RayOxide
Kc, the game is a literal gamble, and if people are too sooky because they cant win a tournament because of a hazard, (which are SO easily avoided) they should really just try the stage a few times themselves. And imo Norfair is the ONLY stage I think should be banned. I honestly glitched someone through the door when I tilted them.  I dont need a siggy no moar. RayOxide
Wireless Router? Like the ones you use to access internet via sattelite*? Arent they expensive?! :wall: and Caxis, for the winter tourny, will you let Norfair heat us up a little? :XD: Nah seriously is there a setup for the stages? I think Battlefield until the semi finals, then Yoshi's Island until finals, (then FD) suits the mood. (Not really) I dont need a siggy no moar. (Not really) A router is a device that splits your internet connection, so you can hook up multiple computers with one modem. Wireless routers cost around $50-$60, but these are US/Canadian prices.. Inuashakent
How about we just use the starter stages? Battlefield Final Destination Smashville Yoshi's Island Castle Siege --- Walk off + annoying stage parts + bad edges + moving stage. Despite this, I guess it's ok. Delfino Halberd --- Ehh... I guess why not. It's not the best choice though. Lylat Cruise Pokémon Stadium 1 --- Good stage, but the new one sucks. If you take off those 2, those are basically all the neutral stages, which is what I recommend as there is no CP system in place. @the pokeball and assist trophy post; I dont mind items but it is a huge change - these are usually hard to avoid whereas 90% of the stages hazards are avoidable easily. The game is a gamble, it was kinda made like that for a reason and people go out and call it too easy to win due to hazards. And imo, if your opponent knocks you into the Chimera on NPC, they have skill. Same with [bleep]e into brinstar liquid and then aerial ko. Hazards really kinda do need some type of skill to use as an advantage. I was comparing items to the stage hazards - they both should be omitted, at least with no actual CP system. The stage changes the game in the same way as items. Are you telling me applying a sword in game doesn't require a bit of skill? Of course it does. But you know what affects the application of the sword more? Luck. Same with Chimera. It could instantly put you from an offensive position to a defensive (very bad for say, DDK/Luigi) or even death. Plus, the super extremely high ceilings makes it impossible to play anyways. Gosh this thread makes me want wifi so much more. RayOxide
Is a new Gamecube controller really worth buying? I dont plan on buying any stupid 3rd party controller - a normal nintendo one wins. Not 2nd hand. Gotta wonder why they're sold in the first place  EDIT: The only bad parts about NPC is the height and hugeness. The chimera is so avoidable its stupid. It's kinda the best huge stage in the game. It's extra hard to camp with fox so it is much better than Temple. And you just dont get what I mean do you? If the game is a gamble why do people take the hazard stages off? I find it so dumb. For ones like the big blue and the old DK one, (and side scrollers) I find it ok to turn them off since they're really stupid places, but ones like say, Port town is actually fun. And kinda easily avoided hazards too. I dont need a siggy no moar.

And kinda easily avoided hazards too. In a tournament, the idea is to remove the luck factor as much as possible, and center on the skill of the players. Yes, it would take skill to knock your opponent into the Chimera, or avoid Pokemon and Assist trophies, but the appearance is based on luck. You get a Goldeen, he gets Latios/Latias. You're recovering, and an assist trophy spawns right next to him. The Chimera can also spawn while you're in a difficult situation too. Some characters can lose their escape option if a Chimera spawns right behind them. Kent: About Pokemon stadium, are you talking about the brawl version being bad? I thought that was Pokemon stadium 2... And I'd like to add a few more stages, any suggestions?
