  1. for FPS: maybe Call of Duty 1 & 2 for RTS: maybe Total War series (Shogun, Rome, Medieval) I believe demos of all can be found here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_demo.shtml (my fav demo site...all listed on one page...no registration req'd)
  2. I've read pretty much all the well-known series (Tolkien, Jordan, Goodkind, Brooks, Eddings, etc.) A few more that I haven't seen listed (possible I missed): - George RR Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice (amazing series...probably my favorite of all!) - David Farland's Runelords (very good) - Elizabeth Haydon's Symphony of Ages - Tracy Hickman/Margaret Weiss Death Gate Cycle
  3. Doesnt work that way buddy, the fine for managers is if they allow people to blatantly smoke on their pemises, if some guy sneaks a smoke in the back and gets caught, then AFAIK he gets hit with the hefty fine. Thats how it works here in Ireland anyway Yeah, it didn't sound that way at 1st, but as I re-read...it says "if convicted in court for not preventing". Probably not very many scenarios where that would happen. But still, I wouldn't even want that possibility if I was an owner.
  4. America will defintely pass a similar law before too long. California already has one and many other communities do too. My city (in Orgeon) was one of the 1st to make a ban inside public places. They have since expanded to restrict how to close to the entrance of the building you can be (I believe it's 10 feet minimum) and also have now banned it in public parks (this one goes a bit far, imo...it's outside for freaking sake, but I digress...). Regarding the ban in England, the thing that strikes me odd is the fine for managers not "preventing smoking" on their premises. $50 fine for the person smoking and $2500 for the person that doesn't prevent them? So, if a guy sneaks a smoke in the bathroom of your restaurant you get nailed with a hefty fine and he gets basically a slap on the wrist...that seems way extreme.

From what I've seen I am Legend looks quite good. I actually think Hot Rod looks pretty funny, but I'd be hard-pressed to say I'm really looking forward to it...lol. Also, I just watched a trailer for Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon, which I think will be good. I think 10,000 BC looks good, tho not out until '08 sometime
  7. Both the baulders gate series and Neverwinter nights are fantasy, not medieval. Also the crappy Dark alliance hack-n-slash spinoffs from the series are horrible. Completely ruined the games name. Baulders gate I + II on the PC are some of the finest RPG's I have ever played. Also a pro tip to you guys: Just because it has swords and spells and the whatnot does not mean it is a medieval setting! For my contribution I'll put in Ultima Online, definitily a very medieval setting. Yes it was more of medieval fantasy but the game was build in a fantasy world that replicated what you'd expect from a medieval world. well, more medieval that Rome Total War...LOL Or Morrowind for that matter (which always seemed kinda alien to me) or Lord of the Rings. It's been a while since I played Neverwinter Nights, but I remember it as being very medieval/fantasy based. I believe the whole 1st chapter is in a castle-walled city. (imo, most fantasy stories/games have a strong medieval influence) Never said Rome total war/Morrowind were medieval :). The baulders gate series definitely isn't however I think I do remember NwN having some medieval influences. Haven't played the game in a while though. hehe...I know you didn't, I just meant the OP's list. :) I never played BG on PC, just the GBA one and I gather it was quite different than the rest of the series.

  9. 1080 (degrees) got more play time on mine than any other (and that includes Ocarina!). Note: I was going to play my N64 the other day and realized the little prong in the connection cable was broken off...doh!
  10. Baldur's Gate series...there are several different versions. The only I've played was BG: Dark Alliance for GBA (and it was quite good!). Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 - I played 1 some, but not a lot...very D&D influenced
  11. I don't think that's true Daan, I think most people hate the stupid romance subplot. agreed...and made especially so, since Affleck is involved in the romance (and I'm not even a hard-core Affleck hater...I've actually liked him in some movies). As for disaster movies, this one ranks pretty low on my list. Mainly, I see it as a missed opportunity...it had the budget and cast to be really good, but failed, imo.

