assassin_696
Interesting post trapical, i'd absolutely love to see one of those 100% electrical synapse people in some kind of martial arts fight. Is there any research being done (if it's even feasible) into artificially modifying the ratios of chemical to electric synapses/nerves? I remember all that synaptic and nervous system stuff from GCSE biology, but I had no idea there were different ratios, fascinating stuff :) Our brains are the most complicated things in the universe... :-s  especially girls :-$ thats a great statement, but a very arrogant one indeed. what if theirs a race of an extra-terrestrial being with a far more advance brain than ours? wouldnt be surprised Doubt it. what more is there to a brain? Yeah I agree, the human brain has to be one of the most complex arrangements of particles anywhere in the Universe. There might be a more complicated something out there, but it's unlikely to have a more complex arrangement of particles. champion
I have something I think is odd. After waking up I usually always pee. Then after breakfast, etc, I go to school. The thing is I NEVER have to pee when I'm at school. Don't feel the urge either. Now here's where it gets odd. Ok, I'm in my car, coming back from school, still have no need to pee. I'll walk up the steps, I'm fine. But right when I get inside I have to pee! The school bathrooms aren't disgusting or anything either, it's odd... But on weekends and during summer I pee like every 2-4 hours, or whatever. Strange Oh sorry about using the word "pee" a lot, any other way felt awkward. Oooooh, that's another weird thing! I don't feel the need to pee in school as I'd do while in my house. But I sometimes ask for permission to go to the bathroom in the middle of a class (mostly to catch some fresh air, drink some water, stretch my legs). As soon as I get to the bathroom, I feel the need to pee as well. Quite awkward in my opinion. This signature is intentionally left blank.

drago_lark
I find it amazing that we can live at all let alone think. The human mind is so complex it literally hurts my brain to think about it. And from what I've heard we don't even use our brains to the fullest extent. Imagine how much how much the human race could accomplish if we, for lack of a better term, "unlocked" that potential. Would we even be able to handle it or would we "crack"? :-k I can't talk about this for too long as I will get a pounding headache and go dreadfully off-topic. Oh how I love to philosophize! On-Topic:Some times I'll be sitting or laying down comfortably and a muscle somewhere in my body(usually my leg) will start to spasm like crazy, almost like I were having a seizure. But it's always only one muscle. Does anyone know why this happens. :Jim: hey i got this new iPhone it plays music:Priest: better thank jesus for creating a way to talk to other people:Jim: you mean scientists?:Priest: Blasphomey! trapical
Drago, don't worry about it. That is most likely cause a muscle releasing it's neurotransmitters that it was holding on to. Let me explain in simpler terms. For a muscle to move it needs to release a burst of 'energy'. Let's imagine that 'energy' is a bucket of water. Now when you are running or climbing stairs you are using a lot of energy so your muscle is gathering dozens and dozens of these buckets of water and using them all as fast as it can obtain them. Now you suddenly sit or lay down. The muscle stops all of a sudden and tells itself it stop collecting these buckets of water. Of course there is a slight delay in the communication and by the time the signal gets to the other side, the muscle is sitting there, idle, holding on to all these extra buckets of water. After a little while the muscle gets sick of hanging on to these heavy buckets so it simply says "forget this!" and it just throws the water aside. This action causes that once muscle to burst into action all of a sudden for no apparent reason. :

Rebdragon
Drago, don't worry about it. That is most likely cause a muscle releasing it's neurotransmitters that it was holding on to. Let me explain in simpler terms... You're quite the expert :P . If you don't mind, I've got a human biology question I hope you can answer : . For as long as I can remember, I've always had a weird reaction to tasting something I don't like. It doesn't happen everytime I eat something I hate, but it happens at least, say, 20% of the time, at least on the first bite of it. Basically, after ingesting something disgusting to my taste buds (and only after it's down my esophagus), my entire spine goes into a huge spasm. Not like the shivers, not like a miniscule jerk or reflex, I'm talking like a huge spasm, going straight up my spine. I didn't think much of it, speculating that it happens to everyone, but my dad noticed it once and asked me what I was doing, why I just jerked during my meal for no apparent reason. After explaining it, my entire family (three siblings, two parents) stated that none of them ever did it. It's obviously not a medical problem, just a weird reaction to food I dislike (i.e., I'm not worried about it, just curious. It's nothing big :P ). Any idea why it happens? I've hypthesized that the spasm is just experiencing the cringe that most people do from distasteful food, just throughout the body with a much larger reaction for some reason. That, or you may have already explained it in your last post :XD: . And as supplementary question, does this happen to anyone else? I still feel like I wouldn't be surprised if it did, even though it doesn't happen to anyone else in my family. Viktor
Sometimes if I'm really freaked out about something or really agitated or scared, I'll get a strange sensation in my back, I'm not quite sure how to describe it but I'll get this feeling when I think someone's behind me, usually someone I don't really want there, maybe someone dangerous or evil. My friend gets it too. :? champion
I don't know if this was mentioned already, but... Ok, I had a big dinner in the food court at the mall. I felt really full. So I was just walking, and I was by a hamburger place, where there was a big picture of a hamburger on the wall. After looking at it I immediately felt even more stuffed, and felt a little sick, as if I just ate the hamburger. Just a little thing that happens to a lot of people, I beleive :. However when my computer nears 100% everything starts to lock up and soon after the computer crashes. Now imagine our brains worked the same way. We begin to use too much and we kill ourselves because we were thinking too much. Philosophy is an amazing thing.. Sometimes when walking home from school, I discover i need to unrinate, and so i just hold it in until i get home as SOON as i get past the door, the urge tripples and i feel like im going to explode. Also, outside the house I might feel very very thirsty but when I decide to come in for a drink, the urge is gone. :-k

Randox
AS a result of eating supper in front of the TV for years, I now feel the urge to eat somethign everytime I watch TV. Also, I use the bathroom far more when im in my bedroom (with has it's own bathroom) than I would say at school. My need to pee is directly related to my percived availibity of a bathroom. I never used to use school bathrooms, so I don't think about them being availible, so I never need to use the can when im at school, or in a car.