RayOxide
I said no items :P. With items the game is too luck based. With hazards, which are easily avoided, I find that it needs skill to 1. Avoid the hard ones 2. Protect yourself 3. Make your opponent get owned by a hazard. And for the Chimera 1. If there's 2 people fighting in a spot they will both be pwnz0r3d. 2. If it pops up on someone who is almost the whole screen away from someone, they're almost obviously camping. So gf camper. I dont need a siggy no moar. ikeforever
Since I'm not playing in the tourny, I don't get much say... But no NPC please...it's annoying when it zooms out and you can't see yourself at all...which fails
Who
I said no items :P. With items the game is too luck based. With hazards, which are easily avoided, I find that it needs skill to 1. Avoid the hard ones Point of tournaments is to see who plays smash better, not who avoids programmed stuff. 2. Protect yourself From the opponent is more like it. 3. Make your opponent get owned by a hazard. No one does that, they focus more on "owning" the opponent themselves, thus proving they have skill, and not relying on stage variables, which is why everyone loves Final Destination. And for the Chimera 1. If there's 2 people fighting in a spot they will both be pwnz0r3d. Not fair if someone has 2 lives and the other has 1, then its auto win for the one with 2 lives. 2. If it pops up on someone who is almost the whole screen away from someone, they're almost obviously camping. So gf camper. And if it pops up on the non camper? Is that fair for them? Your logic fails. The Complete MTA Handbook | Runecrafting Pouch Analysis | Mobilizing Armies Locator Index
RayOxide
Jesus you're not exactly smart yourself. Ever seen someone purposely hit another person into a hazard without an easy attack? No. Because noone plays on these stages cause they're all [kitties]. Noone has real skill if all they do is just spam fighting. And if you need "skill" to play the game, then having "skill" in protecting yourself and dodging random hazards (and throwing your opponent into them) shows you have more skill. @Chimera, it is fair. @2nd good point =/. 2NDEDIT: Also, the Chimera only pops up in 3 different spots, and on this huge map its easily avoided. EDIT4IKE: I kinda agree. It is a huge thing but the camera should zoom in if you arent camping like a total n33b3rt. I dont need a siggy no moar. ikeforever
I"m sorry to say this ray, but please stop trying to argue... Yes you have an opinion, but most aren't logical in the typical "brawler"'s opinion. Don't make yourself look more like a fool and stop while you can still keep your dignity. ANyways just get wifi and play some of us, I would like to play but working on English paper -.- . Oh yeah irony time! : My english paper is about brawl, technically an evaluation. If you don't mind, could I post it up here for you all to read when I'm done? YOu might likey. If none of this is making any sense, it's because I"m pullling an allnighter... RayOxide
...Not my fault people are too sooky and dont understand that the hazards are easy to avoid. No items? Fine. They honestly DO change the game too much. But taking out places because they have an easily avoided hazard is kinda bs. & about "most aren't logical in the typical "brawler"'s opinion." statement, thats cause they dont have a typical brain :P :twss: EDIT: I'm going to stop arguing until someone starts up again. It just annoys me how people cant take a gamble. Anyway after I'm finished here I'm going to go try 3 games of each I listed. Depending on what type of english evaluation it is. A story? ikeforever
EDIT: I'm going to stop arguing until someone starts up again. It just annoys me how people cant take a gamble. ok....the gambling thing with problem causing stages... Players don't like them because luck is the biggest factor there. No skill involved. A tournament is a measure of skill, not luck. IF you want a measure of luck, go to a gambling website and gamble away. The paper i wrote is basically expalining Brawl, it's history, and why some people play it. worked on it all night. and now i really need coffee.. sorry my grammar is really bad right now. I don't want to fix it, just too tired.
RayOxide
Ok I'll be civil, I do recognize why people dont like the hazardous stages, but I dont see why even some REAL tournaments dont have them. And it's not really luck based. If the person is dumb enough to walk into the hazard, then its their fault. If the person is smart enough to push them into the hazard, shows they have slight skill.. Anyway show us what you wrote. Next writing assignment for english I'm going to either copy this, or I'm going to ask for a story in the Varrock Library. I think this will be nice. GO on? :D I dont need a siggy no moar.
