Cheating at Tests.

Well i cheat a lot. In last grade there were two clases, at which it was extremely easy to cheat. One was math, and second was biology. In math almost nobody studied. The class was complete chaos, since the teacher was a nerd. It seemed, that he didnt have guts to do anything, and at tests...everybody consulted each other, and kept a book on knees. easy cheating.

Oh and the biology teacher just left class, when we where doing tests...on most tests i got 9/10...too bad both of them left our school.

I've cheated twice.

Once was a year 7 spelling test and I needed one more 20/20 to get an award so I wrote down 2 of the words on my pencil case. My pencil case was that full of ink and writing that noone could have noticed

2nd time was a year 9 math exam and I had one of those new calculators that you could save data in.

There were no rules against it, so I saved all the volume formulas for 3d shapes etc and got 100%

American cheating doesn't even go near the levels of cheating in Chinese college/university admission tests or finals etc... I watched a documentary on this, it was almost funny, but quite shocking.

Some wealthier students in China will hire a look-a-like to take their ID, study for the test for months and pass all their classes, etc.. While they're out having fun. And they 'graduate' 3 years later, land nice jobs, etc... With just barely having visited the school for an interview once.

Generally, cheating is bad for your learning... But if it's a test which is either fail or pass (with fail meaning you have to spend another 1-2 years studying for the next test), wouldn't you be stupid *not* to cheat?

Depending on your job, you wont use those exact tidbits of knowledge required in a test/exam, so 'cheating' to 'know' them on a test is barely immoral if you didn't have the time to study for them/forgot/etc.

LOL at the Chinese people

I have a history test tomorrow, and my new seat is in the front row right near the teacher :x So no cheating for me, that class is un-fairly hard, only like 10 people got above an A- in her class for first term, and I got a C-. One the last test we took, she gave us a study guide with what was on the test, I printed out a sheet explaining the things on the study guide, I got a 53 because almost none of the stuff on the test was on the study guide #-o I have a feeling it'll be like this for the test tomorrow anyway, I've yet to get higher then a D+ on a quiz/test in that class. (good thing it's only 8th grade  )

One time caught cheating = expulsion in my school.

I never really need to cheat anyway, but that's pretty scary.

Damn you school is strict.

Depending on the seriousness of the test it's mostly a note in the planner or being withdrawn from the exam(gcses).

We can breath in space, they just don't want us to escape

I have cheated like... the whole test today... I feel like a loser :-#

We had to write German letters to someone. We had practiced 5 letters, and we got 1 mash up letter from those 5 at the big test.

And, you could use your dictionary to look up words. =P~

It is just too much, learning 5,5 A4 sized papers. I know, its possible but this was a chance I had to grab.

So I had typed out every letter and put them in my dictionary.

This was the last Letter Test I had to make, so I have finished this part.

And I wont have it on my exams, so I guess Ill never cheat this way again.

:shame: , I know.

At university cheating is like the dumbest you can do, because you could loose a whole year of working with it, in the best case.

At high school, yeah now and then. Not really into writing everything on a piece of paper, but the occasional "put everything in your calculator" or "watch how your neighbour is doing during the test" happened to me a few times.

I'm guessing D's are 59.5-69.5? We don't have them in my school. F's start at 69.4. :wall:

At my school you get 8/8(16="asked to leave") for cheating, but thats not my motivation.

I get so disguisted if I hear someone is cheating, especially if its one of my friends. Cheating is so stupid, your cheating yourself and your taking work that isn't yours, thats just like that family guy episode where albert einstein has that publishing company and he slams the window on the guy's head to get his work. People who cheat are foolish, I'd rather go down trying and fail the test then possiblely get 8/8 and steal someone else's work.

If I see anyone cheating off me I frankly in the middle of a test would obnoxiously and clearly say " *beep* you, do your own work, stop cheating off me", its using someone and thats unacceptable.

Think about it, you'll cheat in medical school, f up your patient and then get sued lol.

If you consider sharing homework cheating, then I kinda have cheated before cuz I'll compare homework and stuff with my friends, but mind you its complete.

One of my teachers lets us cheat on some tests. :o

He cuts a piece of paper, 1/3 of the full page, then signs his name. Using that sheet, we can take notes and use it on the test. He believes that since you spend all that time taking the notes for the cheat sheet, you won't actually use it during the test, since it's already all in your head. I say it's a good method.

Concerning university cheating, lecturers know more than you realise. I happened to be chatting to my tutor when another lecturer came in and talked with him about a paper she'd just had handed in that she thought was suspicious. There are so many ways to tell if someone has been cheating. They can compare your current essay to a previous one to see if the language and writing style is similar, they can use plagiarism detection software (or just Google) to look for phrases that you've used that are similar to other papers or books, not to mention that they will probably recognise any paper that you steal from even if the software misses it.

For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns.

The time when the living and the dead exist as one.

You may be more successful now but the guy who retakes the class will eventually be more successful in life. Unless he just doesn't care, in which case, both of you are stupid. But yeah, who's smarter, the guy who cheated and passed but knows almost nothing or the guy who fails, retakes the class, learns the information and actually knows something. I'll take the honest guy that knows something over you any day.

That's what we do in my Physics class.

We get one notecard for the entire semester to write down any formulas or any notes we want.

The teacher believes that learning (Physics in paticular) is not memorizing facts and formulas but knowing how to apply them..

I like it :D

Makes my life much easier lol

You can go ahead and cheat all you want in high school but good luck doing it in college, haha. I'd love to see you try and get your way through that.

I cheat i don't care at all about high school maybe later in college i will reconsider but i can really care less about high school. I however don't cheat by getting the test prior to the exam, me and my friends we look at each others answers which lets us make better answers when we don't know something. We go by the philosophy team work on tests equals better grades. I wonder if anyone here has heard the saying two heads are better than one?

Ironically I never cheated in high school, I just failed away or just passed. However - come uni... I did cheat. I was paying for my "education" and they get go kill themself if they think i'm going to pay for, and take, a subject multiple times when I will never touch it again in my career path.

Sure I still failed a number of subjects, but I really don't care. I have my degree. My final GPA means nothing when you look at the area I majored in and my companies I have been interviews by agree with that :P

Heh, I guess it depends on the class really. A class that focuses around essays and stuff would be really hard to 'cheat' in.

And, hell, I probably would try and cheat -- except that I'm scared to death of getting caught, plus even if I did manage to my conciseness just couldn't handle it.

I've never cheated on tests and never will. However, homework is a different matter, because I know that not handing in homework gets you the worst of both worlds. The teacher doesn't know how you really are doing, and you get told off for being 'disorganised'. Trust me, I've been there. So, I'll get help from my friend, and vice versa. I bet everyone else in my school does that too.
