Autoers and Randoms

Recommended Posts

Everyone knows that randoms are 90% made to stop autoers, the other 10% can probably be categorized under "good" randoms such as ones that give event clothing. From 54 fishing to 60 fishing I have fished at Catherby(seeing as fishing guild is closed off to me for the moment.

As a general rule either the ugly fish or whirlpool event will happen within three minutes of a spot opening. It can range from 10 seconds to 10 minutes, but as a general rule 3 minutes is average. From my observations these events do nothing to deter the autoers(they have no feelings so extra seconds don't matter to them) but rather hurt the actual paying customers. These same principles apply to all other resource gathering skills.

With whatever choice Jagex makes these randoms should be removed. Ents, golems, and trolls are effective autoer stoppers so they should remain in play. But the whirlpool, ugly fish, Jamaican tree, and steaming rocks should be removed. They do nothing to deter anyone but actual players.

As for autoers, its time Jagex takes a stance. Either they ignore the problem and continue with updating the game, or they take more of there resources and put a dent in the auto population. Ruining the game for its customers is not a good marketing scheme.

I would like to hear all of your opinions on what I said. :P

I agree. The problems with randoms is, nowadays, I see autoers avoiding or completing any random that comes their way, be it Ent, whirlpool, mime, or Drill Demon. I see them running from Evil Chickens, tree spirits, and golems all the time as well, many times even when they first get attacked. So I don't agree with you that those are really effective. :-k

They're getting smarter, and Jagex really isn't when it comes to stopping them. The mass bans do work, but that's a very short period of time that we're low on bots.... then more rush in.

If they mass banned every few days, or once a week, it's help cut down a lot. They just need a permanent solution, because autoers have evolved past silly random events.

Not trying to bash randoms by the way. I only dislike the ones that I get bad rewards from, or if I get teleported and I'm running laggily, so I get logged out. I wub my random clothes. :) And I really like genies and that new one, whatever it's called, you're in the classroom and whatnot.

True they do run away, but not until they are around 2/3rds health and thats more then enough for a killing random to finish it off. While its not that effective, it is ten times better then the whirl pool or ent.

Yeah, I agree. I have absolutely no problem with the fun ones like the Drill Demon, Mime etc. but I can't stand some of those ones that don't give you anything and affect everyone. Like for example those ones that make your axehead fall off (I think they finally got rid of it) it rarely works on macros and when it does its not like it actually hurts them. The only people it works on are people with one phone line. My friend lost 3 rune axe heads after he lost the head then lost his connection. Sure its not that much money but it is annoying to have to go and buy another axe. I guess what it comes down to is the only way to really hurt macros is for everyone to report them not just a few of us, but everyone and if we do we could maybe, just maybe put a dent in them.

Jagex says that they are working on the autoer problems, they're just not publicizing the fact much. Check the rant section of the RSOF theres a sticky about autoers/macroers. I'm sure they're doing what they can, but just like any sector of the internet: you come up with a new defense, and the bad guys come up with a new way around it.

I was in evil bob prison event today and decided to just hang out and watch for a while, 2 lvl 3's in basic clothing with 80+ woodcut both with names Qin##### random numbers came through in the time i was there, and finished the event as fast as the legit players doing it.

They can say that all they want, but I'm not seeing any reduction in autoer numbers. Unless they have some sure fire method that will ban every autoer at the same time they are losing this battle, and just trying to make it seem like they are doing anything.

Because autoers are not played by players, random events don't really affect them (so what, they may lose an inventory of logs ... they can just go cut em down again!).

All that randoms do is hurt actual players, although a few may be okay, Jagex went off the deep end... adding randoms constantly, and most of them are childish and silly.

Ah well, can't win them all I suppose.

i was thingking about randoms the other day and found all of them to be no use what so ever, most of them have like outfits whitch some times you get a set of 3 of them or something you can eat, 20 gold coins or even 100 - 300 exp

i understand why they are there, it is challangeing fomr some people to get distracted every so often and to try and stop autoers but i profer (for example) when i am aiming for 80 wc from 75 i would profer to do it non stop with out getting sent here there and every where

if they make the ramdoms better as in the exp gets boosted up better, i got 82 fleatching and 82 woodcutting on a account if i was to get the book of knowlaeg i would only get 1230 exp and seen there is 252000exp between that exp gain is nothing, it dosent even dint it now if it did 5k to 20k exp (20k beeing a bit high but its a example) it would appeal to me

You've gotta think, that jagex is doing what they can, they're trying to get rid of the macoers and autoers etc etc, but it takes alot of time.

Many of these randoms may not kill the autoers, but they do set them back even if just for a second. Seconds add up, and could potentially be keeping the yew prices from being 50gp ea.

Ok, not one of my favorite topics, but i still have a bit to say. Some of the randoms make the game more "life-like" and should stay in play, and il stop at that. macros/farmers break rules and should be stopped, but not with in-game randoms

+1. Either Jagex ignores them or they should eliminate them completely. There's no middle ground.

It kinda makes it less life-like when i'm getting Mr. Hyde every ten minutes while hunting.

Or jagex could be positive and appoint a macro gestapo. I'd happily take control of the seers village unit, we're given special powers to temp ban anyone who looks like an autoer. This would inevitably result in a few people getting temp banned when they aren't autoers but its for the greater good

That would work better than all of the random events because even if a macro dies from one they just walk back with their axe and continue breaking the rules.

The problem is with randoms/autoers is that the programs have scripts to react when a random event occurs. Hence why it does nothing 75% of the time

I don't know if any of you ever read the "wind of fire trilogy" , but its allot like in the first book where those people keep coming no matter what, they even walk to there death and the others keep coming, walking over them, lol.

God my favorite threads :) <3:

These randoms do set them back acouple seconds and they matter because they make them have 3 less lobs and it adds up until it's 300 less lobs.

But they also keep us from AFK training :P

We GOT TO report them to get rid of them

What if this was added?

If a player was found to be a macroer, he/she/it would be tagged with a large "M" over the head. That would make them attackable by any player, and they could not fight back.

Because players would know that they could just kill autoers for yews/ess/flax, they might stop buying the gold off of the sites and kill the autoers.
