Jaziek
TBH, GCSE's count for smeg all when applying for uni. Maybe, they'll want a foreign language grade C...but that's it. Oxbridge... thats where i want to get to.. and i know that u need fantastic results to get there.. not just in A level but GCSE as well. Ditto. I don't think you need flat A*s but it probably helps. A's and A*'s though. when i first took a look at what the requirements were, i thought.. o bugger, better look elswhere.. but i think i might just be able to As in everything.. I just really cba with my ICT coursework now.. its the most monotonous pointless stupid peice of work i have ever done.. Surely anyone who has done an ICT GCSE agrees.. What the hell is the point in doing hand drawings of an interactive slideshow FFS!?
knives669
Well, I have finals next week, with my senior year in high school being next year. :( So, I'm stressing big time. I have to look at colleges over the summer and look at scholarships and things of that nature, and it's so confusing. :(
assassin_696
GCSEs will mean very little when trying to get in there. It's mainly on interviews and application tests. For example, I knew someone with 4 As at A-level (yes, 4 at A2, not AS) and he didn't get in for some reason. Yeah, a lot of it is based on interviews and tests, but I think GCSE results definitely help if when they're picking between 1000 candidates with 3 or 4 A's at A-level. Depends on the course though, maths is based mostly on STEP (*gulp*). when i first took a look at what the requirements were, i thought.. o bugger, better look elswhere.. but i think i might just be able to As in everything.. I just really cba with my ICT coursework now.. its the most monotonous pointless stupid peice of work i have ever done.. Surely anyone who has done an ICT GCSE agrees.. What the hell is the point in doing hand drawings of an interactive slideshow [bleep]!? I didn't do IT GCSE (did music instead, rocked) but I know enough people who did to know that it was a bugger. You gotta try for places like Oxbridge otherwise you'll regret it if you don't. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
Bubsa
if u find GCSEs hard its because ur thick, and deserve the low marks to align you into society appropriately. GCSEs exist to separate the wheat from the chaff. to stop colleges and universities wasting time and money on thick people. if u cant get all Cs or better u really must be a bit dumb because its easy ... lets face it, society needs thick ppl or who would empty ur bins. Wow, thanks for that brilliant comment. How did you do in your GCSE's? Judging by your spelling and grammar and attitudes towards evolution i'd say that your statement was pretty damn ironic and hypocritical. Be a little more sensitive about people who struggle with GCSEs, okay? Don't feed the trolls, mate ;) This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. Star.
I just think of GCSE's as remember what you learnt in two years. I sure can't remember anything about Science. Oh and for the ICT coursework .. I got a lame grade for my TPT but this is what annoys me most: Some students who did not get a good enough mark have to be dropped from getting ICT GCSE because (Oh this is good) our school don't want their figures to go down. What BS! ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢

redserpent4
Yeh GCSE's are easy A levels are so much harder than GCSE's, if you found the oral exam in speaking difficult this year then dont do it next year because the speaking is SO much harder. Good luck in your exams, my next AS is next friday.Likewise Geography? English literature. Good luck in geography =]

Except I have Anglo-German Relationships for the Historical debate and 120 years of Ireland for my Thematic. I also feel guilty about not working but I think I'll do well if the questions go my way. alex_lee8
I don't think im looking forward to A levels. I was going to take maths but apparently its really hard, even for clever people (me). I just got my year 10 exams back, mostly A's, a few A*'s (music, maths and geography). Oh yeah and a D lol, for Spanish which ive only been learning for 12 weeks so i thought i did ok. Im definately staying of runescape while i revise.
angryjoe
I don't think im looking forward to A levels. I was going to take maths but apparently its really hard, even for clever people (me).It depends if you are a hard worker and are prepared to put the effort in. I just walked an A* in my maths GCSE literally without revising or putting any effort in on the coursework. However I couldn't hack it at A level and had to drop it because I got too far behind in the work and didn't put enough effort in. However my friends that took it got on ok with it so you could probably do it if you are prepared to work hard with a heavy workload.
StrOwez
So what are you guys taking for A level? And the people who are already doing A level can you give some feedback on your subjects? BTW For A level I'm taking Double Business, IT and Maths for first years AS, then dropping either Maths or IT for the second or if I like them both I'll keep both. P.S. Todays English did anyone else get the question about the treatment of old people in society? AQA exam board. A friend to all is a friend to none. Orpheus
Shame I have to pull some thread necromancy, but are GSCEs equivalent to say, a U.S. ACT/SAT test? I'm really confused as to what it is right now. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER. Roseiah
In January I will be sitting some mocks and some real GCSE's. I am a bit nervous about my real ones, because they are important to me. Everyone is stressed, some teachers make it easier by helping you and giving you advice, others just tell you that if you don't do well this and this will happen. That just isn't helping. Our school is pretty good overall though. You can always find help, and it does relieve the stress a bit knowing that you can get help, even when you aren't at school. It is a stressful time, but so was making sure I handed my coursework in on time before the holidays. To get through this I am just going to have to work hard and think that I have hardly anytime left at school. I am on study leave so much.
