Will new detail be on same worlds as reg detail.

Featured Replies

Title speaks for itself really. ive read through most of the posts theyve left for us to read and i dont think theyve made it clear. So in so many words:

Will i be able to be on the new detail, world 99, and see people who are on reg detail, world 99?

this could be a problem :\

I would assume it would be just like high detail vs low detail now. You can still see people on low detail they just can't see all the graphics.

I'd hope so. It would be very annoying, and frankly, quite stupid if they didn't.

If they were to create separate servers for the new graphics they would have to make at least 40 new servers just to hold the amount of people trying to log on. So I doubt so.

i do realize that it would be what we all want but if you think about it, with full screen trying to connect it to the "old school" version of java it seems hard. make sense?

Yes, you will.

They are not using a new version of Java. Even a new version of Java would affect connecting to the server.

As it was said, it's similar to the high and low details.

Thanks Draynor.net!

That would be one way to fix arguments about "does high detail give an advantage", if the high detail (and particularly, full screen) was on different worlds.

Wile a few extra worlds might be needed, some "standard" worlds could be phased out.

It also seems that high detail will be an F2P feature, but presumably full screen (no ads) will be P2P only, unless they do full screen with embedded ads.

Depends really.

If the graphics change the timers on certain things like walking, attacking, or lag distribution, or even emotes, then yes it would have to be as it wouldn't be compatible, or if it were, it could potentially cause a server crash even on the best server.

I really don't think Jagex is going to, as they've stated that you'll select from detail mode like usual. Which would imply you aren't redirected to another world selection page...but it may.

Though I wouldn't be surprised, as well this also raises the question will there be a new selection process? Instead of "Play Game" > "Detail Mode" > "World Select", they could put in a 'login' feature or something if it's for members only (did they state this?).

I've always interpreted 'Detail Mode' as is the same with Low and High detail, surely they would have mentioned that it would be put on dedicated worlds? They wouldn't have kept that bit of information back is they were going to, and I think that they think that the term 'Detail Mode' was self-evident.

Actually, I know they wouldn't do that. If they did that then they'd have to make new worlds for all of the activities like Bounty Hunter and Fist of Guthix, LootShare worlds, not to mention the non-compulsory themed worlds. And those activities break down if players on different details couldn't interact with each other.

A friend of mine and myself were looking at the fullscreen screenshot they had taken where the characters are in Ardougne and we noticed that the building layout was not the same, so it's very possible that they could have their own designated worlds...or perhaps they will just adjust things like that in the low and high detail modes as well - like a slight makeover for those who can't use the new detail mode.

May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!

If thats the case all those worlds will be overcrowded. Way to bottleneck their powerhouse and screw up a good update.

Remember all the client does is display server information, thats why everything will be compatible. From what someone said about buildings looking different, they said this graphic overhaul will also effect the lower versions, as they are updating things like NPC chat and such, so we might see changes in areas.

99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th

As long as map layout (geometry) and timing stuff stays the same in the high detail version, I don't foresee any compatibility issues.

And even if some geometry is being changed for the sake of prettyness, the old version could be updated as well, in order to make the different versions match.

Can't say I'm looking forward to a server split again. We all know how the RSC / RS2 split ended up, and it'd be a shame if people with older PC's would be stuck in worlds full of ghosttowns.

I'm sure it will be. They stated that it will be a new detail option.

No, it doesn't make sense.

Unless full detail is a drastically different runescape, which it isn't, there isn't going to be any compatibility issue. It's a new level of detail, not a new game.

I don't see why we'd need separate worlds for this "high detail" thing. In reality, all that's being transferred is the new graphics layer, and even then, it's being used clientside, not serverside.

No need to fret or cast any FUD on this issue. Those that *do* lag are the ones that have bare minimum specs.

well if you look at the new pic they have added new dance emotes and that's where I became interested in what they planned to do. But if theyre updating both versions then I guess it won't be a big problem

They've said themselves that the new detail is going to work just as high and low detail does, and thus every world currently availiable will have New high detail, old high detail, and low detail.

What do you mean, "new dance emotes"? I don't see anything new in that screenshot.

Wait and find out

I just assumed that on the new detail mode we see everyone on the new detail mode on the same detail, while people on other details on the same world see us at they're detail level.

Oddly enough I had the same thought as you the other day.

Really, I hope that they will be. I don't feel like being segregated from all my friends if I decide to use this new detail and they don't.

There are obvious limitations with Java, but Jagex just push back those boundaries with every update.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they managed to allow all 3 detail levels to co-exist just as the current 2 do.

I'll get it one day, really.

Probely yes, can't see it being that difficult to implement because they already have two detail modes. All they have to do is implement the third one.

I'd be highly amzed if they had seperate servers for the new detail mode.
