Yikes, my fps was bad enough before these new soldier weapons. One of those fully charged shots comes anywhere near and me my fps drops to 1.

I hate to sound like the typical SPUF whiner, but I wish they would stop adding all these new weapons. There's almost too many now, and it mucks around with game balance.

 

And yes, the new soldier weapon chugs my freaking i7 overclocked to 3.5 GHz.

IMO they should think about adding a 10th Class or a new game mode. something to spruce it up instead of recycling.

The chugging stopped for some reason. I can play the game perfectly now. Weird.

Before update: 40-50 FPS in spawn/light combat, 25-30 in heavy combat.

After absolutely [cabbage] and OP update: 10-20 FPS in spawn/light combat, 1-5 FPS in heavy combat.

Apparently the laser blast from the Soldier's new weapon has the same number of polygons as the Pyro model.

So, i became premium by buying a YER and a key (strange sandman), YER is quite fun to use, but getting that first kill can be a major pain.

Likely so. A lot of people are having performance issues right now.

Game is running fine for me.

6-7K polygons on one weapon is really gonna dip FPS. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of particles.

Question is: have valve given these weapons LOD?

It's official, I can never play the spy class ever again. Its impossible.

 

Milk, Jarate, Crossfire, Bleed from Scout/Engi/Sniper, Death Mark from Scout, Piss gun, and now the bovine cannon's 2nd fires immense blast area. I cant navagate all that [cabbage] and land one stab anymore. it took me 5 minutes on a server with [bleep]ing noobs just to get a kill and to top it off I have no skill with the DR.

At highest quality, the Righteous Bison has 7,013 polygons, and at lowest quality LOD, it has 1,446 so it has a LOD efficiency of 79.38%. Cow Mangler has 6,528 at highest and 1,858 at lowest, giving it an efficiency of 71.53%. Not really good considering 1.8K polygons is still there at lowest quality, but still, it's better than the Lumbricus Lid which has 4,885 polygons (more than the Pyro) and a LOD efficiency of 0%.

 

And yeah, Tim, I feel your pain. Constant barrages of Lasers, Fire, Milk, Jarate, and God knows what else have really put me off Spying recently... It's quite sad, really, how Soldier just gets these constant buffs whereas classes like Engi and Pyro (and even Medic) are just left with their stock items and a couple of new weapons they got once.

Thought I'd give it another try. I couldn't even last 2 minutes.

General scenario now, whenever I've play Spy. It's so bad I've taken up Battle Medicating w/ Ubersaw
