Embraced Posted May 20, 2007 Share Posted May 20, 2007 I play Runescape whenever i have free time. In the evenings i go to the pub with my mates, when i get home i could watch tv, or play runescape. I suppose both are a waste of time but at least with Runescape you get the feeling that you acheive something. I love the game and i must admit i do play until the early hours of the morning, but i have a life outside it.. i'm sure everyone does! I see my irl friends more than i play Runescape, thankfully! P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month. BUT, I play soccer, I'm playing tennis, I run, I have great grades at school, I have a girlfriend.... so I'm able to live with my addiction. But he claims himself he has no life, yet he does, so I can't really imagene what a 'life' to him would be like... I'll agree with that, I guess it varies a lot though, depending on how much you actually socialise with people in game. If you devote your hours to skills without conversations then some people might consider that to be a bit socially suspect but others won't. It's all subjective :anxious: But RS is arguably as anti-social as MSN or AIM, and I don't see many people saying "get off MSN or Facebook you no-lifer" in the same way people seem to scorn RS, maybe I'm just not looking in the right places for that sort of banter, not that I'm interested :notalk: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Seriously, all these whether you-have-a-life-or-not threads irritate me the most. you are have a point, being #1 in your school for soccer/tennis/baseball/basketball/football means nothing about having a life, as long as your not anti-social and live in a room talking to no one. just playing runescape or any other game really gets down to not having a social life. which is what this whole thing is about, social life. do you goto school or work and just say hi to a few people? you then have a social life, you are being friendly and civil to other humans and respectful to them as a living individual. What that guy said was just a fallacious defense mechanism he's using, because it seems he doesn't have much of a social life, so instead of admitting to it or lying about it he just attacked the notion of social lives in general. No, I don't have a life. The only people with lives are the people who commit suicide because they broke up, or wore the wrong cloths to a dance, the people who's only concern is weither their parents will let them go to a party. I prefer man v man games like tennis and badminton then also enjoy rock climbing, trampolining and ANY water sports. I do have a social life but I don't like going out when there is nothing to do. I'd much rather play RS than sit outside blockbusters (Which is what we usually end up doing) I admit i do go on the computer too much and my grades have greatly suffered from it. I put the least important thing first and i've always realised that but never stopped myself, strange i know. But i still wouldn't call myself addicted. I just hate revision/homework because it's boring and i don't enjoy it. Its great, but in my spear time I play Runescape. So, most addicts DO have a life. Do you? You've contradicted yourself. If you play in your spare time, then you're not an addict, you have a balance. If someone plays any game for more than 12+ hours a day, then I'd guess that would constitute as 'no-life' - whatever that means. Basically, they need to get out more, it's not healthy. I got sick of people in general. RuneScape was something I happened to be good at, and people would largely leave me alone yet I could ask them for assistance when I needed it, and vice-versa. That was a big chunk of why I liked it: The other is that it was just something to do when I was bored. It didn't stop me from leaving the house, but I quickly found that (as I'd predicted) there simply wasn't anybody to DO anything WITH, and so any plans I had of getting a life were thoroughly disseminated. I turned back to the game and turned my back on ninety-nine percent of the world. I'm an addict, and I have no life. It's probably less due to RuneScape than it is to my crappy attitude toward a lot of things and people, or maybe the fact that I'm simply too strange for anyone in the real world to accept without explaining myself to them. Maybe both. You guys get on with your lives. Don't be like me. Don't become like me. Quit this game while you have the willpower. Still enjoying RuneScape?
