Dizzle229
Whilst browsing the 4chan that is Bored.com, I discovered this little gem. http://www.iusedtobelieve.com/ Anyway, I thought this would be funny to do on TIF. Post any of your crazy childhood beliefs here! As for me, when a doctor told my dad he had high blood pressure, I thought that meant he was a Jedi #-o Get back here so I can rub your butt. IGoddessI
Just the tooth fairy really but I debunked that theory with a packet of tic tacs. I was about 6 years old, screamed out "ouch 2 teeth came out!" and then put 2 tic tacs wrapped in to a tissue and put it under my pillow. When I learned tooth fairy left no money for me, I knew she was fake  The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. Giordano
I thought if I somehow went close to those red lights (used to avoid planes from crashing into a building) I would be sucked into another dimension with scary monsters. :ohnoes: "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." rushrock
Well, life was a lot simpler back then. No worries about your personal image, no mental angst, everything was spelled out for you. I mean, I never really did the Santa thing or anything like that, but in general, the type of life was much different. Everyone's minds were like soft clay, waiting to be molded by maturity, so everything was easier to move around and process in this soft, versatile, carefree mind. If that makes sense. warri0r45
It's not so much a belief as it was me being young and naieve. It's pretty funny considering I'm now majoring in biochemistry... I used to wonder what cells are made of, i.e. I used to wonder if they were something other than atoms and molecules and what they could possibly be. But, of course the ordinary laws of chemistry and physics apply to cell biology as well.
Dizzle229
I thought religion made sense, lol. Oh my God, you guys are really going to bring religion related arguments into a fun thread. TIF has an amazing ability to do that. OT: Whenever my family had hotdogs for dinner, I use to look into my backyard to make sure my dog was till there :XD: Get back here so I can rub your butt. Zierro
I miss being young - the world seemed so much bigger and more mysterious. I guess ignorance is bliss though. One belief I had was that root beer was an actual alcoholic drink.
Lenin64
Goddess, for a 6 year old you were pretty devious. I knew you were raised by Lenin! Yup, I went back in time. Bweaoweaoweaoweaow. (mystical time warp noise). I used to think the people in pictures would watch me, espeically since eyes appear to move as you walk. Command the Murderous Chalices! rushrock
Somtimes I used to pour a glass of fruit juice with ice and pretend that it was liquor.
Tom_Servo
I thought drinking and driving was drinking anything, not just liquor, while driving. So I always thought my dad was breaking the law when he was drinking a Coke while driving.
jackattack
I used to think that if you ate watermelon seeds one would grow in your stomach and it would explode. baalboy5
Aliens lived in my basement and that at my grandparents house their playground's forest had dinosuars out there ( it was people building stuff when I found out like 3 years later) Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob. People in OT eat glass when they are bored.
IGoddessI
Umm I also believed if I mixed my "magic" mickey mouse powder with my mums friends bird's seed I could give him magic powers. Instead I killed him  :? :ohnoes: The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. Everyone's minds were like soft clay, waiting to be molded by maturity, so everything was easier to move around and process in this soft, versatile, carefree mind. If that makes sense. Kind of agree. Ignorance is bliss, I had no idea about all the problems in the world, no idea that violence could happen so much, no idea about anything to be honest. According to my mom, I used to be an extremely happy kid (Okay, guess all moms say that...But still...), can't say that anymore. And +1 to that watermelon thing, though not just watermelons. I thought that if I swallowed any seeds, fruit would grow inside me. I also thought women randomly got pregnant. :? Never believed in the tooth fairy, Santa or the Easter Bunny... I'm not sure, but I think I used to believe that most people in America were Asian. Heh. Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. IGoddessI
Ohh I remember another thing! I used to believe that the world was all connected, that if your aunt lived in America, we could just go drive there :D So I was always mad when my parents said it cost to much to visit, I'd be like "OMG dad can't we just get in the car and drive it won't take very long you know!" haha so naive. My dad also told me once that vampires were real when I asked him but I didn't know he was joking. He wonders why I wanted garlic bread for dinner every night... I also believed my granddad was a cowboy. He had a huge scar on his belly from surgery but he told me indians shot him (Chief running bull) with an arrow. We used to eat baked beans, sit at the bar and drink shots (coke in a little glass). He made me believe he owned a horse and everything. Omg liar!! warren211
I thought drinking and driving was drinking anything, not just liquor, while driving. So I always thought my dad was breaking the law when he was drinking a Coke while driving. i always thought that too, they really dont make that clear enough I second that. One time my dad was drinking a diet coke as he was driving and there was a police car following us and I started screaming "DAD YOU BROKE THE LAW! PUT IT AWAY QUICK!!!" I also had the usual childhood beliefs. Easter bunny, Santa, tooth fairy. In retrospect I realize how gullible I was. and as Zierro said I believed the watermelon thing after watching Rugrats. and as penguingeek3 said I thought pregnant women randomly were impregnated. Damn, I'm surprised how many beliefs everyone shares. and in blue's clues I believed Steve died after he left the show and Joe took his place... [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.
