Good Birthday Gifts?

Featured Replies

Well, the holidays and my birthday are approaching next month, and my parents keep bugging me about what i want...and i just cannot think of anything other than an ihome speaker system.

For your info, im a 16 year old male

Whats hot these days? and is there anything that i should get for the holidays?

Any advice would help. Thanks ::'

Well I'm not surprised they don't know what you want, you haven't given us much to work with!

What are your interests? Sports? Which sports? What games? What music? What movies? What books? Do you play any instruments? Could you use some sort of hardware other than this speaker system? Maybe an iPod, new TV, DVD/HD-DVD player, new computer etc?

Maybe a car?

If you can't decide now, just ask for cash and decide later.

Ooo, ooo, good topic, I'll jump on this one and ask the same question. It's my birthday on the 24th of December (yes I know, I know, poor me right..), and it will be my 21st.

My family keep asking me what I want, and I want something not so... Materialistic, I don't want something I will enjoy for a few months, then get over it. I was thinking along the line of a watch (even though I'm not a huge watch wearing person (haven't worn one since I was 11)) it would be a good gift 'cause I'd keep it forever, and it will be the present I got when I turned 21..

Anyone else have any ideas? (Don't mean to hijack your thread, thought I'd add to the discussion :P).

What sort of price range are we looking it, because unlike some people among us, we don't all get a car for our birthday...

My birthdays coming up next month (I'll be 18), and what I want is a really neat hat. You know, something that walks a fine line between "Look at me, I have a sweet hat that you never even thought to wear" and "Look at me, I'm a loser who is trying to be unique". Yea, that's the good stuff right there. It will make me feel better while I ride the bus.

Money is the best way when in doubt, and sometimes you can get more money than the what they would give you as a present in value. 8-)

Money is the greatest way to say "I love you but I really don't care".

Think what your hobbies and your interests are, people. Since we actually don't know you the best we can do is take stabs in the dark and hope you like one of them, which isn't exactly efficient. Are you into comics? Ask for a set of brushes and nibs. Like sports? Ask for gear, or tickets to a game. Obsessed with video games? Ask for a few new releases.

The surest way to get a gift that you'll end up using a lot is to involve it with one of your hobbies.

Do you what an increasing number of 16 year olds are doing nowadays.

Get a black iPod, an ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã80 fringe cut and then still have the audacity to claim your life is miserable.

I just had my birthday a week ago (21 years old now). I got an 8 pack of socks, 2 pairs of long underwear, and a nice shirt.

It's pretty nice to get what you need, it's less you have to worry about getting yourself.

personally I'd go with a pink ipod, its more individual.. but its personal preference I guess.

I used to find it really difficult to shop for friends and family. I mean, I typically spend 30-40 quid per head. Now if there's something people want at the price, they usually go out and buy it themselves. How are you supposed to buy something for them that they don't know they already want, but will enjoy it anyway? lol

So I've adopted a simple strategy.... I ask them what they want

Jokes of course, but seriously a car for your 16th...lucky bastard! <.< :P

Though I suppose it doesn't rate to those teenagers on 'my super sweet sixteen' on MTV. Their getting Mercs for their 16th's. Lucky them.

Just because they get a car for their birthday? that doesn't make them happy, but spoiled swines. If you don't know what to ask other than the IHome system, don't ask for anything else. It would just be things you don't really want.

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

Ask for the speaker thing seen as you actually appear to want that... And ask for an IOU to be redeemed at any point. :P

Jailtime? Use the IOU.

Need a new left testicle? Use the IOU.

iPod breaks down before your next birthday? Use the IOU.

Lots of things can be solved with an IOU.
