"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Featured Replies

Just saying, she sounds a little messed up. She slept in a bed with a dude, and says she had sex with him? I dunno, I guess you could at least figure out what the hell's up with her. I'd just kinda leave her, though. Sounds like she really is interested in fluttering about. I know a lotta the girls in theater. They flutter like butterflies.

I like the word flutter.

Theater people in general are known to flutter. They're crazy folk.

  • Obviously you ask her to come with you. Drive with her to the steepest mountain. Put her in the backpack and spend a week climbing the mountain. You will drink the rain and you will eat like a bear. B

  • Okay so I'm pretty confident at least 2 of you remember me and maybe .5 of you remember how my last post went. To recap, I went on the first date of my life and then a second one that went poorly.   T

Shocker. Im posting. Last Saterday (On Val's) My girlfried was going to come over but couldn't as driving in the rain condition we had was dangerous so we both agreed for tomorrow night. I then got a text Sunday night "Im not coming over. We got some bad news today and i have to go out early in the morning." I tried ringing her but she wouldn't answer it, then on thursday i got a text from her saying "Im fine Im just having some stress free along time." I've tried ringing her for the past week and only gotten to her answering machine. She's still talking to my friend via Text (About Crosswords wth?). Since she lives 30mins away travels a bit of a pain so when i went to drop her Card off i forgot she had work that day, She never even text me thanking me for the card. Should I be worried or keep ringing till i finally get ahold of her and ask her whats wrong? Just that some "special things" happened during our relationship and i'd hate to see it end just like "That". and espec on/close to Valentines day. :|

Popoto.~<3

I would highly suggest against ringing her constantly until she answers.

Give it a couple days, then text her to find out how she is.

So I've been dating a girl (Danielle) from my school for three months. She used to talk about this one guy in her English class (who I knew) who was oh so hilarious and stuff, but when we three had a class together, he was realllyy flirty. I got over that, he doesn't do it much (at least around me). Danielle told me to say when she's acting flirty because she 'honestly doesn't notice it'. Okay, so I'll do that.

Anyways. Now there's a guy who I've known for three years (he went to Danielle's Elementary school for several years, but not the middle school, where I met him) who are partners in Drama. Before, a couple weeks before that, we were just talking about who we thought was attractive, and she says this dude's name. I thought it was wierd because she always talks about how gay he acts but she was saying that he was cute. She begins telling him about how great he is in Drama compared to other people in another class, so I just mention to it her later and she's like "oh nooo, i wasn't flirting, I was just saying how great he is!". So whatever.

Then a day or so later I learn that they have to work together at his house, and he's making her go to his church (she's an atheist) if she wishes to be his partner (which she does, because apparently everyone else sucks). It really made me feel uncomfortable, so we talked about it and she thinks she'll be able to get out of going to Church. She also started saying how they have to do a skit where she "strips, straddles him and they make out". Of course, she was joking, and I was saying how upset I'd be if she actually did that, and she said how she just wouldn't tell me, "jokingly". This somehow led to a fight about how I flipped my lid for no reason. She knows how jealous and uncomfortable I get when she starts talking about other guys.

Now, this guy is really religious, doesn't believe in premarital sex, etc, but just the fact that they're talking so much (he's teaching her guitar right now over the phone ..), and that she's going to his house whenever just makes me nervous. Especially how she was apparently lying to my former best friend (when those two were dating) about how her and another dude (Craig) were spending the night, and she said that Craig was gay so that they could sleep together. But somehow, she said he raped her or something, which she's really sensative about and doesn't like talking about it.

So really, her saying how gay he is just makes me comfortable because I remember how much it hurt my best friend, and .. I don't know.

I don't know really, I just wanted to rant. It pisses me off and saddens me because she knows how much it affects me, yet she claims it's nothing. *sigh*

What I see here is a mountain made from a mole hill. I really think you should sort your own issues out instead of trying to control what you have no control over. There's a difference between someone who flirts with everything that moves and having a joke. Lighten up, jeez. If you hold on to something too tightly in life, you'll lose it for good.

She said she wants some alone time. If you pester her, she'll think you're very annoying and dump you. When you do something out of kindness, don't expect a thanks. You'll then be delighted if you get one and won't care if you don't. Give her a text saying you respect her wishes of alone time and ask her to text you when she's ready to talk.

So I was talking in school with an ex (we ended our relationship like 3 years ago , but we are still friends) , turns out she has a very hot and funny friend .

When I came to ask something to my friend , the hottie said : oowh *name of my friend* , who's that hottie*

I was like

I kept going to my friend talking about redicilous stupid things , just to mess with the hottie.

We have loads of fun I got her MSN/phone number we sms/chat alot and now I asked her to go to the cinema , and she instantly accepted , what do you think :P ?

But now , for the advice part:

What do i do in the cinema? I've never done a cinema-date so..

ofcourse I pay everything but , just try watching a fun movie , and kiss her afterwards , or during the movie?

And what kind of movie should I watch ?

She is nasty sometimes and laughs with everything

Anything she picks. Movie dates for first dates as a general rule aren't the best, but sometimes it's all you got.

