nerdattack16
Just wanted to see if that title caught any attention. Right, so the way I see it, we've got a problem. No, not "noobs"... merely the word in itself. Check the Rants forum and tell me how many unnecessary, repetitive, badly-typed and badly-thought out rants do you see about the word? ...Too many. Oh, not just there, either. The word "noob" is, quite frankly, one of the most moronic insults one can use. And the more Tip.Iters I see acting like that, throwing the word around, the more I think to myself that maybe we really are on a quickly declining hill. I'm beginning to see it too much, and the idea that we Tip.Iters, who aren't supposed to sink that low, constantly use the word... well, it irks me. Now, something needs to be done. Obviously, Jagex would probably never ban this word... but what if Tip.It did? Think about it. No more bad rants about it. Maybe a decrease in flames because you can't say "noob"? Aren't we supposed to be the good 'Scapers here, anyway? I came here to try and find a haven from the teeming masses of people that I am beginning to see here. It wouldn't be a big leap, far from it I'm sure. But do you think that maybe... just maybe, it would help Tip.It be a little bit better? Discuss, please. Sig credit goes to ThruItAll. :D
Von_Goon
The word noob is much overused and often people don't know what they're talking about if they have to resort to calling people such. I believe there's a saying, "If you don't have anything constructive to say then don't." The word 'noob' is just one example of people not being constructive. Giordano
If we can't use noob, we'll use nub. If we can't use nub, we'll use narb. If we can't use narb, we'll use /\00b...etc...etc. Not nessesarly the same words, but people will make a new word with the same meaning. Solution to this: Stop thinking noob as a negative word. It literally translates to 'new player' and I do not know why people are getting insulted and writing threads about being called a new player. spooferfish
I've though it was over used for a long, long time. It has lost all meaning and is now just a dumb word uncreative, angry people say.

The Observer
"Nerd", "You have no life..", "8 year old".. yada yada. It's a prime example that people don't have the capacity to construct a good rant without using those words. Personally, I never call anybody a noob to insult them. I never insulted anyone anymore anyway.. But, the word "noob" has no meaning. According to JAGeX, it means "New Player", but obviously, the amount of times it is used, that isn't the truth. It means nothing now.

karlpetter
i agree 100% i hate the word noob. i do not, and i will never, use the word noob. its just so pointless to call someone a noob because they're not exactly as you want them to be. now im angry. saying noob to someone just defines the quality of yourself, not the person you are calling noob. *sigh*

I don't have a dust devil thread on either Tip or RSOF, the only dust devil related thread I ever posted in was in my clan thread "dust devil futility #10" on the RSOF ("my clan" as in the clan i'm in, not the clan I own). Regarding the sig... I suck at graphics. Sorry. And those are yew logs, not ashes. I would actually make something if I didn't suck so badly at graphics. froglegowns
Noob is not a new player to the game. A new player to the game is Newb. Back in the good old days when only people who knew what they were doing used the word noob it was used to refer to people who have played a game for a while but are still clueless and should know better / are to lazy to look 2 minutes for a answer. When this word was first started to be said it was only said in the most deep frustration. It was basicly a way to let our frustrations without getting in trouble or hitting your head on the wall. Nowadays its just a word that has lost its meaning and become a useless insult. Banning the word will not solve anything. There will always be immature people out there who will join sites after they get more and more popular. The best thing to do is ignore it and I know that is hard to do. I have even resorted back to hitting my head against the wall at times.

Jeffery
What's so bad about the word noob, the meaning is a low level player so why can't we say the truth to a "noob" 180th to 99 Divination + 1st W36er Rambo, cannot pk call your friends bro :). Ah, I was waiting for this. Because of the subjective nature of our own existence and our own likes and dislikes (mine, to say, a poorly made graphic... and his to my attitude), we are often going to face a number of behaviors and people we find unpleasant. And rather than trying to explain to someone why their behavior is unpleasant it is often much easier to drop a utilitarian expression of disgust. If someone is so arrogant and ignorant, why even bother arguing? (truly no offense to you, wingedfish, and as to karlpetter, thank you for playing!) edited because i can't spell so there's this thread in p2p general called "the most annoying things ppl do on runescape" i am tempted to post "ya wen im cybering with a girl and they log off for no reason"
