Here's my information so far:

 

 

 

1) A crossbow on rapid shoots 3/5 as fast as a shortbow on rapid.

 

2) The rune crossbow now has 90 range bonus, and if you use a Zamorak book, you can achieve +98 range; 29 points higher than a magic shortbow.

 

3) Many stunningly powerful hits with bolts have been observed.

 

 

 

I'd still like to see some max hit comparisons. Try testing rune c'bow versus magic short. Use the same metal type of ammo (ie. addy arrows versus addy bolts), use untipped bolts, and avoid using range pots or the range prayers. Tell us your max hit with each bow and your range level. Thanks!

 

 

 

Also, have the special crossbows been changed at all (Karil's, hunter, dorgeshuun)?

no, I'm gonna test it soon enough then, make myself a nice Cbow, some bolts and I'm gonna be testing

Decent month for rangers so far.

 

 

 

 

 

PMG JAgex update melee now range is unfair and we dont get any updates this month and they got too. :wall:

They are crystal bow speed now.

 

They hit like a melee weapon and make karil's and crystal obselete in my opinion.

 

You really want to train with them from now on instead of magic shortbow.

 

For reference, I hit 27s with just plain mithril bolts and a range pot, which is the same as a full crystal.

 

I don't think you need to see numbers just get yourself one and some bolts and you'll see "night and day" difference.

 

Jagex just brought range out of the abyss.

The great thing about this update, is that this will won't be used for pking, but is excellent for range against monsters, and monster training.

I was able to hit a 28 using rune crossbow and regular mithril bolts. I'm range lvl 89, was potted and using the eagle eye prayer.

 

 

 

In comparison, my max hit with the crystal bow is 26, also using range pot and eagle eye. However, the rune crossbow is not as fast and as accurate.

I missed the screeny but at 95 range, potted (106 time of the hit) and with prayer I hit a 39 on a black dragon with diamond tipped bolts.

Yeah I have been killing black dragons with them and they hit as good as my crystal bow almost, definitely better then mage bow.

 

 

 

71 range hitting 17's & 18's with pearl bolts

i was at black dragons and hit 21-13-18-19 with 71 ranged... i was using rune xbow and rune bolts and no prayer or pots. no pic though...

It's about the speed of a crystal, and mith bolts own it

anyone know what the max hit with onyx bolts is?

You only need gem tips on your bolts if you plan to enchant them. I wouldn't bother enchanting bolts for training, it would require too many gems and runes. Ten bolts are enchanted per spell.

Hunter's x-bow is obsolete, as you can get the same power 20 lvls earlier, and the bolts are hard to come by.

 

 

 

Karil's x-bow is Obsolete, as bolts are easier to obtain than bolt racks, and is only good if your a frequent frequent barrower....

I tried my old dusty blurite crossbow today. I hit a 10 with BLURITE. At 60 range. =D
