A black butterfly during a funeral.

Featured Replies

Today, I saw a black butterfly - or was it a moth?- during my auntie's funeral. We were quite early, and it was there since the start. I think I'm the only one who noticed it (It was perched on the stained glass, quite hard to see) As we were leaving to go the cemetery, it flew outside and up, to heaven I hope :)

My auntie died last Saturday. A car skidded on a wet road and hit her from behind; she never knew what hit her. She was instantly unconcious and died a few minutes later.

Whether it's a coincidence that the butterfly was there, I still think it was a sign. She touched a lot of people as a nurse since 1975 and as a great friend overall. She's one of our only direct relatives here in the UK. She's at a safe place now, she's always with us xx <3:

Quiet unusual about the butterfly,

sad to see your auntie die, do not be too sad.

Perhaps a coincidence, but nonetheless it's still quite symbolic.

I'm sorry to hear about your Auntie too, but let's not turn this into a sad thread  smiles all round.

So did she die right after the wedding was over?

Might want to fix that.

Wasn't trying to offend, and with you I doubt I will. :-s

Ack, thanks for pointing that out.

Ultra Unholy,

Exactly like hell butterflies in Bleach.

Peace to your aunt, peace to you and your family, and remember to smile. Try looking for that butterfly again also.

Sorry for your sad loss and I wasn't sure to post on here not at risk of sounding insensitive. As comforting as it may be it just sounds like a day flying moth which can look very much like black butterflies.

Once again i am sorry for your loss, I am just very sceptical.

Sorry to hear, it sounds like something from a movie..

Hangin loose. Marrentil can die.

Hell butterflies in Bleach are used as radios, aren't they?

Well anyways, I think that was cool. R.I.P

Hello friend, Senajitkaushik was epic, Good luck bro.

Sorry about your aunt, how old was she? (If you don't mind saying)

I don't know what a Hell Butterfly is, but it sounds like a coincidence that it was there. I didn't even know there were black butterflies though?

Hmm... That sounds creepy.

Sad to hear about your Aunt.

I'm sorry for your Auntie. My granddfather died last Friday, I feel your pain.

Anyway, that's pretty cool/ironic/creepy. And it does remind of the Hell Butterflies from Bleach.

Exactly like hell butterflies in Bleach.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Very symbolic, it's a good thought to cherish, a very good thought that should enlighten the burden of death.

Good thoughts to you. :)

She wouldn't want you to be sad, so smile. :)

Sorry about your aunt  but, the butterfly is quite symbolic. Now go write a poem about it!

Thanks guys. Everywhere I go, I see flowers by the roads meaning that somebody has died there. What I didn't expect is that I'm going to be one of the people affected by road accidents

What's there to be skeptical about? He was only talking about it being symbolic. He's not trying to prove that the moth was his aunt.

Sorry for your loss. I have lost both grandmothers and an uncle this year.

My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley

I had a very similar experience to you.

I was walking to the bus stop on my way to work and a yellow butterfly followed me for 15 mins and landed on my nose as I stopped.

My phone rang and it was my friend̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s sister saying my friend had just passed away when his car skidded out of control in to an on coming double semi.

On the day of the funeral I was filling out the memory book of comments to be burnt with his ashes and a yellow butterfly came past and landed on my nose again.

It was quite comforting if you've seen my tattoo before it has a yellow butterfly with the Egyptian sign for life in it's wings on my back.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
