New high alchemy method - less money loss than yew longs!

Featured Replies

Do not post that it is better to make the yew longs and/or nats yourself.

This way of thinking does not take into account opportunity cost.

There is another thread on this subject here:

http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=705128

----------------------------------------------------------------

Prices I am using:

Nature rune - 300gp

Yew longbow - 600gp

The method:

Irksol in Zanaris sells infinite ruby rings for 1012gp each which high alch for 1215gp.

(1012 + 300) - 1215 = 97

97gp loss

Yew long method:

Buy nature runes and yew longbows from players for 300gp and 600gp each.

(600 + 300) - 768 = 132

132gp loss

Good thinking 8-)

Amazing idea!

Ya, but you have to stand there all day buying 27 more every inventory, and you don't get fletching/runecraft exp (if you did it that way, and if you did it that way you make a profit :-$ ) also, you cant just keep clicking over and over like you can with Yews, people will stick with Yews because you CAN make a profit, and its easier.

good idea but , i prefere having 10 k NOTED yew long and merchanting while alching . but tanks for the info !!!

something to say about my english grammar ?!?!? , okay , but do it in french !

Not many people go and make yew longs for magic. I think this is the BEST method Iv seen so far, and I might just do it.

That idea is flawed because it does not take into account opportunity cost. You could sell the nature runes and yew longs you make yourself and then do this method.

There is a trade-off with the extra time it takes using this method. You have to decide whether the extra time is worth the money.

Buying that many ruby rings is crazy. Also you can buy yew logs and BS and RC your own nats and make tons of XP.

Thanks though

In my last post I have already addressed this. That idea does not take into account opportunity cost.

You have to decide whether the extra time is worth the money.

Many, many things in Runescape boil down to a tradeoff between Time and Money.

One player might consider a fast but expensive method to be flawed because

of the cost, but another player might welcome such a training method.

or

One player might consider a slow but cheap method to be flawed because

of the speed, but another player might welcome such a training method.

You can see this kind of debate between "Failed Curses vs Fire Bolt"

or between "Buying steel bars vs Smelting your own".

Ultimately, it's up to the player to consider what training method works best for him.

Many players don't like to grind yet many of us are rather poor in game.

The best that we, the community, can do is to point

out the pros and cons of various methods.

Most of the time there is a lot of gray when it comes to a "best method"...

I agree with you, my title was a inappropriate. I have changed it.

you stole my idea, i already posted about that, lol.

I must be getting closer to obtain the "biggest RS loser" award or something....

I don't buy raw material, I chop my own trees (WC xp), I craft my own bs (crafting XP), I make my own longs (Fletching xp), I mine my own ess (mining xp), and I craft my own nats (RC xp), then, I high alch the buggers (mage xp).

Total amount spent: time to gather materials

Total amount gained: 779 per high alch.

Um, what's so wrong about that?

~A lil mage goes a long way~

If you are losing money by using the Yew Long/High Alching method then you are doing in the wrong way. Why would I want to use your method which I lose 97 gp, instead of using the Yew Alching idea where I gain xp and money?

nothing.....if you don't mind spending 2-4 days getting the supplies than 1 day to alch it all..

I personally alch the supplies I create if it's worth it. For example: Steel Platebodies.

j0xPu5R.png

This is good for the people who can't get all their own supplies for yew longs. 70 fletch, wc, 44 rc, takes awhile to get. Not everyone who has 55+ mage wants to spend time getting the requirements to get all their own supplies and then get all their own supplies to finally start alching.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

Happy - you are quite correct to factor in opportunity cost, however remember your audience here. Most will have no idea of what you talk and an explanation of the concept in your first post may help.

I alched from 55 magic to 80 magic - I think this took roughly 30k alchs.

I bought magic logs for 1100 each

I bought bowstrings for 150 each (cheap, but I buy in any amount)

I bought natures for 285 each

I traded my supplies for magic longbows

Total cost per longbow: 1535

Alch value of a magic longbow: 1536

Even if you pay 200 per bs and 300 per nat (there is no reason to do this, you can get for cheaper if you try), you still don't lose what you do when you alch yew longbows.

Yep thats what I do too, except I buy mages 1k ea and bs 200ea and nats 300ea.

However, on your method, if one is banking the ruby rings, they would need a diamond every trip #-o ...in order for this to work, you have to stand there at the store all day alching

Edit:WOOT first compliment on this thread, can't you see he announced a better way then yew longs? You just complain, people like you make me sick -.-

Edit2:Then i mean the people who just complain about them being so much better and not the people who did not.
