Help me quit

Featured Replies

I play Runescape, a lot, and I think I'm getting a bit addicted. I play 5-8 hours a day and I don't even know why. I've been doing this for about two years, and I almost always play RS instead of going out with friends.

Most (I'll guess like 70%) of people in my township are stoners and [bleep] who'll [bleep] you for a cigarette. I have a lot of 'normal' friends (not stoners, or not complete stoners) and I don't really hang out with them much anymore. I still talk to them at school, but we don't really hangout afterwards.

I'm a freshman, 14 years old (15 in sep) and I'm not ugly or anything. I've had many girlfriends before and it's not like I can't talk to women.

Anyways, I'm addicted to Runescape, and I want to quit. I was wondering if anyone knew any ways to kind of force me to. I'll be giving away my accounts to friends and I'll delete the recoveries and everything, but I have a huge feeling I'll just come back.

Please, try and convince/give me ideas to quit for good.

Delete the recoveries, and tell your friend that you dont want the acc anymore and to cahnge the Pw immidiatley, and under no circumstances to return it. Thats the way i would do it, good luck.

its a just agame, quit, if you really want to quit then it shouldnt be hard. and if its hard to quit then you'll come crawling right back. What you need to do is find a hobby that you enjoy more than RS, because thats all RS is is a hobby to kill time, whether it be alot of time or a small amount of time. Even if it means going to hang out with friends all the time, just do something you enjoy more and it will eventually overtake RS as you're main time spender.

if you TRULY want to quit...

drop ALL your items

delete your recoveries

change your password to something you WONT remember.

if you have a firewall installed, block of any RS related websites.

and the most important one is DONT start playing WoW

Thanks Wakka and amoeba, any suggestions?

EDIT: WOW blows, and I don't plan on playing any other online game once I quit RS, even if I do all that stuff, I'll probably restart playing one day while I'm bored, and then get addicted again :s.

Finding a hobby would be a good way to spend your time rather than have free time to spend on games. Running isent a bad hobby to get into, neither is it all that hard. A new sport? Gymnastics? Chess? A job? If that is legal where you live. Basicly get off your pc, and live life. Go for 2-3 hour walks at a local trail, its very relaxing, or bikeing, a bike is not all that expencive. Fishing is a fun hobby too.

:( :P Just give all your items to a friend or drop party. Do in next hour tho lol. Hate to see you go but...

Dont do drugs

Dont be a stoner

Stay on forums :D

Thanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig!

i also think wow blows. But from what i hear it is so much more addictive than RS so i try my hardest to have nothing to do with it.

You can search another interesting online game which your many friends are playing it.......

That would be pretty pointless. :-s Just going from Rs to another game?

If you really want to quit, then just walk away. Doing things like droping all your stuff or getting banned and such won't help. You will always come back untill your ready to actually quit. Best advice i can give is to try playing it in moderation first. If you quit and have all that extra time you might find yourself doing worse things. Limit yourself to x amount of hours a day if you enjoy playing it still.

My first advice would be to stop making excuses for yourself, especially on an online forum. No one cares if you're good looking or not (if I had a frikkin' dime for every time I heard "I'm not ugly or anything" here), nor does anyone care about how many girlfriends you've had in the past, nor does anyone care that you're making excuses about not having friends by labeling "70% of the people" in your town as "stoners and [????]'s". Just leave that information out of your posts from now on, please.

And my second would be that you aren't going to quit, ever. No one ever quits- they just stop playing.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

If you aren't too much of a computer genius, ask one to block the site for you

You're being watched.

Give me all of your stuff then go get banned? Sounds like a plan to me ::'

Prevent yourself from getting addicted, if all else fails, make a post on tip.it forums so we can point and laugh.

Seriously we can't help you, you must quit by yourself, unfortunally you cannot do that unless you aren't addicted. Just play less instead of just going to quit, it helped me after my 99 hunter frenzy  .

One more thing, what does you being good with girls add to this discussion? It isnt rellevant if you are ugly, a girl or a boy, a good kisser, a great basketball player or head of the united states.

He is right.

Beauty and stuff really has nothing to do with this, I don't think anyone cares what you look like, no one is that discriminatory when it comes to online gaming about 'looks'

set a timer on your pc, so that you can only play for 1 hour or something instead of 5-8?

everytime the word runescape comes to your mind, stab yourself in the arm with a knitting needle.

Just stop playing...dont log in, dont go to rs forums, dont look at updates.

Or simply learn to play in moderation and keep playing.

If you ever wanna quit staying away from tip.it would help alot.

Doomy edit: I like sheep

Why don't you ask your rl friends?

If you really want to quit, you can; but just think about what that means: no more RS in the morning, after school, weekends, holidays etc. Are you willing to give that up?

You can't just take something out of your live without putting something back in. As many have suggested before me, do something constructive in those 5-8 hours. Learn to play an instrument, piano, guitar, take up art, photography, skating, writing, heck even parkour. Anything like that will help you forget RuneScape, and you'll soon realise just how much time RS eats up, and how much time it's actually worth.

Wtf is parkour?

Wtf is parkour?

Founded by David Belle in France, parkour focuses on practicing efficient movements to develop one's body and mind to be able to overcome obstacles in an emergency. It may also be a form of entertainment or pastime.

Find out more yourself. Yes, it's relatively strange, but the idea is to try something constructive and new. Either that, or expand on something you already like/good at.
