Wow, that's nice. I think this bow is more of a quick hard hitter, but it is not as versatile as perhaps the MSB. The effectiveness over cost is yet to be determined as dragon arrows find their stable price.

I still think MSB is pretty good- dirt cheap, pretty quick and a half decent spec. I hope the dark bow drops in price enough for people to start pking with it, that would be awesome.

Awsome weapon and all that but it seems range will once again become the most power/best combat skill to use. Like back before barrows when they ruled the wildy, even melee was defeated by a high lvl ranger. I see the dark bow as both good and bad news :|

Well first off i'd like to start with the fact that Jagex did you give a high drop rate for this weapon to start with!...

 

On the day it was released,a friend of mine told a Jagex Mod how fast people were getting the bows and he was surprised to hear that because,as he said,the drop rate was normally around 5 hours for first bow.

 

This can be proven as some of my friend who went there the second the update was released waited around 5-6 hours to get their first bow.

 

So it's pure luck that a few people got the dark bow so fast.

 

After all ,it was to be expected since 3k+ people had 90+ slayer.

 

Secondly,the first people who paid 60m for the bow are practically idiots,as it was obvious the bow was going to drop quite alot,but the urge to do so and be the first person to have it was too much i guess :oops:

The crystal bow (at 8/10) gave me about 12,500 exp, which is 50,000 exp/hour.

 

The mage short bow (with steel arrows) gave me about 10,500 exp, which is 42,000 exp/hour.

 

The dark bow (with steel arrows) gave me around 7,500 exp, which is 30,000 exp/hour.

 

 

 

Hence it's bad for training, but it is good for KO's. Even if you used addy arrows, the MSB would still, without doubt, be better than the dark bow (people usually request this be done since a crystal bow is eventually around 72 gp per shot when the price is lowest, which is the price of addy arrows about).

Is this bow going to be useful for the Fight aves? Only problem I can see is picking up arrows. :-k

 

 

 

avas accumulator takes care of that some what. too pricey to actually use this thing, unless you used dragon arrows for the special only on jad or something. double 39's would help out.

Anyway if you tested steel darts on Bloodvelds (or knives) you would find they are better than both the bows. Bloodveld are easy to hit. Dark Bow is better tested on something such as blue dragons or black dragons. The attack bonus and special will actually help then.

In addition the Dark Bow is about as slow as a Crystal Bow, possibly even .1 seconds more however it shoots 2 arrows at once which after some brief testing of timing has led me to the conclusion that it is as fast a Mage Short Bow.

 

I have tested this and proven it to be 2 Dark Bow shots for every 5 Magic Short Bow shots. This means the Dark Bow shoots 4 arrows for every 5 arrows the Magic Short Bow shoots. Therefore, even with double arrows shooting, it is still slower than a Magic Short Bow.

 

 

 

I thought someone said that it was 4 Dark bow shots for every 5 MSB shots... hmm, this is a lot slower than I thought it was.. Although with the extra range bonus those 4 arrows could hit more then 5 msb arrows.

if u could hit 40, 41 ( an 81) or higher, people with 99 range, and have the best range bonus possible, could almost 1 hit or 1 hit most lower pl pkers. i think it will have an affect on pking.

I wonder if the Fight Caves can be done with 60 range and Dragon arrows...Anyways, I will blow up JaGex Towers if they nerf this. :evil:

Just to take a slightly different tack on this for a moment ... if you use poison arrows (I'm assuming you can also poison dragon arrows) and the special, you guarantee that you'll poison your opponent.

 

 

 

Being a lowly F2Per, I don't really know what I'm talking about, but if your goal is to poison someone, this is a pretty safe bet. Also if poison 'stacks', i.e., 2 hits = 2 different poision counters, then it can only be a good thing (unless you're the opponent).

 

 

 

But again, I'm only F2P and the DDS special may 'always' hit enough to guarantee poison so it may not really matter ... just a thought. I do enjoy watching these discussions though.

A bit off topic, but it turns out after beingy so stingy about buying a Dark Bow for 4 mil, I got scammed of my santa by someone switching Ranars with Guams. It's fun knowing that I could be 15 million richer and be enjoying my Dark Bow at the same time at this moment. :(

I doubt people will pk with it for a while seeing how they would be a HUGE target for pjs, tags, etc., and not to mention the sheer cost of arrows now. Staking, definitely. Monster slaying, doubtful. Seeing how a crystal bow has enermous range, it is a great weapon for DKing and a Darkbow would just be a burden considering the arrows and the crystal bow would be far cheaper, even if you buy a new one for 900k and work your way donw.

 

 

 

Btw: If its Jagex Tower how come a jmod called it Jagex castle?

The price of the Dark Bow will go pretty low then go up again to about 3-5m. I think this because all the noobs and people who cannot aford it at a high price (which there are alot of) try to buy it as cheap as possible, the Dark Bow sellers can't sell it high so they have to sell it at a lower price. After a while everyone killing Dark Beasts for Dark Bows will soon get annoyed in getting the drop as they arent exactly a very common drop (5-10hours on average for most people). Therefore the Dark Bow sellers will not sell it low anymore but higher! :) (i'ts good when it's at a higher price, they no noobs get it)

 

 

 

I also believe that supplying the Dark Bow to sustain it's liability to KO, is extremely expensive! Dragon Arrows are NOT common and WILL stay at a high price. This will consequently affect the amount of Dark Bow KOers in the wildy.

You're looking at it in the wrong way. Mith arrows would be around 72gp per shot if you lost every arrow after being shot. But since you can pick up your arrows i would say 72gp per shot comes alot closer to the cost of addy arrows then mith.

You lose 20% of your arrows, so rune arrows would cost you about 90-100 gp per shot?

 

If you take into account the the high ranged bonus and the special it would seem to me that it's equal or even better than a crystal bow for training. Slightly more expensive though.

Dark bow is a junk, i wonder if anyone will use it for caves. Msb is still remain best ranger weapon.

 

 

 

I dont like opinion of players who havent tested it.

 

This bow just weaker with rune arrows and dragon arrows making 1 shoot price worth compared with ice bariage.

 

 

 

If you going to allow you oponent eat few sharks while you shooting next time then its your best choose.

 

 

 

For pvm i can say its making like 1.4 less damage per seacond so i dont see any point using it.

 

 

 

Maybe i'm too high for that bow but for me its useless toy like seercull
