my favorites are the guys who, while you're standing in line waiting to get into a concert, come around and ask you to sign thier petition trying to shut down kfc or some nonsense.

is that teacher by chance Robin Roth? my teacher was the same way freshmen year

It's good that your teacher challenges your ideas, it makes you think about what you believe and helps you think for yourself. When I did Modern Studies(which consists of politics) at high school, our teacher challenged our beliefs and views constantly no matter what they were and no matter how they reflected/conflicted with his own opinions, constantly playing devils advocate with us.

 

 

 

What did was make us think for ourselves rather than doing what alot of people do - just blindly follow the beliefs of our families/parents.

The people who say "you cant state views" you're probably in the stage of school where you learn english, maths, science etc. When you get to the higher echelons of school, taking the likes of philosophy, advanced history and politics teachers will teach opinions but when you answer they will either use their own beliefs to challenge those or just use the opposite opinion. This is only useful for people who are open to criticism and not for those small minded people who would ignore other peoples views. Insulting a teachers views by "walking out of the class" is a walk back to the past and ignorance.

This is clearly different to the situation in the OP. What you are talking about is stimulating discussion and opinion sharing when it's in good spirits and topical to the climate of the class and syllabus. This is clearly not the impression from the teacher in the OP.

Bring a nice, bloody steak to class, sit down in your seat, and eat it. While you are eating this steak, make sure that everyone in the class can see and hear you enjoying it. :lol:

Get warrior to help you whip up a paper on the pros and cons of eating no meats or poultry whatsoever, and list all the items that wouldn't exist if not for the use of animals (humanely killed, of course, not butchered alive and kept alive for further use (which I believe is a life sentence in and of itself)). I bet that she'll either A) do something that she'll regret later or B) stop with the propaganda and do her bloody job.

People that think animals have rights to, anyway three things,

 

 

 

1. Your teacher sounds like my idiotic English teacher plus my go green/earth friendly science teacher.

 

 

 

2. I'm one too and could we at least be a little respectful, we're not freaks of nature and most of us aren't terrorist so try toning it down if you want to have a reasonable discussion.

I once knew a teacher who tried very hard to push her ultra-radical environmentalist views on students and fellow staff members. She had posters up and everything.

 

 

 

In response, the other teachers in her staffroom started photocopying large articles and textbook excerpts for use in class. Some dealt with environmental management, just for irony.

Yeah, I'm a meat eater but I knew that fact a long time ago. Heck, when I was in biology classes 10 years ago, one of the first things about environment harming gases we learned of, was methane. Cows and other domestic animals produce masses of methane, significant enough to even challenge traffic's CO2 emissions.

I really can't stand this kind of thing: When teachers use their position to influence students and push their own personal agenda. I had a extremeist liberal for an english teacher last year and all he did every time it came up, was bash Christianity and bash our government (not even the current administration) and bash Republicans in general. Now I'm not saying that I like ANY ONE of those things, in fact I'm an agnostic and don't give a rip if Christianity is bashed, but I know, being from a rural town, that there are many students who have strong beliefs in the higher powers and it very much offended them. I don't think that teachers should be able to do anything like this. You teach your subject, not your political standpoints or moral issues.

That's not the issue at all, he wasn't saying that he felt offended, the issue is that a teacher is using her position of influence over children to try and push a one sided personal agenda which is not related to the curriculum.

The above post is why my faith in humanity is almost completely shot. -.- This is immature for a few reasons.

 

 

 

 

 

1) She's a teacher. Even IF she was hot (uncommon at best), she's not gonna fall head-over-heels for a snot-nosed twerp such as yourself, ESPECIALLY at the risk of her job, standing, and freedom.

 

 

 

2) If she was really gorgeous, she probably has a boy/girlfriend already.
