So, does your school have any traditions? Or for you old people, did your old school have traditions? It can be anything from annual trips to traditional pranks. [hide=My School Traditions]My school has a few... -Traditional trip to Canobie Lake Park on last/second to last day of school (Canobie Lake Park is an amusement park in New Hampshire) -A trip in which one grade goes to some camp for a few days... -Ski trip (Finally learned how to ski!) -Roman feast I'm going to make most of my post about the last one, the Roman feast. The Roman Feast is a project and a party that only my grade participates in. It was today. It's a history project, so our projects have to do with ancient Rome, although for the past few years, other ancient civilizations have been allowed. My friend and I built a catapult. It was about 3 feet long and 1.5 feet wide. It shot up to 6 feet or something. I'll get a picture up tomorrow, as it's still at school. Anyways, on to what happened. For the past week, all we did during history class was work on our projects. Just imagine a whole floor of students hammering, sawing and painting. My friend and I barely finished our catapult, but it was pretty well done. We didn't make it the tension catapult we wanted, but rather more of a pulley-operated catapult. Yesterday when we were testing it, we almost hit another of my friends with a piece of wood. Today, I didn't have to go to any of my core subjects. That means math, science, English and history. Yeah, I had French and band, but those two are rather fun. Then came the real fun. Everyone brought their project into the gym. We spent an hour or two looking around at everyone's project...I saw this huge trireme (Greek/Roman warship) that was about 6 feet long. There was also a great model of an aqueduct, as well as a few other catapults. Then we had lunch, what made this a Roman FEAST. We had an all-you-can-eat buffet. Pizza, pasta, garlic bread, etc. Any Italian food you can think of. Not to mention it was good food. Then we had more time to look around, and a few people fired their siege weapons. A few people had built a giant ballista, and it was awesome. A few catapults were really awesome, much better than mine. But then, sadly, school was over. Usually something I'd be happy about, but in this case, no. I have to bring my project home tomorrow (Gr...How am I going to carry it...) and I'll get some pictures up. I decided to make this thread because of my experience today, as well as the senior pranks coming up. Was our right of passage, the day before our last day, we'd go up at night and do something to the school. Usually something funny, not smashing windows or graffeti or stupid crap like that. Oh the times we had. We broke into the teachers lounge and put all the couches up on the rooves all around the school. And even some of the classrooms with student desks, toilet papered every tree in the school grounds. The caretaker was not happy at all haha. A few of the guys even brought up buckets full of dog crap (I'm talking about over 20 buckets) and just chucked it all over the place. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Over a year since you joined and never made a topic? That is actually a good thing, should have some sort of limit like 4 months or whatever before someone can make a topic. I don't know if I ever made a topic on Scapeboard, and I was there over a year. Sadly I don't really have anything to say on-topic wise, because my school didn't ever do anything traditionally. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. ortiz9471 Posted June 7, 2007 Share Posted June 7, 2007 Pig race ;) We have a magazine drive to raise money for the school, and at the end of it every homeroom (there are 4 on each team, 2 teams per grade, 3 grades, so 24 homerooms) gets a little electronical pig. They select a "pig jockey" and race them. Guthix_Girl Posted June 7, 2007 Share Posted June 7, 2007 at the beginning of the year theres always a pep rally or summat (woo...) then we have a louou dance every year.. and sadly .. every friday is "friendly friday" where everybody has to be nnice and say HI..... and at the end of the year each grade goes on a trip.. like tomorrow my year is going to the beach for the day.. sounds fun.. I have a friend who's in high school, and there are a lot of traditions of torturing the freshmens (is that th corrct plural for freshman? is that even the right spelling, or is it awkwardly spelled?). they throw pennies at the freshmans and ther's an all school contest for who can scream "GO HOME FRESHMAN!" the loudest! Boy, I'm gonna enjoy my first year of high school... anyway, at my school we have a few traditions. the 7th grade families help set up and help around for the 8th grade graduation, which is kind of fun to get closer to the 8th graders. There's a pizzaria near the school, and its traditional that we order food for our sports and go there after a game to eat. there's also a big yard next to our school. during some carnivals at the beginning of the year, its traditional that a lot of the older kids get their first (or any) kiss there. pretty fun traditions in my opinion. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. End of Year 12 muck up day (where you muck up pretty much - Self Explanatory) An annual "Cadet Corp Passing out Parade" where the Year 12 who are still in Corp have a Corp ceremony at the end of Term 2 too "pass out" of their Senior Years and the Cadet Corp at my school. Every year, the Grade 12 gym classes will play Killball (Dodgeball, but better) against the grade 9s...