It depends, on whether or not you should start just sucking each others' faces off during the movie. She might like it, but most girls won't for a first date. I see a goodbye kiss (peck, don't start shoving your hands up her shirt and your tongue down her throat) as normal, though.

1. Yes pay, it'll make a good impression but don't do it all the time or she'll make you her convenience rather than her boyfriend. Trust me, the girls and I in high school took advantage of situations like that. "Oh I want to see a movie but I have no money... I know... (insert name here) will pay for me if I ask him to come".

2. Play it safe. Don't shove your tongue down her throat or do anything sexual in the movies. I for one can't stand affection in the cinema other than a cuddle. I came to watch a movie for crying out loud. I once had a date who I thought was so hot and he kept trying to kiss me through-out the movie - as hot as he was, he got introduced to dumpsville. I would make the first move, like put the arm piece up and give her a cuddle or maybe a kiss on the cheek/forehead at most.

3. Let her pick the movie but don't make a habit of letting her, or you'll forever miss out on the movies you actually enjoy watching. It's a give and take, she chooses then you choose the next one. If you're willing to watch a movie that you might not even enjoy just to enjoy your company together it should be expected that she'd do the same for you.

Woohoo, after 50+ pages of lurking I finally have something decent to contribute :3

Anyways, first I'd like to let you know one thing: watch out. I went through something very similar this past summer. Basically there was this girl I liked that was very flirtatious and I would often become jealous when she would flirt with other guys. I let her know this but it didn't seem to make her flirt any less. It seems you're going through the same thing. You're jealous, there's not much you can do about it but try and control it the best you can. She's flirtatious, there's not much you can do about it and you need to accept that it's just who she is. Chances are she doesn't realize it when she's doing it, or worse, she does. If you're lucky it's just part of her personality and that's it. If not, she may be like the girl I took interest in. The girl I liked never really had very many boys that liked her before me, so I was kind of a new experience for her. Once she realized how jealous of a person I was she decided to take advantage of me. She would often flirt with other guys whenever I was around, just to mess with me. Apparently she liked watching how I reacted when my emotions were getting the best of me, which is why she did it. Eventually we got into a lot of arguments and stopped talking for a few months. It seems to me like that's what your girlfriend's doing - she's saying these things on purpose just to mess with you. I really hope I'm wrong on this.

Tl;dr - learn to control your jealousy, it can be a real [bleep]. Also your girlfriend might be playing mind games with you so be careful.

I've never understood this about taking a date to the movies...why bother with a movie unless you both want to see it? I mean, I can understand that further into a more serious relationship, but one just starting?

It lets the other person know that you're willing to do something that you might not want to do as long as you're with them.

It's a suggestion, I'm not saying it's something you must do. Riku has a very good point and in my own experience Brent and I have completely opposing movie choices. We don't agree on any movie.

Well for your sake I hope you aren't very critical on movie genres. As a pointer I suggest you not act so stubborn on a date. Also I'd like to add that just because you can't agree doesn't mean you can't date. My girlfriend and I in the 2 years we've known each other have never EVER agreed on anything. But that's half the fun.

What makes you say that? I find movie dates to be ideal for first dates (as well as a good start for those who are just starting in the dating game)

As some people of the fsm chat thought I gave relationship tips, I decided to give-in and give some:

Most girls I know often tells me that their man "ideal" would be a bad-boy so they can make him change his habits to make him a better human being. While this is true in some situations, this is not an absolute vodka rule. You can also try being funny and if you think "knock-knock" jokes are funny, well...good luck. While being funny also helps, being yourself is the best advice anyone and I can give.

If you try being too perfect or being someone else, it might work for a while...but after you get the girl (or guy) and are dating for a while, you will start being yourself again and then s/he will see that you were lying to her all that time. If being yourself does not work with that particular person, well tell to yourself that she might not be the one for you.

Oh btw, if those advices work someday, you have to thank me when you get married...and invite me to the wedding

Melody is too confusing. Impossible to talk to. I have no idea why I'm attracted to her. I'm just going to give up trying to start anything. It's frustrating.

Perhaps my growing friendship with another girl may spark some luck. I'll see if she wants to go see Watchmen....

Yes, this is the first time I've given out her name

So a girl that I was set up with a couple times at some school dances asked me out over the phone. This is my first official date, basically. I'll be going to a movie with her and some of her friends (my friend might go, but I'm not sure). She'll call back tomorrow about what movie, when, etc. Not sure how it'll work out... I'm not really interested in her so much, but this will probably last like 2 weeks anyway. :P It'll definately be an experience. More details soon. ;)

I'm not that critical on movies, just the bad ones. ;) Honestly though I don't plan on dating anytime soon, but when I do I'll try and find someone with fairly similar interests and personality.

And no offense, but anyone who says movies are great first dates, I probably won't take their advice into much consideration.

Many people here have much experience, regardless of what their first date was. If you're going to write off their wisdom all together over something completely trivial then you're missing out

Definitely try and get your friend to go. Sometimes group dates can get uncomfortable if you're relatively strangers, and more people that you don't know are there (otherwise they're a blast and more like a moving party). Get him to distract the other girls if you want some more quiet time with this other girl.

I don't think movies are that great of first dates, either. But, a lot of times it's your only choice. Can't do something that'll completely blow her away.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
