiced against it - there's no reason to be. Anyways I think Valentines Day's too... what's the word... argh I dunno what. I do think it's nice to have a 'special' love day where everyone (Ok, most people) celebrate their love for each other. Though I've got nothing against people doing special things on other days.

What do you get out of discussions in the Off-Topic forum? Usually nothing, as in general people (not excluding myself) always assume people are trying to shove information down their throats, avoiding a good discussion and in general flaming when someone else has a different opinion. How do you find it possible to deduct any type of conclusion from the information of others, information which is steeped in opinion? Um, I don't. That's all it is - an opinion, and differing opinions are more interesting because they allow discussion. It's a shame it always ends in flaming. (I know I'm not innocent of this, me included) Do you even try? Do you really find any point in rational discussion when most people have their idea of truth deeply embedded within themselves? I don't get it. :-s
