I never agreed to anything. I never got into competitive gaming for more than a few scattered game with friends because alot of the time it sucks all the fun out of the game.

 

I tried it once a couple of years ago, with CSS, and because it was being taken so seriously, for a while I was the guy that punches the keyboard when he gets killed. Not doing that again. (while typing this, I had some trouble with the space key that does't always work after a rage falcon punch). Some might comp gaming, but it's not for me.

And I was serious before, I really am curious to know what your favorite maps are.

I'm confused - in order to get the new items, which ones have to be crafted? And what achievements do you have to have to get them?

 

I've probably played 15+ hours since the new items came out, only got gunboats and equalizer to show for it.

None have to be crafted. You just have to get a certain amount of Demo and Solly achievements to unlock them.

I mostly use the spy class, as I'm a sneaky kind of guy, but I cannot for the life of me figure out when I'm cloaked and uncloaked. I know how to activate the disguises, I just don't know how the enemy can tell that I'm not their teammate. I go through all the trouble of going behind enemy lines, I even painstakingly position myself behind the enemy, instead of rushing in front of them to avoid any suspicion, but for some reason some enemy ALWAYS, SOMEHOW figures out I'm not one of them, and I get shot in the back.

 

Can someone tell me how this happens?? Or perhaps explain the spy class altogether?

They call it...the Spy Check. Basically, everybody knows that anyone around them could be a potential spy. So they do their damndest to shoot everyone and make sure that they are, in fact, a real teammate. The only thing you can do, really, is pretend like nothing is happening and hope that they'll shoot you once and think that's enough. Or fire back at them and land some good revolver shots and hope for a slight victory before everyone else realizes you're a spy. Spy itself is a class of equal parts skill and luck, but depending on your tactics you can push it a little more to the skill side. There's some good videos on how to play a decent spy.

Make sure you're actually using your cloak and not just a disguise either. (right click)

I tried something different today. Played some offensive engy; set up a level 1 up front or an ambush spot, then lure people over there/go and fight with the shotgun. It's fast, and the sentry is pretty much disposable and can be moved around a lot wherever I need it. It was a lot of fun, and I wasn't just sitting in some corner with my thumb up my [wagon].

I tried something different today. Played some offensive engy; set up a level 1 up front or an ambush spot, then lure people over there/go and fight with the shotgun. It's fast, and the sentry is pretty much disposable and can be moved around a lot wherever I need it. It was a lot of fun, and I wasn't just sitting in some corner with my thumb up my [wagon].

 

Good Offensive engies kick [wagon], on badwater my friend can get a level 3 on the third cap by the time we're at the second, so we pretty much have an easy march to third by the time they've dealt with him. He's been working on a guide but didn't have a good enough computer to film it until recently so i dunno when he's gonna make it.

I also go offensive engie, as the servers I play on there a 35 percent crit rate and stuff is built faster/requires less metal. I can usually get a lv 2 up in 10s and then go on my way killin people that aren't looking.

 

 

Also spy. All I use is deadringer. I'm so used to it, if I get hit, I got the timing to turn it off and loot metal that if I was seen, the ringer would be up already. Its a freakin' godly tool.

Unlocking the milestone achievements for that class. There are 3 milestone achievements for each class, based on your progress in unlocking the achievements. In the demo/soldier updates, for example, 5 achievements will get you Milestone 1, and 11 Milestone 2. Unlocking a milestone earns you an item in that class.

 

Or you could just play for awhile, and you'll unlock items randomly every once in a while.

Just play pyro and W + M1 for a while till you get used to the controls and everything. Also, if you do play pyro, learn how to use the compression blast. Put out teamates, blow back ubers, repel rockets, ect.

Better off playing heavy or medic until you get used to it. W+M1 only gets you killed.

Not in pubs.

I've found that playing soldier is relatively easy to get the hang of. I usually like to blast near someone, then hit the ground under them when they fall back down. Makes it tough for them to aim accurately.
