So, how popular is runescape?

 

well, the way i see runescape has had so many hits that is literly has taken over the world

To what extent has runescape affected us, and the internet today?

 

 

 

is it because of all the money being traded in for game cash?

 

 

 

or is it because there are so many people involved with online gaming that there isnt 1 person out of 10 that hasnt tried it

um, runescape hasn't effected us all that much.

 

 

 

Mostly only people fram ages 10-20 play. It couldn't have effected us all that much.

 

 

 

And i really dont see how this could be a discussion.

Becuase Runescape is free to play, its very popular around the place. If you ask someone if they have heard of Runescape or even played it, they will normally reply 'Yes', ive seriously never heard anyone say they have never heard of it. Most people have negative views on the game, mainly becuase they suck at it, or a just lieing and do play it, but feel 'embrassed' about admitting they do.

 

 

 

Many other games you can say are 'Taking over the world', but if you needed to pay for it to play, I think it wouldnt be very big at all...Seeing games like Guild Wars, World of Warcraft and even some FPS are coming into view for gamers.

Saying that is just as good as saying "I don't know how many people I've seen waste their lives on online games". You can't really automatically assume that if people were to not play online games they'll spend their time doing something productive instead. What stops people from doing drugs/being influenced by other things if they don't have something else that distracts them?

 

 

 

OT: I don't think RS has really had that much of an effect on us - at least for most of us anyway.

Yes this game has affected alot of people. Taken over some peoples lives, given others a new one, others a better one, others even have had thiers taken as a result from it...(in theory, im sure it happened at least once.)

 

 

 

I do find it amazing how certain things effect the world greater then others, that one would think, would revolutionize the world.

 

 

 

Funny stuff, but yes I would say judging by those results your computer isn't very in-tune with reading your mind, aka your search entry, or that maybe this game has reached alot of people in the time its been out.

Agreed, However cash flow / income is hardly a comparable term remind you when comparing these two games.

 

 

 

Afterall, lets say half of runescape's total say 2million players are members. A million members paying 5 dollars a month...yes say they all pay 5 dollars a month and are americans too if you want :lol:

 

 

 

Point of the matter is that 5million pales in comparision to the 15million that world of warcraft can make in the same time frame just because it costs more. Lets not forget that if you count the cost of the first time purchase of the disk that that number rises even more.

 

 

 

Anyways, now that I think about it, this is a kinda pointless thing to point out as I believe wow has more paying members then rs does, maybe even more members total, no clue really.

quite often i'll be searching youtube or something similar and i'll get links to something runescape related when i wasn't sarching that at all. i think maybe because its so much easier to search the web while playing rs compared to other games that it becomes a popular search topic.

It is better than watching most TV shows, which is the time it takes up for me. Those late evenings when you want to watch tv, but nothing is on.. Runescape time. Judging by your map, people would rather play Runescape than "watch tv", but of course some people play it excessively, or do not manage their time well.

Anyways back on topic:

 

 

 

My friend isn't the smartest guy around usually got C or C+, and always showed up for classes last year. When I introduced him to ruenscape he completely changed. He skips 2/3 days at school and when he does go he skips a few blocks, he's failing 5 subject. When he ski[ps he goes to a local Futureshop and plays there until closure. On weekends he comes there at 9 in the mornuing and plays till 9 at night qwhen they close. On average every week he plays about 60 hours... I really hate that because he was one of my best friends. By the way he had at least over 20 accounts and not any of them are 70 or more.. he just pkes all day

I'm older than 20 (no kids) and play after work to unwind and disconnect from the workday behind me. I have other friends my age who play, too. It's a stress reliever.

Question here, mighty overlord...who the hell made you boss? Does it really matter if they gave up their time for RuneScape. You only live once and I'll rather see people what they want to do not harming others than forcing to operate as a 'normal' person.

uhh sure..

 

its a canadian search with the images set to extra large.

 

 

 

go on google.com and search it while the pics show all sizes and see what you get.

 

 

 

edit: i found runescape on page 7, at least its the first thing to be different than the earth.

I see that you have got a lot of hits here that has with Rs to do. I tried to search for "World Map" on the swedish version of Google, and I didn't get a single picture of the RS map before page 17. Before I had seen loads of Wow ones, most problaby since Wow is much more popular in Sweden than RS.

 

But it's still very nice to see that you in your country's version have got so many images of the RS map. Sure RS is taking over the world ;)

Runescape may be the 4th most popular MMORPG (according to various different soruces) but it's not taking over the world. Even if you bias the results.
