blakdragon39
So, I've finally run into the situation of Christmas and a boyfriend, and not knowing what to buy :(. And it gets harder because... his birthday is 15 days after that :P. I have a few ideas, but I was hoping for some actual advice from some people that might know better than me. There are a couple books that he wants, (about Tommy Lee and Motley Crue :P) but they're expensive, so he hasn't bought them yet, and I thought that might be a good oppurtunity to get him something that he actually wants. But then I thought... would it be lame to get him books for Xmas/Bday? He isn't the type to normally read, but he does want them. My only other idea so far was red Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. He used to like those shoes a lot, but now EVERYONE has them and have basically become an emo trait in our school, so he doesn't like them as much. I dont' know if it's such a good idea, because he has expressed disinterest in them. Thats my only other idea though. Anyone else know of any other good ideas? (Maybe this thread might even help out a couple other people :P.) Thanks in advance to anyone who can try to help :). (He also said he might like flowers :o. I think I'll get him some too, but that won't be part of the gift.)
greenslime89
A few vouchers for his favourite shop? Or vouchers, hand written by you with some wee things on it e.g. Good for 1 hug He might appreciate the more personal touch, but get him something else as a "real" gift. Remember he probably won't expect anything too lavish. Photos!
BlueLancer
All guys like sports cars or cadillacs. Just a hint. Alternatively, make something all by yourself. 8-) Even if you're on a budget, you can make a great looking cake. And if it tastes good, it's leaving a much better impression and permanent positive memory, than a $20 gift card to a clothing store where every decent shirt costs $50. Bubsa
I'd probably ditch the shoes idea :P Yeah, would you mind telling us how old he is going to be? This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
99pulse99
To be honest i doubt he will be expecting anything special, but if your that worried about getting him something then do what i do and just ask. MPM
I'm getting books for Christmas from my fiancee, and I'm perfectly happy with that. I'd keep away from gift certificates though. While their a good thought, it just doesn't show deep thought about what they like. ~M

Unless we're talking about snake, viking or pirate rings of course. A subtle silver/gold necklace is a stylish gift though. 8-) Not like "MTV-rapper" big, but not "baby's baptizing necklace" small either. Something he wouldn't be embarrassed to wear in public or with friends. The best gift you could give him doesn't cost anything   A Hug? Alina
Lol! "MTV Rapper" Big? Anyway, That's the type of thing I was talking about. My "Close Personal Friend" bought me a Golden necklace last year with a cross on it. Ginger_Warrior
Last year, my GF at the time (way to make me sound easy #-o) got me a frame with a picture of the two of us hugging in it. I loved it. I honestly couldn't have thought of anything more loving or thoughtful TBH. That's me though. I'm just soppy. :P If he likes those books, go for it. There seems to be such a stigma about getting people books for their presents. Probably because of the disdain so many people have for books, or reading in general. Tsk tsk tsk :shame: Something I never understood, either. Command the Murderous Chalices! Futurama
Let me put it this way. Last year my girlfriend bought me family guy seasons, chocolate fingers, and all sorts of small gifts - what's the best thing she gave me that year? The card, because she told me how happy she is to be spending christmas with me and hopes every year of her life is going to be as good as this one was. Simply put, if you really, really want to give him a great christmas present, find a way to tell him through a gift. and buy him a little something material like that book too to keep him occupied whilst you're doing all your girly things on boxing day  Im sure you can think of something you two have mentioned, i've no doubt he's dropping hints all over the place. Surprise him!
blakdragon39
about Tommy Lee and Motley Crue They're is one about Tommy Lee? You sure you don't mean Nikki Stixx : the heroin diaries Yes that is the one :). He's turning 17, for people who still wanna know :P. He doesn't wear jewelry, so that ideas out :P. However I'm pretty sure I'll get him at least one, if not both of those books, depending on the cost, cause I do have a bit of a budget :(. Gift cards... no :P. Not personal at all. I'm trying to put as much thought into these as I can xD. But thanks to everyone who's responded, and I wouldn't mind more :o.
Icingdeath
Hand-make him a card, tell him you love him inside it. Honestly, that's all I'd really need for Christmas to make me perfectly happy. Anything that you put even an ounce of thought and personal touch into is bound to make him feel loved, cared-for, appreciated. Any or all of the three would be nice. Yeah, call me sappy or effeminate but honestly, even the 'manliest' of men would love something like that, I guarantee it. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
