Sarcasm is just part of my nature, because frankly I can be a total jerk. :D I'll use it in a non-serious manner while joking with my friends, but sometimes when my gears are ground enough, I'll bite back with those cold sarcastic remarks.

Blah blah blah O:)

People in RS and people on these boards don't know each other at all. They only have the text to go by. So I don't think it's so much a problem of IQ and intelligence, as it is a problem of environment. Irony and sarcasm are a kind of humour that belongs in a group of people who know each other well and who can read each other, often to the exclusion of the people who don't. It's just the nature of sarcasm.

Not so sure about that. I was mining in the guild, when someone entered the guild, saying "Need free coal!!!!" and mining. I said "The mining guild appears to be giving out free coal." Everybody (except that macroer over there) said some form of "lol", except him. He started asking "Where?wut dwarfe do i ask?"

I had to tell him that clicking on the black blobs would give you high chances of getting a heap of coal.

Actually, I feel you prove the point I made so long ago (talking about reviving topics). You formed the exclusive group with the other miners, who knew enough to catch the sarcasm and get the joke, whereas the other someone, who was asking for something, took what you said at face value, not getting the joke and making himself look ridiculous (often the intended side-effect of sarcasm).

It's not about IQ. I've seen many people with a high IQ not get sarcasm (the geniuses often have the least developped sense of humour). Having a high IQ isn't necessarily the same as being clever. And it's also a commonly made mistake to think that all forms of sarcasm are witty or clever...

Sure I do, but you have to be careful. Jagex hates humor and rewards it with a ban every time. Same as wannabe pmods. I generally use sarcasm on beggars when I'm not bored enough to lead them into the Lumbridge swamp, though I also use it on any other idiot who may cross my path.

Too many people get offended to make sarcasm worth it -.- .

I stopped being sarcastic when Jaegx sent me an e-mail in the message centre saying I'm 1 bm from a mute

Needless to say, that's it. I haven't gotten a single black mark since =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Sarcasm? Why no, I... Okay, enough with the stupid joke. Yes, and it is even funnier when people don't understand why you're laughing.

Although I notice that when sarcastic remarks are make on the forums, some people like to bash people who make them.. because apparently, sarcasm is offensive. I really don't understand why people seem to think that twenty lines of text and a sarcastic one-liner that mean the exact same thing are totally different, that one is offensive and not appropriate, even when the post it is is directed to is sheer stupidity, while the other is perfectly fine, even if it says the exact same thing in more words.

There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

IRL I am one of the most sarcastic people you will ever meet. However, in RS I hardly ever use sarcasm. The simple reason being wanna-be mods who cannot understand when you are being sarcastic and take everything you say at face value.

I used to make sarcastic remarks up until one of those wanna-be mods got me muted for a day. :wall:

Sarcasm is the best thing ever invented. I use it all the time; to an extent that people get agitated so much they report me.. sarcasm isn't against the rules. It always makes me laugh.

Whenever I meet new people, they usually think that I'm bitter, mean or cold hearted. After a little while, people just realize I'm actually really happy, positive and sarcastic. After that, things are good.. but man, until they realize I'm just perma-sarcastic, it's rough... 8-)

no I don't use sarcasm unless it's against friends.

Just wanted to say I thought this wording was really great. Not "with" friends but "against" friends. Awesome!

Man, I really do love Runescape, and I'm sure if it was a real person I would of asked it to marry me by now.

I probably shouldn't but I do use sarcasm, mostly on annoying people who call me a noob/cannot spell.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

Sarcasm's great- only the intelligent may decipher it... Which does wonders in-game, since not many have intelligence... Always brings a good laugh....
