A 17-year-old from Georgia unlocked the iPhone so that it can be used on different networks other than AT&T. Here's an article about it. Hotz posted on his blog that he traded his modified iPhone for "a sweet Nissan 350Z and 3 8GB iPhones." The 17-year-old Hotz said he will be sending the three new iPhones to the three online collaborators who helped him divorce Apple Inc's popular product from AT&T's network. And the three iPod's with 8gb on each probably don't hurt him either. Can't wait until the meaningless people and his friends pour in and yell at him :lol: "wow, doesn't he have a life to live, he did this the entire summer". At least he did something meaningful that will help a lot of people. Any idiot can go to the beach, drink beer and burn his back. How many people can hack an iPod? And he's young, he's got plenty of time to "live" as he seems fit. Restricting hardware to an operator is ridiculously stupid. I already unlocked my 3G Nokia phone's BB5-code like 2 years ago so I can use prepaid cards on it instead of that cursed expensive Vodafone 'subscription' (As if I wanted to subscribe.. Sprint/Nextel, and Verizon use a different network than the rest such as T-mobile, and AT&T. Even if it was unlocked. AT&T is on a long contract to be the sole distributer of iphones for many years to come.
