the reason for accounts with more than one space in the name being banned is that when it comes to reporting someone and you have to type in their name, it makes it a lot harder to spell and therefore report.

 

 

 

Putting a load of "-"'s in the middle would make it slightly easier to read but not very.

Hmm, though this was probably a few months ago now, my account "Ilickurballs" was banned *whistle* But the odd part is that I had never even logged into it...

haha, seems Jagex invented a robot to kick those with bad names, including deceptive names with spaces away. But when can Jagex invent a super robot to kick macroers away? :D lol

i got an account with 90 mining banned because it had stoner in the name :( that made me sooo mad if i coulda, i would have happily changed the name....

I think that its good that they are punishing people for being stupid about names, but its a bit harsh in my opinion.

Your chance to not get banned with that name, including new JaGEx banning system is around 15-20% I guess. They don't care if you have been playing for 5 years or even created The First Account Of RSC.

Good. I hope those names that you listed in the first post are fake. This can be false however. Once, I tried to create an account with an innapropriate name, and it said that you cannot make the account. This has to be fake.

Someone that makes a name they know is innapropriate shouldn't be complaining about their account being banned. It's not like jagex didn't tell them that it was against the rules.

Oh my goodness, wasn't he/she a player moderator (not to mention a great player)? That's very harsh, he/she must be very upset. However, I guess if you break the rules, you suffer the consequences. They knew that they're names were offensive when they made him. I do think it's a bit late to be enforcing it now though.

The real issue is; who decides if something is offensive or not? For example; someone could make an account called "Eat My Poo", most people wouldn't find that offensive, but there would be people that would.

 

A good example would be the name of Avril Lavigne's newest album "Best damn thing" I was browsing an Amazon forum and it was pretty much split down the middle with some people being greatly offended that there was "swearing" in the title of the CD and the rest saying "What swearing?"

That is why they are banned. Pick a normal name. Simple letters and numbers. No weird double spaces, 0 and o or O. No I or l. Just plain and simple, a name and maybe a few numbers. Not a gazilion numbers. Not only numbers. A lot of pures scam, because they know they never get reported because of their impossible name! So yes, ban them all. Level 3 or level 126. If you have a name which I can hardly report if you do something bad, get banned straight away. Make it fair for everyone.

A real life friend of mine was banned because of this on the wed they did it. On monday following he had his account reinstated with an apology from jagex. weird. I wonder how many others were unbanned.

My opinion is that there are some names that are obviously innaporpriate. Im sure everyone here knows what they are. Remember, this game is actually intended for 13+. Every 13 year old knows what would be against thwe rules and frowned upon. However, I have seen some names that were banned, where the creator obviously wasn't trying to do any harm. One example was this one guy named "Santa Claus(random #'s)". He got banned. Jagex was obviously thinking that people who do not celebrate christmas would get offended.I must say, if you get offended by a generous guy who donates his life to making people happy just because you don't beleive in him then you must have the emotional capacity of a thimble.

Naw, not a pmod, just a normal player. Anyways in my eyes the only mistake Jagex did was to let someone with an account name like that be in this game for long enough to get the levels he got. I know it for a fact that he had been reported many times even over one year ago.

The current filter hasn't been there forever, so pretty much anything might come to stand next to you in RS.
