Cheating at Tests.

Have you ever cheated at tests?

Some people say its for lazy people, some cheat alot.

A friend of mine had discovered that an Art teacher had put the upcoming test (for past friday) at a website our whole school uses, ItsLearning.

The teacher mustve forgot to put it on 'Hide from students', because everybody could download it if they wanted :P

So my friend had downloaded it, questions/answers/images, everything. It had been online for about 2 days before he did hide it, and he gave us the same test. :-s

Me, the one above and another friend (lets call him 'M') were the only 3 who knew about it, so we had made a pretty great test :)

Today, the one who downloaded the test had told me that an art teacher had questioned 'M', he asked why M had made only 3 mistakes  He told me M started shaking, but he lied and the teacher seemed to believe him.

Everybody gets 3/10 and 4/10 for tests like that, and he will probably get a 9/10 or something

[/story], post yours here.

If people cheats they are not only cheating themselves but they are cheating their teachers. How on earth can one of your teachers know that you are struggling if you are getting 9/10 on tests. You won't receive the help you need and then when it comes down to a major test when you can not cheat you will fail miserably, but if you never cheated in the first place, it would of never happened. Cheating is just pathetic.

I was seriously considering it with this last final I had (intro to graphics) because I needed a 93% on it to pass the class. However, I decided against it and instead just studied like a mother -- managing to pass the class. :P

Last year, my French teacher was 72 years old. He was nearly deaf. So um...His tests were quite easy. I would've gotten the same grade even if I didn't cheat, but it was nice having a reinforcement. A "just-in-case".

Earlier this year, my friend and I were sitting next to each other in math, during a quiz. I misread a question, and my friend happened to notice. He whispered to me my mistake, but I didn't change it. Mainly because I already handed it to my teacher once, but she told me to go back and circle my answers. Any erasing would've been suspicious. The weird thing is, my teacher put an X next to it, but gave me the points for it. o.0

I wouldn't cheat on big tests, math meets or standardized tests.

Vocab tests for French and Italian...of course!

I also hear about every science test and most of the answers before the actual test but I do very well without cheating in that subject  .

Those are only small tests and I don't cheat on anything major, now that's plain stupid (doesn't stop some people in my year, even on GCSEs).

I agree, if you would cheat without stopping you will go down once.

But if you cheat the right way (every now and then, only when you need to, only when the chance is there) cheating could be very useful.

Besides, the teacher should be able to discover someone who is cheating.

I used to cheat. Not anymore. Because I realised that it isnt helping me at all and that it just makes me want to cheat even more. Besides, how can you cheat for your GCSEs or SATs? Unless you find an answer sheet then youre pretty much screwed if youre too used to cheating. Dont Cheat. It will help you...........No really....

Cheating on a test is still cheating on a test, as its been said before, you are stopping the teacher from knowing if you are needing any help, and if you do need help on something you got right on that test, you sir, are screwed.

Cheating on a game isn't as bad, as long as you try without cheating first.

If I think I can get away with it, I'll probally do it. I learn my stuff before exams though so there is little need for it. I'm doing my mock exams at the moment and I haven't cheated because I know that I'd only be cheating myself.

The only time I ever cheated in my life was last year in AP World History. My friend stole a copy of the test with all the right answers so we wrote all the answers on a notecard and I hid my card up in my sleve and I cheated. I felt so bad after the test but I didnt have the guts to confess.

In most cases the test is designed to help reinforce your learning and help the teacher gauage what kind of level you're at. Cheating doesn't really help either of those things.

Or maybe I just like the self-satisfaction of doing well without cheating, i've helped people when they've asked me in tests, I don't really care, i'd just rather my mark was honest.

Yeah but not on any real exams.

Doesn't bother me either way - the world is an unfair place and the jobs you think these grades are going to get you later in life will be given unfairly anyway, so cheating on a test isn't really a big deal to me.

The only times I can recall myself cheating was during one or two Computer Communication exams. The exams were close to impossible to pass unless you had prior knowledge of the stuff (I did not). You had to just learn a crapload of different designations (stuff like RJ11, RG45, CAT6, CAT5, network layers etc. etc.) for every exam. The exams also usually had a few scenarios where you'd have to prove what you ought to use where and be able to explain why. The "passing score" was also usually quite high.

So while we were sitting in class preparing for the exam, I'd scribble down some keywords on the table, very lightly, so that I could erase it with my finger if I had to/when I was done. The exams were done on computers so it was easy to hide them as well (under the keyboard for example).

Ironically, I actually learned them better that way.

In other classes it was practically impossible to cheat, since they would usually check your arms and hands before the exams, and if you were caught looking at another pupil's paper they'd kick you out, so it wasn't really worth the risk.