  13. Verichip is a corporation that has developed microchip implants for humans. These microchips are inserted under the skin on the arm or hand. Identification chips are already quite commonplace for pets, but it's relatively new for humans and these go well beyond simply indentification. The intended usage is for monitoring of individual's medical records, medical status, child protection, financial tracking, wander prevention (alzheimers patients), access control (building security, etc.), plus many more. Additional potential usage could be tracking of criminals (especially sex offenders), military applications (tracking soldiers), and identity fraud protection. It's almost like something out of a sci-fi movie, but in fact is very real. As you might imagine there is a large amount of resistance to this type of technology and it's use in humans. Many people are scared that the government will one day require that all citizens be "chipped". In fact, they believe that some officials in the US are already "desensitizing" the populace to its use. One article I read said a senator is on the board of directors for the Verichip corporation. Apparently, Verichip has a bus that they currently use to visit elementary schools to dicuss microchip implants (the opposition sees this as unfair propaganda). It's really not to hard to imagine a scenario where following another devastating terrorist attack, the US government implements a "chipping" law, requiring all citizens to get one. It would be very easy to make it so all electronic devices require a "chip" for a person to use them (for example, need a chip to use the ATM or debt machines, to accress the internet, or drive a car). Of course, the biggest fear is the possibility of being implanted with knowing it. Currently, these chips are large enough that they would be recognized by the person, but I'm sure they'll only get smaller. There is also much discussion about whether or not these microchips are the "Mark of the Beast", as described in the Book of Revelations: Revelation 13:16-18 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is 6 6 6. I generally, consider myself somewhat of a conspiracy theorist, though not fanatical. I just kind of find it fun to consider the possibilities of a conspiracy and do tend to believe that the US government has in the past and currently does some disturbing things behind closed doors that the general population would be horrified about. That being said, I'm not sure that there is currently an agenda to "chip" the US citizens, but I do fear that if "chipping" becomes more commonplace, it could eventually. I would have to say I would be against ever getting one implanted in me...I simply don't like the idea of that much potential control over my life. The biggest thing that bothers me about the "chipping" is that it goes into the body and cannot be removed by the individual (well, I guess it could with some pain). I'd be less opposed to a tracking device that was carried (like a credit card or keychain). Implants in the body are way too invasive for me. Here are some links: http://www.verichipcorp.com/ http://www.wethepeoplewillnotbechipped.com/ So, how do you feel about microchip implants? Do you think there is any link with the implants and the "Mark of the Beast"? Can you think off additional uses for the chips? (good or bad) Would you ever allow one to be implanted in you? If not, why? Would you allow one to be implanted in your child? Do you think convicted criminals should be implanted? Do you think the opposition to "chipping" are being paranoid?
  14. yea thats it! very cool, how did you find that? http://youtube.com/watch?v=H579lTqHPC0 It's the actual trailer, found it on youtube. I went to "coming soon" section of IMDB.com and changed to Jan. '08. There's like (5) releases for 1/18/08 and that was the only one that fit your description. unfortunately, that trailer on Youtube got yanked already :( Oh well, I'll see it when I see Transformers
  15. I'm guessing it's this...semi-secret project at this point http://imdb.com/title/tt1060277/ http://www.1-18-08.com/
  16. "and propane accessories" LOL!!!
  17. dang 'ol talkin bout king a the hill I tell ya what
  18. yeah, All Ages is basically a "greatest hits" (up to and including Stranger than Fiction, I believe) and 80-85 is pretty much re-release of How Could Hell be Any Worse, plus a few other old songs.

Whenever I hear of Morrissey, I think of the time I saw him on a late night talkshow (might have been Leno). It was during the height of his solo career and the audience was all fired up about him. Bill Cosby was also on as a guest before Morrissey and the crowd had absolutely no interest in him. He started referring to Morrissey as Marcy..."I was talking to Marcy backstage...". It was freaking hilarious, but the crowd didn't think so.
  20. Suffer is definitely one of the best. I think it was actually the 3rd album I heard (after no control and against the grain). It's very hard to place my favs in order, but here goes: Against the Grain (not on your list...GET IT if you don't have) No Control Generator Suffer Stranger than Fiction How Could Hell be any Worse The Grey Race Process of Belief Recipe for Hate 'New America' No Substance Empire Strikes First FYI - their full upcoming album is currently on stream at their myspace page
  21. No Doubt was my favourite in that case :) Yep, I like No Doubt a lot. Hell, I even like some of Gwen's solo stuff. Save Ferris is another...pretty good
  22. Not all are completely chick bands, but have at least female front: The Muffs Dancehall Crashers The Go-gos L7 Veruca Salt
  23. I can think of lots of books I'd love to see made into films: - Pegasus Bridge by Stephen Ambrose (war story of british 6th Ariborne glider landing in France on D-day to take and hold a key bridge). - Fear Nothing by Dean Kootnz (an amazing story...only Koontz book I've ever read, but plan to read more). I think this would make a really great movie. - James Patterson books (I believe 2 have been made into movies so far: Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. However, they have to be done with Morgan Freeman playing Det. Alex Cross). - Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series (this is a pipedream...the books are too massive and there are too many of them...I don't think the series could be done to satisfaction of the readers). - Terry Goodkind's 'Sword of Truth' series (this might be my favorite fantasy series, but once again, there's simply too many of the books...there will be 12 when it's done) - George RR Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series - David Farland's 'Runelords" Series - This one is supposed to actually be made into movies, but had stalled apparently due to a dispute over production rights. Runelords - The Lemurian Stone by Stephen Hickman (a cool sci-fi story I read a long time ago) - Earth Abides by George R Stewart (a fantastic post-apocalyptic story written in 1950). - Ben Mezrich's 'Busting Vegas' (this is kind of the sequel to his book Bringing Down the House...both are stories of MIT students beating Vegas in Blackjack). Bringing Down the House movie, called 21 and starring Kevin Spacey is coming out in 2008...hopefully, it will be popular enough that they'll make Busting Vegas, cuz I think it would actually make a better movie.
  24. Yeah, what college you play for? I'm curious too. You ought to come down here to Corvallis and play for OSU beavers (heading to CWS championship series this weekend to defend nat'l championship..woohoo!)
  25. I have about 40gb, well organized...genre -> artist -> album (if ripped from CD, otherwise no album folder). I rarely listen on shuffle...I typically listen to a specific artist, all their songs or sometimes just a certain album. I also have lots various artist CDs, and a huge playlist of cover songs. Sometimes I like to create custom playlists (comps) with themes.
