I have out of the RS scene for quite some time, simply because I've lost interest and with real life getting in the way. I came back and noticed the new 'Pking' system Jagex installed instead of the classic PKing.

 

 

 

To me it seems completely ruined, you cannot get a fair fight, actually killing an opponent is much more difficult and there are no levels in the arena.

 

 

 

So I'm asking the community; do you think its an adequate replacement of PKing?

RuneScape is better than it ever has been.

Of course it isn't an adequate replacement, but I don't think it's possible to create an adequate replacement of Wilderness PKing while still preventing RWTing.

I agree that you can never make an adequate replacement for the kind of people of liked the classic Pking. But the problems that are solved by the new system far outweigh in my mind the problems it create.

RS has long been steering away from pking. In fact since 2001's release of the wild. Think of it. All of RS was a pk zone and all u needed was to set ur char on pk to start out as a player killer. Than they limited it to the wilderness and made the rest a non pk zone. Than came duelling, pking in a confined space. Out went the pk zone in the wilderness, and whats left is pretty much duelling in a closet.

None of the new pking places are like the old wilderness, and I don't think that a place like the old pking wilderness will ever come again. But I still think that these new pking places are better than not having any pking places at all. And with the fact that these updates soloved so many of RS's problems, it was worth it.

BH is no different. It's not a fair fight, but that's a part of the whole mystique in the first place.

It doesn't bother me much, as I've only really pk'd like 3 people in my almost 7 years of playing this game.

I'm going to have to agree with him. We can actually play the game without every spot being crowded with bots/goldfarmers. Also the community is -somewhat- more refined, as it was thinned out of the stereotypical obnoxious pure/pker. In addition to that, scamming was completely eliminated,even though the trade limit is kind of annoying. I'm finding the game more enjoyable even with less freedom because I don't have to fight with bots to play and never have to worry about being cheated out of my stuff.

Not at all. (im still a little mad I am locked out of RSC :P )

runescape hates pvp for all the rwt and just complaints from noobs like. OMG i went in the wild with full guthans in my inventory that i cant wear and got pked by sum nub. The only reason rs actually is making these minigames is to please the pkers or to amuse the other combat freaks!

I guess not, but really I could care less. At least they got rid of autoers and gold sellers.

Oh and I really don't mind, however the nostalgia of being paranoid of other players in the old wilderness is something that bugs me a lot. :cry:

I didn't mind the RWT and the bots. The old RS was much better :thumbup:

Stereotypical or obnoxious pkers, as you describe, were part of the beauty of rs. You could be who you wanted to, build your ego by becoming known and play your part accordingly. I don't play rs2, but from what I understand now it's basically gather a huge team, enter BH and attack anyone with numerous confusing spells for some ranger gear and possibly a little dagger which the other guy will probably protect. Now it's a bunch of good old cheery happy players who can share their loot from kills. Oh, how fun, now let's all hold hands and sing songs how botters do not exist and exchange flowers! :shame:

 

 

 

If you were ever scammed on rs, it was down to one's own stupidity. Now rs is suited to welcoming new players and it seems every single time they do an update, they [cabbage] upon the players that built up their game to what it is today.
