Cowhide costs. (ReOpened)

Recommended Posts

Well, as the title says I am mostly annoyed with the cost of cowhides.

My belief is it started like this: A person was desperate to get cowhides one day, so he/she said they would buy it for 100gp each. The one that sold the hides, thought wow that was alot. I'll send these for 100gp each.

Now, my thought is, if someone over-buys these cowhides, it doesn't bother me. But I hate it when someone sells them for 100gp. It's very easy to get these. Yet the only defence I hear is 'you have to go to Al Kharid which costs 10gp and again 10 more gp' or 'It is hard. There's lots of people that kill cows'.

I think that if the cowhides are a 100% definate drop that should lower the price. And plus, the cows are only level 2's!

What are your thoughts guys?

I dont need a siggy no moar.

its true-but the reason people charge or buy for 100 each is because they usually have/need a large amount. And it does take a bit of time to get 1k cowhides or so.

1. The cowpens are usually crowded.

2. It takes a lot of time to get even a 100+

3. It takes some effort, trust me, getting 100+ cowhides and selling them for 100 ea, sounds like a ripoff to you, but for the cow killers, it's pretty *cabbage* hard work.

4. I'd like you to try and get 100+ cowhides, you can actually make more money running newts then killing cows.

100 each is a perfectly fine price to me. Time is money.

Yes, but, one feather comes from a level 1, and loads of people kill chickens too. Plus, they're used for a more profitable skill and they're about 30gp per 10/15

To be honest with you it's not that high..... once you compare it to the amount of xp got for crafting there is a good cost to xp ratio.

The time is more what you are paying for..... not the item: collecting a decennt amount of them is not somthing alot of craftes has the time to do and so they pay sombody to do it for them.

If you really want somthing to complain about..... flax...... 150 gp...... even easier to collect.

Price is determined by supply and demand. Not how easy something is to get.

Something that's easy to get is not guaranteed to be low priced. Hence why you can't compare chickens and cows.

^ I never said that it isn't on supply and demand, it's still a very easily gotten item level and chance likewise.

And if you compare it to feathers... I think not! Feathers are quite in demand, but not close to 100 per 10.

You've only limited yourself by staying level 3. Don't have much choice here, kill the cows yourself or buy at whatever price the cow hides go for..

Hmm limp. a bit wrong. Angry for no reason. Btw, I have decent defences, unlike your 'stfu'.

Anyway, I never said I wanted any cowhides, and I know it may be hard to get it because of the people in there, but why'd they go there in the first place? Someone must've bragged (And the bragging continued.) to others, and they went there. So thus, the price wouldn't go up if the person didn't brag. But let's say, if someone didn't brag, how much WOULD cowhides be? 10-20? -.-

Stop ranting on ideas that you made up. Don't like the price-get them yourself. i don't really see a need for this discussion to go any further than this.

Let's get rid of this topic entirely. You'll never be able to do ANYTHING about the prices, and your basically whining about some cowhides prices, which you juts admited you never even wanted to buy.

It's like someone ranting about the prices of rares saying they aren't rare, etc, but the person never even had the idea of buying one.

Let's close this topic before more flaming of this senseless topic occurs.

You can't compare cowhides with feathers. For one, feathers stack and chickens drop multitudes of them; not forgetting feathers can also be obtained through hunting birds.

No they wouldnt.

100 ea for fastest xp* seems pretty fair to me.

* f2p fastest xp not p2p

Heh I don't even think 100 each is that high. People usually seem to sell for 110-150 each, and if they're selling a lot at one time, I don't mind paying a little extra.

As more people try to merchant them it drives the price up. I've seen umpteen guides which mention cowhides as a starting point for merchanters. Besides, there are other, better way to raise crafting in f2p so why complain?
