Misunderstood Monsters: Wyverns and more!

Southern mage won't attack if you're on long range, but I can't get the North mage to stop attacking :(

 

 

 

If you have to use long rage and can only fight one, I don't think it's worth it anymore at all.

How exactly is that of any importance if this guide covers Bandosian Mages? Also, I think we'd best wait until the RuneTek 5 bugs get patched and then we'll see if the the Bandos Mages are really what this guide says they are. Right now Saradomin mages are messed up since all of the warriors attack the Werewolf now, so I'm sure Spiritual Mages are on JaGeX's list of things to fix soon. :

i did a task of 144 spirit mages in 30mins, you can easily kill 250-300 per hour

 

 

 

i was using a geyser titan and melee.

Also I just got a wyverns task and as I try to safespot them (As I have done for a couple of tasks, thanks for the guide : ) they cannot be lured in nearly as easily. I'll post a pic soon showing what you have to do, but basically you have to run east after you get to the spot where you're going to stand to lure them in, or else they will just walk right past the safespot.

Red is how you move to lure the wyvern, blue is the wyverns path when successfully lured, and green is the path to stand where it can be safespotted. The same basic principle aplies to the other side.

I'll leave the Bandos Mages guide up for now for a while to see if they bring that safespot back, but if not I'll have to take it down. I'm a little busy right now so I'll have to update the wyvern safespot guide with some new information when I can.

Also, my recent bunch of wyvern slayer tasks has revealed that the new luring method is only neccessary in HD, it is still the same in SD as it was before Runetek 5.

 

 

 

EDIT: I was wrong and the wyvern's are still harder to safe in SD, basically in their behavior they are just more unwilling to move north when confronted with the wall than before. This may have been the same as before but I am sure I don't remember failing to lure them as often as I have before the update.

I think you ought to take down the Bandos mage guide, it doesn't look like they're fixing anything caused by the Runetek 5 update.

 

Safespotting in general now takes a little more effort than usual. I remember reading a guide on TIF about monster movement behavior, I don't remember the name of it though. Prior, any monster larger than 1x1 squares would attempt to align it's south-westernmost square with you. (This is the square where drops appear after death) This is why safespots that used the south, east, or west side of an obstruction, say a pillar, worked, whereas it was impossible to safespot using the north end unless there was another obstruction.

 

Now though, monsters will simply align any part of itself with you and then proceed towards you. The pic Aspeeder posted pretty much sums up how to safespot any large monster; that is to lure it into maneuvering into the proper spot by yourself moving, to simulate how they used to try to align themselves to you. Interestingly though, this makes it possible to safespot a monster utilizing the north end of an obstacle now.

 

Although, now some monsters have different behaviors altogether. One example being Bandos mages retreating instead of coming toward until they've dragged you into their attack/roam range.

 

It's a mixed bag.

 

Also, quite a few of your hide tags refuse to open now. At least for me, I can't open anything except your wyvern guide.

Curses! The Runetek 5 update has really thrown most of my guide material out the window. I'll have to change stuff around... -.-

I can only view the first monster all the rest don't load, i like this guide tho i found it very useful for wyverns.

 

Small note for wyverns the bones are worth a lot more due to the herblore update so it may be worth banking more often.

Same here. Real shame, this guide was awesome. Sorry about runetek5 messing this up :/ it was soooo good

 

and damn it, I wanted to do the bandos mages, but 70 slayer stopped me, and now your method is completely gone :'(

 

oh well, hope you can find new monsters :P

 

but yeah, tabs 2-5 aren't opening for me :/

That's actually some interesting points you've got there. I've always thought that the Skeletal Wyverns were worthless.. I don't know if this will make me go kill them but it's good to be enlightened...

hi, just wanted to say that i found a method to killing warped terrorbirds WITHOUT food AND WITHOUT prayer potions.

 

yet this method is difficult to describe. if you happen to be online at the same time i am on, i could show you very quickly how.

No sorry, the bandos mage spot got removed pretty much a couple days after posting the guide. The RuneTek update made safespotting a bit harder.

I had trouble, too...then suddenly, I didn't anymore. I didn't understand why or what I did to fix it. Maybe clearing my cache or something? Something tells me that wouldn't work.

I have done a few Turoths trips and gotten clues at a ridiculous rate (as the guide says :D) and quickly done the clues. I was just wondering if anyone has done any sort of long term testing of this method's viability for making money. I know that clues are unpredictable but if anyone has any experiences using this method more than I have I would love to hear the results.
