The ULTIMATE God Wars Dungeon Guide

Version 2.2, designed for Tip.It Forums and Legion of the Crusaders Clan forums ONLY

Posted Image

Introduction

On the 28th of August, 2007, Runescape saw the release of the God Wars Dungeon. The dungeon is buried beneath the frozen wastes north of Trollheim, and packed with hordes of monsters in a multi way combat area, most of which are aggressive. At each corner of the roughly rectangular dungeon, there is a barrier requiring 70 in a specific skill to bypass, and sometimes an item as well. Behind the barrier is another pack of angry monsters, and behind them, a second barrier that will require you to defeat 40 members of that army to open.

The true intent of these dungeons lies behind the second barriers. An extremely high level monster lies behind the second barrier, as well as their three minions. All of these monsters are capable of dropping extremely valuable items. Unfortunately, they also take coordination, teamwork, and a good strategy to kill efficiently.

This guide assumes you have some basic knowledge of the God Wars Dungeon, and have visited at least once (if only to place the entrance rope.)

Welp. That's pretty much it. Here's a few sample inventories, and then the credits. Remember, DO NOT COPY THESE INVENTORIES EXACTLY. THEY ARE MEANT AS GUIDELINES ONLY. There are some general rules in a section further up to how to design your first inventory. Use that to create your first, and then customize it as you see fit based on your past experiences.

Also, a certain person from TIF (Who lieks Mudkipz and Cooked Bread) apparently refered to my older guide for inventories. If you're too lazy to make a picture for reference, send a request to me via PM. I'll continue adding new inventory screen shots to this section if requested. Keep in mind my levels aren't that high, and I'm kind of poor so I won't necessary be able to put on fancy stuff for the pictures (I'm only 136 with 93 range, and I'm kind of limited to about 700-800M bank value.) I also have a life (whatever that is) so don't expect pictures to appear instantly.

Sample Inventories - Read the Disclaimer first

”Credits”

Closing word:

Sorry. I fail as a comedian. At least the information should prove somewhat useful. Thanks for reading the guide. If you see any problems (bugs, typos, etc.) go ahead and post about them. I'll get to them some day. Maybe.

Lights out.

Not bad, two additions:

First off, try having a tank who only drinks sara brews. His stas will be drained, but this way his priority is healing instead of bothering to attack. It's really not worth it and gives the tank one less thing to worry about.

Second, if the non-tanks use guthans you an save quite a few supplies. I managed to do a full blown trip and only ate a 4 pieces of food. More supplies = more for the tanker.

I've never been to Bandos before, so I can't commend on the content of the guide. But it is very detailed and well explained, it's totally clear to me. Great work!

There is one little typo though.

Sergeant Strongstack, Steelwill, and Grim[bleep]e (All around level 140) are General Graardor’s 3 minions. Strongstack uses melee attacks, Steelwill uses magical attacks, and Grim[bleep]e uses range attacks. Killing them as quick as possible is no good, as they respond almost instantly when General Graardor remains alive.

Thats a bad idea, as you tank isin't always overwhelmed. The added damage can be veru useful.

I usualy bring a sup set to further minimize damage and do mroe damage.

I already added a section about using Guthans. I considered mentioning both the super set and the pure brews, but seeing as I've tried it all three ways, this still feels like the best method.

Graardor attacks roughly half the time with range. With good range defense, he misses about half of the time. That means he has approximately a 25% chance of striking you. His max hit is 35, so usually, 2 doses of brews heals that, and it takes 3 doses before you use a restore. In addition to that, his attacks are slow.

Seeing it from that perspective, if your tank does nothing but heal, he is wasting a lot of time just standing there. However, since you use brews at least once every 2-3 kills, super sets are also inefficient.

Guthans does work fairly well, and is listed in the last section I recently added.

I get your point, however to me anyways, he uses his range atk much less then melee. It also does not hit that much. I have pretty trustworthy friends, and keep my health at 50 befopre potting. I also always pot above 10%, sup restore, then sup set. The def does wonders....

If you arn;'t counting on damage, then theres no point to sup restore.

Godsword specials are very unreliable against these bosses, you can't really count on them hitting. Otherwise, that would be a good suggestion.

And I noted your steel darts trick, thanks for the suggestion.

Long Quote

Like I said, I know that method. I've used it on multiple occasions, and while our trips last roughly the same amount of time, we got a few more kills per trip.

Also, with my normal tank gear, I use a brew roughly once every 2 rounds. With this setup, it's easy to finish 50 rounds a trip with a good team. Mathematically, that means I'd need 25 super set doses, or roughly 6 potions.

You use about 5-6 prayer potions during the trip if you're not bothering with stats, and 7-8 restore potions as they also give more prayer than prayer potions do. You save 2-3 spaces by not bothering with restores. From my experience, the loss of the damage capacity is not worth those 3 brews.

I was just about to write a sara guide, as no one else has written a good one yet. Nice guide, obviously extensively researched and tested. =D>

I do have a few tips for sara. When I was going to sara, I pretty much only duoed her. My partner and I finally worked out a method to get 6-7 kills per trip. Myself, being the lower combat, would be a tank. Verac skirt and helm, guthans plate, dfs, etc. I would run along one wall while my partner attacked. This kept her on me, and only let her hit me 1-3 times per pass. My partner would drink a super set and just hit away.

I also find that if you are not in a team of 4+, veracs is better then a godsword. With a 3 man team of veracs we can get 12-15 kills a trip. But with a four man team of god swords, we could get 20-30 kills a trip (depending on the experience of the team). I find that super attacks and strengths are a waste of space better filled with brews. In my opinion, 14-16 brews and 7-9 super restores work better.

Sara is my favorite boss. When done correctly, she is one of the easiest boss and most fun (lots of action :P ).

Do you plan on doing an armadyl guide? If so I’ll let you know my current method, which is still being tweaked each day. Currently in a duo trip we can get 10-12 boss kills a trip, but I know there is room for improvement.

I live at god wars, doing 6-10 trips a day. Let me know if you ever want to go.

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

I'm gonna guess Artemis1330 is your username. I added you and if I have time I'll take you up on that offer.

And yes I'm going to write an Armadyl and Zamorak Section. With 2 people, I get 5-8 Kree kills, and with 3 I can get 12-16. I haven't tested with 4.

And the method I wrote about gets 40+ kills easily with decent drops.

the zammy godsword can freeze sara boss unless it hits 0 which is rare(maybe :? )

Also spec uses up 60% so a whole team wielding zammy godsword can be useful and help the trip and this also means u dont have to take another zammy item....

Another very well written, very detailed (and very frightening) part of your guide. This is definitely the best GWD I've seen.

Went to my first sara trip today :D

we were 4 ppl total - 2 veracs, 1 ranger, 1 using zammy gs

Specs were working fine 3/4 of the time and the gs was hitting really well

Worst part was when we are following the boss and she changes target(we are all on top of eachother when this happens) because of that, we all run away not knowing who she really attacked....we come back, one of us gets owned then that person continues running :|

Another part was when i ran too far away and she stops following but when i came back she comes and attacks me again <.<

In the end of ur trip, we had supplies for 1 more kill and thats when i died at the lair because i was busy drinking alot of sara brews and i stopped running....she catched up and killed me :wall: didnt bother coming back though :XD:

Also, be aware that Soma and I are still going to Sara GWD and I'm a fan of testing out new ideas that I think might work, so if we find anything that works like a charm, he'll improve his guide further :D
