Futurama
Does anyone have any ways of dealing with stress? I'm under tonnes of it lately. Seriously, tonnes - and I know it's not healthy to let it mount up, so does anyone have any good ways of getting rid of some stress?
Bubsa
Well, the first thing we'll need to know is what's putting you under this pressure. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
knives669
Sometimes it helps me to listen to some music. ^_^ Or simply go out and have a good time with my friends and just sort of forget everything. If the stress is extreme, I go for a walk, or do something physical. I used to swim to relieve stress and found that was a very good way. ^_^ I hope you start feeling better soon. Ginger_Warrior
Going to a gym or taking just a 20 minute walk everyday to reflect on things is a great way to deal with stress. Gets happy hormones flowing through the blood again. :D Music's good. If something's widning you up and dragging your effort rate down, listen to something heavy. I listen to the Lostprophets (which is about as Heavy as I go!) when I'm feeling down, it just amps me up again ready to face whatever's bugging me. Going out with your mates makes you forget about the problem. Having a social life is a must in any scenario. If you feel you haven't got time to socialise - make time. It's better than mopping and getting dragged down by the weight of everything. That's all I can suggest really. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
Ashlyn_Hart
Walking is awesome! I take my portable music player (what ever you use), blare the music, and just walk until I get tired. When I get home, I do feel much better. I'm a married mother that plays RuneScape. Got a problem with that?
ThoseTheBrokes
I'd suggest the sensible, calm option of seeing friends, forgetting about everything whilst you can, having a good laugh and enjoy your day. or my way, MAYHEM@@@ playing music loud, being aggressive towards family members, slamming doors. which consequently doesn't work.. first I'll ask, what do you normally do to chillax? and does it work? ember3579
My advice? Get some AIRsoft guns, set up a bunch of targets, and see who of your mates = best shot. ALWAYS fun, especially when you move on to moving targets (facemask + heavy clothing = good protection, just don't shoot each other in the family jewels.). :XD: :anxious:   You never know which rabbit hole you jump into will lead to Wonderland. - Ember3579Aku Soku Zan. - ShinsengumiYou wanna mess with me or my friends? The Dark Lord
I listen to music and talk to others about what's stressing me if it's that extreme. I've really been through a lot of stress lately. (Look at my signature.) I go to my psychologist about it and I believe I'm getting permanent treatment for gender dysphoria when I'm an adult. We should know what the treatment is, but I won't go into it because of immature kids. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on. Rebdragon
EAT COOKIES. Destroying stuff in video games also calms me down. So eat some cookies while you blow up stuff. That should work. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series. deloriagod
Here's a couple of things that help me deal with stress: -Taking a long walk -A good hard workout -Blaring my music -Beating the hell out of an object (nothing living) -Starting a fire (safely in an bin/fire pit) and watching different things burn. The flames are almsot hypnotizing. Internet Marketing For Newbies
wakka102
I don't stress over anything, I always laugh at people during exams as they pass by me studying and not paying attention to where they are going, tis kinda amusing to me. But if you do have stress issues listening to music is good, also, the best way is just to take off 30 mins to an hour a day just to do nothing or do what you want to do, some kind of low stimulation activity like taking a walk or just napping, it'll do wonders. NightHawK
Ok, if you dont want to read this article then I will take out (in my opinion) the best points. "Look around See if there really is something you can change or control in the situation Remove yourself from the stressful situation Give yourself a break if only for a few moments daily Selectively change the way you react, but not too much at one time. Focus on one troublesome thing and manage your reactions to it/him/her Get enough sleep Lack of rest just aggravates stress Avoid self-medication or escape Alcohol and drugs can mask stress. They don't help deal with the problems Set realistic goals for yourself Reduce the number of events going on in your life and you may reduce the circuit overload Learn how to best relax yourself Meditation and breathing exercises have been proven to be very effective in controlling stress. Practice clearing your mind of disturbing thoughts. Do something for others to help get your mind off your self Work off stress with physical activity, whether it's jogging, tennis, gardening If you want to look into meditation more heres a good website for it www.di-rs.com

dwarfdude3
Easy. Just think about whatever it is that is stressing you, and then realize that whatever it is, it isn't that important. Because really nothing is important, so why stress over things that aren't important? not convinced? http://souljerky.com/_media/swf/ (click on the third one down called 'life') and so you'll see, theres really nothing to stress about at all. Just relax. oh yeah, and check this out:

meol
Don't try to avoid the stressing situation. Get enough sleep. Try to do some sports. Don't eat/drink/smoke in order to get unstressed, that's not healthy. At all costs, don't get a human scapegoat (don't start thinking: "this is all ____'s fault"). Try to get distracted, don't let it overwhelm you. This signature is intentionally left blank.

cremator21
I'd say do anything that takes your mind off the thing causing you stress, preferably something fun and physical. Sumpta
When you're all going rush-rush, it's important to keep the general picture in mind, if you don't want to feel like you're drowning. Is this situation going to last for a while or not? If not, you could try to sweat it out untill you can relax. If it will last a while, it's important to build in moments to "decompress", to let go of the stress for a bit. Take a walk, have a nap, do something fun,... I've heard that there are also specific excercises to do this, if you're having trouble relaxing. If it looks like there'll be no end to the stress in the foreseeable future, it's best to try and "attack" the root of the stress. Weed out the things that bring you stress and look for balance in your life. Nothing is worth a burn-out or your health...
Ragen
Get to bed earlier and have time to reflect on your day. Make plans for the future. I've been pretty stress free for quite a while now (excluding a bit of relationship foolishness) by tackling the problem before it becomes an issue. Some things you can't avoid, like the death of a relative but deadlines and such can be beaten with a bit of buckling down. If you get overwhelmed then take a holiday to sort it out. Or if it's an unsortable type of stress then just let it pass. Whatever is happening, it (probally) wont last forever. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
