Gold farmers are still a problem: Jagex losing ?

Hi all,

I've noticed that the gold farmers are now slowly appearing on the member worlds infact there everywhere. As you are probably aware jagex announced on the front page about updating there methods to detect bots and to eliminate them from the game, at the moment were not seeing any evidence of that already its affecting gameplay for the many people who play the game without any intent to break the rules.

Everywhere you go bots are there either chopping away at the yew trees or fishing in catherby to buying all the death runes at the shops in runescape, as i said this is greatly affecting game play, It would be nice if jagex made a update post to this problem as it appears to be getting worse all the time. you can tell there bots with names like ying yang etc and they are always level 3 so they stand out like a sore thumb.

Solution

A possible solution would be to increase the amount of random events on the level 3's in the game if jagex did this it might make these bots go away as they would have to train up there combat just to get rid of some of the random events they receive to begin leveling there woodcutting/fishing skills up to purposly cut trees to make real life money with.

thanks for reading

Put it this way

Last month, sharks were around the 400s-500s each. Natural price are around 800-1k each.

This month, they are back to 800-1k each. Are they really losing this fight?

Ranged Crave

Also, I heard yew logs are rising to higher then 300 each log. They used to be 300-310 flat per log.

They selectivly ban gold farmers and macroers because they don't want to ruin the game. You know how much gold ore would cost and how little supply there would be if they banned all those gold famers and macroeers, their little goldsmith gloves would become uesless. :D

first off bot banning and gold farming banning are 2 seperate things.

its harder to get gold farmers because they blend in mostly with the population. and i dont think that jagex is going to ban a whole country from playing a game.

Gold farmers are a problem on every game. Increasing frequency of random events on level 3 accounts will just make more level 4 bots. Gold farmers and bots will always find a way around it.

i would name some bot name that has hundreds of the same name of bots, but it's against the rules. jagex is winning, that's why prices for everything is going up.
Wrong. Ever wonder where the money earned from the yews goes? Right into gold buyer's pockets. What do they buy in bulk, now that they can afford it, just to get some fletching or firemaking levels? Take a guess.

Now that they can afford all these raw materials, they buy them like crazy and drive up the prices. Happens all the time. It's the reason why some WoW servers have low level materials (like copper bars) going for more money then some much higher leveled materials (like truesilver bars).

Well, I'll never say they're not trying to eliminate them and I do give them credit. But you have to admit, they are losing. Nowadays, I'm seeing more and more macroes on p2p, either cutting yews (or some other kind of log), fishing, buying runes, or making nats. You can say what you want, but you won't convince me they're "lowering" the amount of autoers, I'm only seeing an increase.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

The prices of random items are determined by players, and if there is a shortage of items such as yew logs due to autoers that normally provide them being banned the prices will rise...

I don't think that many people buy rs gold to significantly affect market prices. You can also note that people in the fishing highscores have risen ranks without leveling at all, which obviously means that people who provided fish were somehow removed, which means that there are less sources of fish in the game, which means there are less fish.

If you look at it from another perspective though, your argument about money circulating doesn't make much sense either, because though money goes back to the autoers, money circulates through every single player group in RS anyway. If I buy a runite pickaxe from a normal player and mine rune ores with it and sell them back to the same person, the money that I spent is coming back to me as well. Would you care about that?

If the higher leveled materials were cheaper, wouldn't people just buy the higher leveled materials instead? Either this is caused by price manipulation, or by lots of new, lower-leveled players entering the game, assuming that WoW's leveling system works the same as RS's.

In WoW, the low level items have a lot more uses, as professions can be "unlearned" (such as to switch blacksmithing for engineering, for example). This is opening up a whole different can of worms though, so I won't go into it.

EDIT: And I said on some servers, not all of them. Items can't be normally traded between servers, so each one has it's own economy. :o

Autoing never used to be so much of a problem on RSC, when people only botted because the were too lazy to get there skills up, or wanted some easy money to buy a party hat.. I was walking from the Port Sarim Farming patch to falador, and saw about 20 level 3s with similar names clustered around a yew stump.. I LOLed when I saw one of them was a female character (still in the default clothing).
