TIF community memories!

You know who's another guy I remember? Theakman_2, or however he did it. I remember he helped me a ton with my landscapes -- definitely owe a lot to him.

Wasn't Theakman caught doing something shifty though? Not really certain what it was, but I remember him being called out on something, whether it was stealing other peoples' work... I don't remember what exactly. After that he either left or was banned.

Or did I dream all that?

I don't think so, at least I never heard of any of it. I don't think he did though -- he knew a lot.

We moved to scapeboard.com for a long time, and I remember when someone calling himself "Bob Marly" [sic] hacked both Tip.It and Zybez. In 2004, we moved back to the Tip.It domain.

Ahh, memories.

That's the memory I usually mention in threads like these, one of the few big things that I remember. The other was a big hoopla over someone that everyone thought was a girl actually turned out to be a guy, and he acted like a girl for a year or something as part of a school assignment.

Good ol' camobizkit. Guy really started a [cabbage] storm when that was revealed

poor poor pip :uhh:

Of course after bragging to people about it (haha) we found out a few weeks later that he had been ripping all of his signatures for years.

I have a vague memory of this. What were the details?

His name is on the tip of my tounge... I want to say it started with an "M".

Details wise I remember he used to be a fairly respected abstract artist, and he always had a problem with text. I think it was one day he posted something new and a guy found out that hidden in the mess was an abstract piece from DeviantART.

Wait, do you meen Metroid? He also ripped signatures. :-k

I dont think he was a Tip.it user for that long, but it could be.

A shame, I really believed he was very good at combining Terragen and Photoshop+Renders all together.

Man I loved raichase

Aw. Man. Where did he go?!

I remember thedepressedsquirrel, runesmithie, Bubsa's songs, and the big MSN TIF conversations. :P

I remember that one guy who claimed (on one of these MSN convos) that he was trapped in his own home. And that his parents wouldn't let him leave. I have the conversation saved on my computer at home. I'm going to post it later on today.

Oh hell yes.

I remember his post in rants, specifically the one time where a random made a thread about 'pier' pressure, and Raichase replied with:

"Pier pressure? Yes, I can see it now. A large jetty creeping up on you, and smacking you in the back of the head..."

I can't remember the rest.

He was such a creative and unique troll :P

As for my own memories, I remembering signing up on Scapeboard, getting flamed for thoughtless posts, then leaving. I tried again in '06 on these forums now, took a little flak, but hung 'round.

Also, wasn't there some guy here in OT that claimed he was a billionaire, lived in a huge mansion and had a lion as a pet? He posted pictures of the lion and the mansion if I recall correctly (well, at least the lion) but it wasn't until like, page 20 or so that someone found out he had found the image on google. He then left... then came back a while after... and then left again. I think his name was Raichu or something like that.

That was a fun thread.

Yeah.. I think he never gave up and admitted he was lying afterall.

Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life.

Haha, I remember that one. He said like the fridge was locked or something, so he was gonna use skype to call the pizza man and escape or something like that...lol...

Possible. My memory of the whole thing isn't too fresh. I just remember that the guy had some anime-ish name, claimed he was a billionare and that he owned a lion.

Nice memory, Azvy. You've come up with quite a lot. I love looking back on stuff like this. I remember the media board at its peak - including that list you came up with. I thoroughly enjoyed spending my time there.. and still have multiple signatures Witty made me a long, long time ago. I tried my hand at some graphical art but I mostly just observed (for good reason).

I remember Clan Discussions being at a similar peak.. and my participation there as staff. I'll always remember when Cloak(sim) invited me to become staff in Oct. 2003.. but I didn't really get a chance to know her too well, which was too bad as I enjoyed our communication before I became part of the team. I wish webarchive was a bit more expansive. Well really, I wish we had the old Scapeboard database back. I didn't really appreciate the (older) content that was on the forums--private and public--before it was too late.

And yeah, Sunli easily pulled ahead of us in post count for awhile there. :)

Heh :P Didn't help when Tip.it banned me for a month for telling that troll Woman where to go (In defence of him/her/it telling me to 'Piss off and die') GG Tip.it X 2

And was Keiphus the one that made the signatures in the style of Meili's? Not strictly that style of course... but that certain type of sig always stuck in my head.

Hmm, I think that was "Domicus_UK" (can't for the life of me remember exactly what his nick was). He started making tons of those and they gradually became more and more complex, until most of his sigs were just huge mazes with line art and animations. A few of them even had smileys in them doing different things. Each one must've taken him hours to make. I don't know if it was during this period that he started making smileys and animating them, or if it was earlier. He started taking requests for smileys at one point anyway. They became quite popular.

Every now and then, tip.it has a competition, in which the winner gets to pick their 'rank' title (within reason). For example, there was a signature competition for one quite a while back.

Haven't had one of those competitions for awhile, thinking about it.

How do people get personalized avatar tags?

You mean the text bit? Most mods and admins used to have custom ones, at least back on Scapeboard, and when they left the staff team I think no one bothered to change them back.

There were also a few contests in which you could win a custom one. I won one of those, but like I said in my post it was lost when Scapeboard's database disappeared, and then when they started this forum (TIF) they refused to give it back to me.

I also think they had one of those contests maybe a few months ago? Was some big announcement about it anyway.
