Reducing Gas Prices

Defender2516

Recommended Posts

Here is a email I got a few days ago. Seems intresting, but I say it doesn't hurt to give it a shot either.

Worth a shot but don't switch to Citgo

SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. $3.10 regular in CT 4/29/07........

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâænot sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.

If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to

reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!

Acting together we can make a difference.

What do you guys think?

Or, you know, just bike and use public transport. It's not that hard. I'd bike to school, if it weren't for the fact I have to carry a trombone every day... <.< Big heavy thing, and hard to take on your bike. Morning band is annoying sometimes.

Ride a bike.

I for one ride a bike everywhere. It's interesting to note how when I started I would rest every 30 minutes or so, and take it slow, however I now can ride large distances with a lot more intensity and almost never stopping.

The benefits are far too great. Unless you live over 25km from where you need to commute, a bicycle is a much better option then any automobile.

No, indeed margaret mead did, a 1901-1978 Anthropologist. What a wonderful lady, I just love her quotes. I'm sure people have heard of them anyway, if you havn't you're missing out! She encourages cultures to learn about other cultures with equality.

1 gallon ~ 3,8l

1l gas is about 11,50 SEK

1 SEK ~ 0.14 $

Which gives me a gallon price of about 6 $ when getting gas. I pay that gladly for the environment. Sweden rocks.

omfg if u dont rep0st this in 3 mins u will die frum a gost in ur room bvut if u do u will get laid lolololololol

Blarg on those. But think, if we do this, Exxon and them will just buy the smaller companies and jack up their prices higher. The only way we can do it is to improve or own gas mileage. IF we can raise every car's efficiency by 7 mpg, we wouldn't need to import oil, and it would be 1.75 a gallon. Don'tcha wish?

Still alive, still alive.

 The only chain emails I ever get are about how the south will rise again.

But it is. Over the past 10 years, millions of Northerners have migrated to the Southern United States. Less than one million have moved to the North.

But this idea won't work. Plus, we have no right to complain about gas prices. America has the cheapest gasoline in the world. In China and Britain, they pay 6-10 dollars PER LITER.

How about we all start driving more fuel efficient vehicles? All of Saturn's new line (including a Pickup and several SUVs, a sports car, and the classic sedans) get at least 40 miles to the gallon.

Not true, in Venezuela gasoline is only 16 cents per gallon. American Cliche ftw!

Current european gas prices:

1 litre (0.25 gallons): EUR 1,20-1,40

1 Gallon of gas for europeans: EUR 5.6 ==$7.53

Whine more? Even $4 per gallon would be dirt cheap let alone a bit over 1 buck.

Great in theory, but fails during the run-thru. Eventually people will need to buy gas. I know that as a fact here in Southern California. Everything's so far apart...

Let's take a look at the CIA world factbook shall we?

GDP - per capita (PPP):

$43,500 (2006 est.)

GDP - per capita (PPP):

$29,400 (2006 est.)

United States pays $3 per gallon, europeans pay $7+ per gallon.

What the .... is the problem with some americans thinking they own the world and are entitled to cheap gas?

Do you see Europeans sending chain letters to bring down the price of gas even though their prices are double that of USA and they make less money on average?

You should be happy you're lucky enough to have $3/g and not having to pay more.

You can't compare gas prices to children dying. That's ridiculous. You CAN fork out $7 per gallon if Europeans can. You can't rise a dead child from the grave.

Yea thats the problem with saying "just bike everywhere!". Everything is soooo far apart and would take forever to bike or walk. In Europe, things are not nearly as spread out and it is easy to bike across town (plus they have an excellent public transportation system). Because of the distance I need to go to get places I have to drive to most of them.

It's all relevant, I guess. Europeans have always paid higher prices like that, while we haven't. If they had to pay $1.50 for a gallon, they'd all probably look around at eachother like confused ostrich's and just go "BLOODY 'ELL! WHAT IS IT THEN THAT IS GOING ON 'ERE?!" Where as if an American (who is used to paying that) has to pay $4.00, we do the same thing...Only without the weird accent.

I think something like $2.50-$2.80/gallon is pretty acceptable. Anymore than that is pushing it. I have never once in my 20 years seen gas anywhere near $3.00/gallon, but alas, if I look downtown, I see that it is $3.35/gallon. Cost $75 to fill up my car...It costs my dad like $150 to fill his drunk with DEISEL, which is much cheaper.

4 years ago when my dad bought his truck, gas was 98 cents per gallon here. Just thought I'd throw that in. The cheapest I ever saw it was on vacation in Georgia when I was in my early-teens...It was like 64 cents per gallon. Crazy.

It's just weird giving someone a $20 a year ago to fill my tank and now I have to give them closer to four $20's. :P

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

You can't just say if the Europeans can afford it so can the Americans.

Gas use per person per year:

Europe: 275.6 (liters)

United States: 1,593.1 (liters)

So a person in the US spending $3 a gallon on gas spends a GREATER percentage of their income on gas than a person spending $7 a gallon in Europe.

Y'know, the only reason those chain e-mails don't work is because people don't believe they will work, and nobody passes them on. If people would just have a little faith, do their part, and pass them on, mabye they would actually reach a good number of people.

Whether or not that children thing had any point in the thread, there's still an issue over gas. So what, we don't want to pay the money. we try to go against it. problem? tell europe to do the same if they're angry that the US is trying to stop it.

Who said we think we own the world? some politicians think we do. i couldn't care less about those dweebs. the heart of the matter isnt what our feelings to the rest of the world are, or how they feel about us. tell us to stop whining? we won't. we have a right. we're angry about prices 2 dollars below europe? then tell them to fight it too. not trying to be racist here, but we americans don't tolerate companies who think THEY have power over us.
