Rares back in the old days

There were rune items worth a lot more than party hats in RSC like rune kites were like 2 mil and r2h was like 1m and rb axe was worth 700k

 

when they became available. I remember selling rb axe for 600k and yellow party hat, which i still have. So if i sold it 250m today i be making 2500 % profit.

I think I remember reading kibble mined the first rune ore somewhere but not sure where.

 

 

 

Ya rune was RARE so it was expensive so in theory rune in rsc is todays 3rd Age.

yeah well i never liked the pink hat thats why i never attempted to get one. I remember people always talkin about chewy and gasheart. gasheart didn't have as many hats as people thought unless she sold em around the time of the dupe. She was actually the one that sold me my white back on classic

 

 

 

He sold most of his hats the same day it happened: he smelled how there was something fishy going on and sold majority of his hats. He had many of them and funded 99 smith after selling them, but unlike Chewy, he collected them pretty equally and merchanted while Chewy only collected pinks.

 

 

 

Btw here's his bank during the journey to 99 smith AFTER selling the party hats....

somehow mine and hohto's quotes got messed up lol but yeah you could only take out a certain amt of cash before it booted you so it was a pain. You could deposit a couple million get out of the bank do a couple mill more and repeat

If you think about it, 242M in Runescape Classic was incredible. Let's say that pink hats were 5M at the time, he could have bought 48 with that money. Nowadays, with purple trading at 180 each, more or less, that's 8.6 Billion gp, 4 times the limit. Factor in that Gasheart had a collection of different hats, and with the increased prices of them today, that's easily 10+ Billion gp, possibly more. Not exactly your average bank. :D

I always wanted a Red phat, still do, not to look rich or anything, just because looks kool and its red =P but i know what you mean about the whole bought it for 1 mill then and now you buy it cost alot more, makes complete sense

great read those were the days lol

 

 

 

i made my cash selling runes to members well before rc came out . i had bout 30 ppl selling me nats laws. i would use laws at nat respawn in wildy 7 nats per 2 laws . my main buyer was rainbowdolph. who once traded me 20 white phats for my runes.telling me one day they will be worth alota cash. this trade i declined as i had other goals but trades involing cash were long if you did not talk as u traded you would log out and have to restart.so as i traded i had the odd ... burrrppp

 

 

 

i so badly wanted a rune 2 hander they wer bout 1 mill kites were 2 mill ores wer bout 200k per so i invested all my wedge into 15 rune ores

 

. only to be scamed by a musshia22 impersonator lost 12 ores in that trade but decided to smith the last 3 myself

 

 

 

from then on all my rune/mage trades were with chewy shoes for rune 2handers.that would be exchanged in vorrok for steel certs.

 

then i needed trustworthy runners after a few scams i met up with furybringerx who ran me to 99 keeping all the steel plates/

 

furys last run was 15k rune bars on rs2 and he kept all i made

 

 

 

as all this was going on i met robbinwood who was a prolific rune miner he mined so much paul met him ingame to ask him to slow down. robbinwood introduced me to english king and whitemagem on world 4 west vorrok .and with freesmithing / smelting 99 took 12 months. now i look back i never made a bean during those 12 months .

 

 

 

when not smithing i was addy mining in wild pushing for 85 . altho i never attacked or killed ppl i was attaked most nights . hohto i think i ran from you alot lol zorro toy was another .

 

then i met farmer moe who became my rune rock bodygard he got a good cut from our nights work

 

by this time my game changed i was no longer selling runes but buying rune ores and as time went on more ppl sold so at times i was buying over 1k ores aday smelting smithing 2handers and passing them to my merchant. smither eddy. this alowed me time ingame to earn whilst not wasting time selling and slow trading cash best way to bank cash was to buy rares / certs. fast trades more game time. over time i gave away all my rare pixles to ppl who helped me ingame

I think if you have a phat from the old days compared to now, it should be the same worth. It was the fact that you were smart enough (or just lucky enough) to have kept it while its price rose. (This was a mistake I made with a santa hat. Oh well).
