How do you feel about Defense?

Personally, defense is my favorite combat skill. But, no one seems to like it that much. Beyond just the pures, everyone concentrates on Attack and Strength more. So tell me all, why do you like or dislike Defense and why?

Defense IS armor.

 

 

 

I love defense. It's one of my favorite combat stats but I like to make sure all my combat stats are even.

I have my def at 80, and it will probably stay there until 99 atk + 99 str simply because i have no real problem, and don't take a ton of damage. Probably when i start training slayer again, i will train def more, but it isn't all that important to me. Def doesn't automatically help you, people with 99 def and great armor can still get hit for a max whip/dds hit, but at 99 str you can hit numbers that you cannot at other levels, and attack means you hit every time, if not miss less. Def is probably one of the easier stats to train (whip can train def too :shock: ) but many people simply would rather hit higher, than be hit less.

i recently got 99 at 109 combat, when it comes to pvp defence is almost pointless anyone with over 80-85 attack tends to hit through it like nothing, but it does help when training against monsters

It's great. It means I can train for longer periods of time because the monsters rarely hit me.

I think my 80 def is high enough. Any def training I do is time that could be spent on attack/strength. :P

Personally prayer is my favorite combat state (piety ftw) but defense is the next most important for me, I'd rather not get hit.

it does help against p2p as well i think...saved me countless times when mining rune in the wild...no one has been able to kill me if ive 40+ prayer, around 8 lobs and 100% energy. a 126 tried and i managed to run/walk to lvl 20 wild with extra pray (i didnt pray all the way) and used only around 8 lobbies. note that i was carrying around 20 rune rocks at that time so my weight was around 50+ so 100% energy didnt last more than 10 lvls in the wild.

But it really helps in training and stuff like that. I dont even need guthans for most of my slayer tasks cus i can use use a few sharks. So if you wanted to get all 99 combat skills it would be best to get 99 def first.

Def and Attack ownz, Defence is armor, you get hit much less, making me love it more than str, but attk is still good to have. I also like to keep my combat skills even ;).

Getting 80 attack, then 80 defence, then 90 attack, 90 defence, 99 attack, 99 defence.

Defense is very underpowered. I really noticed no difference from 90-99. Instead of reducing how often your opponent hits, Defense should serve as the antithesis of strength, lowering your adversary's maximum hit. Armor should determine how often you are hit. I'd also like to see Attack determine a minimum hit, and let your weapon accuracy determine how often you hit.

Because of Guthans, against monters, wiht 70+ defense, you can just stay there as long as you want, and your defense level doesn't really matter much. Attack and Strength will help you kill the monster faster and hit higher damage, which most people tend to like.
