This reminds me- I am so going to start a thread about overzealous security guards. Please don't start it before me.

i used to work at an ice cream store at the shore; kids would come in and ask for a sample (it'd be just a spoon of the ice cream) and would leave without buying anything, every day. Eventually we would start asking if they were going to buy, and they stopped

its no surprise people are suspicious, they have reason to

I never get this, I am quite tall for my age (18) and I wear expensive clothes (around $2000-3000 per outfit) The cashier pretty much gets the idea.

Regrettably, it's worse in the UK. Thanks to the new ASBOs, it's automatically in the mindset of near enough everyone that group of kids can't get together without drinking down 23 units of alcopops and smashing telephone boxes up. Unfortunetely, it's even worse if a group of asian lads get together, people literally cross the road so as not to go through them. It's mindless paranoia, and yeah, it annoys me.

Especially when A Level exam results are publically released with 50% of young people going to uni, and then they try and play it down saying "Owww they're just easy nowadays". Can't any of us do any right? <.<

I've been followed around shows before when i'm looking at expensive electronics or alcohol but noone has ever stopped and questioned me like that. That's just rude. If someone asked me if i could afford something in such a tone then i'd tell them where to get off and go spend my money in some other store.

I did that once at a Borders, they didn't believe me. <.<

Next time I think I'm gonna better fake my identity.

Me doing staff.

so, i was goin to watch pirates 3, wen the movie was over, i decided to head over 2 barnes and noble, and check if there were any new books i wanted. i saw a pendragon book, and it was $16.99, my state tax is 6.5%, so i didn't know if i had enuf money or not (dang! movie food costs a lot!), i go up to the cashier and ask how much it cost with tax, and she goes $18.## (i forgot actual #s...), then she looks down at me at me and asks me in a sneering voice,"can u afford this?" at that moment, i was just about to answer "no, i can't, but u know wat? i'm going to sit here and read all ur books and never buy a single one!", but i didn't say that, all i said was "yea". this ever happen to u guys, were the clerks/ cashiers just assume ur a trouble maker or can't afford the things u want to buy?

I suppose it depends wether you look like a meth-head (english equivalent - scag-head) or not. I've never had that question asked of me before (especialy when I'm in America - if you have a british accent and wear a shirt with buttons, you are instantly very well off (in the eyes of prospective shop keepers). People assess you instantly on the basis of your appearance, the way you talk, and how confident you are. Some teenagers say "this isn't right, you judging me this fast, so I'm going to act against it by deliberatly wearing these clothes, talking this way etc", I tend to conform to thier desired perception and use this to gain thier trust. It's more useful but less morally correct.

well, that day, i was wearing a plain white T-shirt, with black sleeves, jeans, and i'm short for my age (14), and i'm asian (no glasses, most people think that all asians wear glasses because of their squinty eyes, but HA!) is that all right, i don't think i look like a gansta, or anything... :XD:

i'm 16 and a admin at a internet cafe so i basically assume my own kind are trouble makers generally because i know i am myself but where is the fun in not being suspicious to other people. i sometimes make it look like i have done something to get a reaction from shop keepers its always fun having a security guard follow you for 20 minutes when your innocent

lol sorry for bein off topic, but ur maplestory character looks kinda cute XD...

wat lvl? lol

on topic

i just think the cashier is pissed off at her bad job... well its just my opinion.

grounded currently

Of course. It's the worst when before you even talk to anyone, you have security following you and your description is flying over their walkie talkies.

I've even been kicked out of K-Mart because I bounced a ball. I was causing a major ruckus for the what... 5 other people shopping there. :wall:

Ah...i'm a 6ft4 white caucasian male with a public school accent and manner and a home counties appearance (they could be said to be one and the same). I'm 17 by the way...perhaps they don't think of me as "teenager" seeing as I have only ever once been ided trying to buy alcohol - and I have bought quite a bit.

try buying a condom at a pharmacy at our age. while im pretty sure its against the cashier's policy to comment, you will see shifty eyes and whispering. i have a friend who bought one and the cashier said "go get 'em, tiger!". must have been embarrassing.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

No can't say that I've ever been in this position.

:? With half the answers said on here, it's no surprise adults treat us this way... Stop being bad representatives.

Please get a sense of humour, and to be fair I don't think half of the things said will be repeated because they don't have the chutzpah. =]
