Mining is a slow skill, even on granite?

So, I tried to mine granite in one hour to see how much xp i would get..

 

This is the result for me with mining lvl 73 :S

 

 

 

09:43-->1039604xp

 

10:43-->1078199xp

 

 

 

xp/h = 38595 :S

 

 

 

I played nonstop with some lagg.. :-k

 

 

 

Some says that they get 60-80k xp an hour when mining granite..

 

 

 

Is there problem with my pick or what is it? please reply and tell me what your xp/h record is at granite.. I'm starting to wonder if granite is'nt any faster then iron :S

No i didn't bank, I had 24 skins with me at the start and had like 15 when i was done..Eek

You don't need skins in the mining place I think. But Ive never mined granite so idk.

Hmm... i think we should conclude that whoever said they get 60-80K xp per hour is lying, or perhaps it was this value before jagex added the desert effect to the quarry.

it could be the fact that even with my 75 mining, i have trouble 1 hitting granite all the time, so if you were also experienceing mining granite harder because you werent hitting granite in 1 hit like you do with iron at level 40, then it could go slower.

you can get better experience then that at higher lvls at granite. I have a friend with 95 that gets 60k-70k an hour there

I trained to 85 on granite before the desert effect, I would consistantly get 45-50k xp/h.

Yes you do need skins there. I can't really remember what I was getting in exp there it's

 

been so long since I mined granite, but I believe it was 35-40k exp/hour.

what do u meen with of course? just look at woodcutting, u cut magic logs with the same speed at lvl 75 then 99, no faster with higher lvl..so think again..

You may hit at the same speed but you have a higher chance of getting magic logs at 99 then 75.

Uhh thats not true about the magic logs... But on topic maybe it is faster at your lvl since at like 65 + everyone 1 hits iron. You wont one hit granite every time until like 80. ( don't take my word on these lvls ) So I guess continue iron for now but try granite again later after you get more lvls.

You are supposed to get more exp per hour at granite than at Iron, so maybe you are calculating something wrong?

 

 

 

But if you are finding you ger more at Iron, then just train there :-)

i know what you mean.i was going to go for 60 mining the other day but once i got to the task the exp was so slow i gave up :cry:

 

never tried mining but i think mining in general is very slow -.-

One of the few skills which is underestimated. Underrated and surely forgotten about.

 

 

 

Mining was the nr.1 skill in RSC (well, not really but it was important) and I have trained it to level 63 in RSC. Now all those years till now, I am only level 68. I hate the skill now. Ores are worthless*, rocks always taken. Worthless as in, not compareble to what I make with other skills. A really fun skill, I do not find it. And this counts for many people.

 

 

 

O well, could it be possible to give mining a new boost? A new high level ore perhaps that is high in demand? Like level 70, but instead of adaminth an ore that is not used in armours, just a faster way to raise smithing with? So it would be high in demand, thus more people mining?

I agree 100% with you, 12pure34. I would also like to add that it was easier to train mining in RSC because you didn't need to drop your ores, excess that you mined would just fall on the floor.

 

 

 

Mining definitely needs something new.

 

 

 

About granite mining: I thought that Jagex made it so that you didn't need waterskins to mine granite again because so many people didn't like it.

I don't like mining much. I find smithing so much better because you can browse Tip.It and such while it's going :D

I've always heard it was around 40K per hour.

 

About the water skins, you do need them. Jagex did a update about a month or two that required you to use one.

Mining is an f2p skill mostly. And by that i dont mean the obvious, i mean that it's one of the main moneymakers of f2pers. Its practically useless for members; those going for high smithing are usually extremelly rich, and those going for total levels usually arent banking and arent doing it for cash. I think mining needs a major update to be semi-usefull for members, I think members are getting a bit gipped with an overbearing skill that gives little retun. The only uses are mainly for quest requirements and TL's.

 

 

 

(Just letting you know I'm not one of those complaining members, I quit about 5 months ago)
