It took me less than an hour :(

I thought you guys would want to know what summoning level you need and what level is needed for first 138 but I guess not :(

actually we care and nice work with the math

im sure people will be happy to know this \'

Is it possible that you won't gain a combat level every certain amount of levels? Like, perhaps there are a few that are off, maybe 5 or 6 levels needed before a gain, evening it all out to 99 summoning needed for 138?

is this a possibility?

I don't think that would work. That pretty much assumes the player has maxed melees with 98/99 prayer. There are endless possibilities of melee stats, along with rangers and mages. So no, I don't think that's a possibility.

I've added f2p effects on main page.

That's some impressive math, but I don't think your conclusion will have a very big impact. Its only one more level I don't have to train at the end to get to 138.

This concerns me, as I don't think you're talking about 96 being the assumed.

Reread and you'll find its 95 (four levels less); the exp from 95 to 99 is 4263k. That's quite a big amount. If the skill is 25k exp/hour, that is 171 hours less needed for someone to get to 138.

Even though it doesn't help me personally, I always appreciate it when someone takes time to do something like this. Good work, and solid math.

I hope it isn't as expensive as they make it sound. I have a decent amount of cash, but I don't want to spend too much.

I'm also looking forward to this boost though. I'll get 100 combat in no time with this.

Here are my thoughts on the cost of summoning.

A cheap buyable skill would be considered firemaking, where maples/willows give you more than 1 exp per gp you spend. An expensive skill would be construction or prayer, where you spend 8-11+ gp for every exp you get.

Following this logic, summoning will most likely be 4-6 gp per exp. This comes out to 52-78m. I personally believe that Jagex will control the base price of summoning by offering a required item with unlimited stock at the Yanille Pet Shop. Summoning will be completely under their control in terms of price.

the problem is jagex didnt say its buyable, they said the cost isnt cheap or it isn't expensive, who said the cost is money? not time.. or even summoning points, you have to recharge your summoning at an obelisk just like you charge prayer an an altar

if it is 78m, i need to get to work :x

23 summoning for 127 cmb, and never dealing with wild dogs again :roll:

yes plz@

lets just hope they don't behave like wildy monsters

quote from kb

Wild dogs are aggressive and numerous, and will attack anyone that they see.

this might be according to the current 126 cap but i hope they dont retain their agressiveness after 126 cmb cus theyre a pain

Obviously the cost of summoning will be getting/tameing/growing/whatever the summoned animal. For exp i would say a combat type summon will get exp for summoning as it attacks a enemy along side you, a hint of this is from the last dev diary:

"One of the guys discovered a bug where you could obtain multiple familiars at the same time. He had an army of about thirty of them following him around, attacking everything his character attacked."

no clue how the non combat type ones will get summoning exp.

Which is why they said it's not cheap nor expensive.

You said about how F2P players would gain 1/8 of a combat level when summoning is released. However, I thought that when the skill exp. is 0, even though it is displayed as level 1 on your stats, it actually counts as level 0 for your total, and combat. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Very true. I worked out a few aclulations when they first announced the 138 cb limit, but since you added all the extra decimal numbers, you probably have much closer results.

Either way, Alot of people are going to be training combat with summoning for the technically free combat levels. I know I will be.

I can disprove this by using the starting level of 3.

If the only skill that counted was 10 hitpoints, you would start at 2.5 combat instead of 3.4ish.

A possibility for Jagex would be to somehow not make it count towards f2p combat, but I doubt it. Its hard enough to train prayer in f2p anyway <.<

Very interesting :P I'm also curious how it will affect you at lower levels as I'm 100 combat.

Wonder who will be the first 138 :-k

My guess is either;

Venom0619 or Fredmcgarry.

Did you ever think that they don't use math when figuring out combat levels? If I programmed it I wouldn't.

What else would you use?

@3 Hit U

Thanks. I spent more time last night and finally cracked the rs combat formula :D

As to who will be first, I doubt it will be Venom. They crashed after first day of hunter XD I'm betting some relatively unknown 126 skiller with 2k+ total will nolife it and get it within a couple months.

if(levelGained(Skills.SUMMONING) && ableToGain())

{

  levelUp();

}

levelGained checking if you gained a level in a specific skill and ableToGain being a method checking if you've gained enough of every levels to level.

But that's just me because I hate math.
