January 11, 200917 yr Is it common to grow out of that stage though? Cause it'd make my life easier if it did, lol. I figure they probably will eventually. My gf is only 16 though so I assume she's not outgrowing it anytime soon. Oh well, I've talked to her about other guys and we've reached an understanding. She can talk to any guy she wants to but she can't hang out with them unless they know about me (and she's said she won't hang out with guys unless I'm there for the sheer fact that they don't give a [cabbage] about me (until I kick their [wagon]) and will try [cabbage]). Thats good being protective, but I guess its better to be protective when you are dating someone who is younger and slightly less mature ( no critisizm please, keep reading). I guess I'm kinda in the opposite position in this case, my girlfriend turning 18 in june and me turning 17 in march (meh, 18 month difference, kinda big now, but when we get older it wont really matter) My personal opinion is, if they love you, and you love them, you know nothing will get in the way of that. Thats what it is for me
January 12, 200917 yr This is kind of a silly question, but... If I were to ask a girl out to the movies, how far ahead should the movie be? Like, if I asked her out Friday, should we plan it for Saturday? Or is it one of those things where it really doesn't matter?

The only problem with asking the day before is it gives you less of a chance of her saying yes for that day because she might already have plans. Internet Marketing For Newbies
January 14, 200917 yr So a personal friend (known him since I could speak) of mine asks me to help him out in his girl troubles. I figured I help enough people here, I could help hiim to. Well, we tried this before...and for a multitutude of reasons, it didn't work out. Not really anyone's fault though. Anywho, he's been chasing after a new girl for awhile. he txts her all the time basically, and they talk in person every now and then, when they get the chance. She's a realy friendly girl though, so personally I just see this as her being her. He wants her to go to this up coming dance thing. He's a junior, she's a freshman. He's not exactly high on the popularitychain, but they get along well enough. He's pertrified of rejection. I've told him to practice on random girls, to just ball up and go for it..but he's practically unteachable unless it's a sure fire solution. He's already asked her to chill with him once (shot down, gradually) and he wants to try again. I'd like to see him get this girl, he has the worst of luck with them, he needs a break. They see each other about every day, even if it's only for a second. I think he just needs to grow some and make a move. Unfortunatly, by now he may be friend zoned (it's been about 2 weeks). Is there anything that anyone thinks I should add to this pile of advice for him? I really want to give this all I got for his sake. Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. Is there anything that anyone thinks I should add to this pile of advice for him? I really want to give this all I got for his sake. The principles that you (we) are teaching him are things that make sense logically yet still won't become internalized after years and years of experience/living through the principles. He's not going to be able to overcome his fear of rejection before the dance. The best solution is to have him man up and ask her out and have a good time. If he gets rejected, he'll learn that it isn't the end of the world and worse things could've happened. It doesn't matter if you have positive or negative experiences in these kinds of situations - either way they all add up and fortify your beliefs in the future till the right principles have become internalized. So, be sure that he asks her out and remind him that it's not the end of the world if she rejects him. Remind him, "What's the worst that could happen?" - he'll either say "she'll say no" or "she'll say no [plus many other unlikely events]" - in either case you just remind him how little the significance or odds of those things happening are.
January 14, 200917 yr I have been leaving obvious hints to the girl that I like lately. There was one time where we both were helping a teacher carry her stuff back into her office, when she reached I passed the stuff to the teacher and lift the sling (The girl was carrying a sling bag for the teacher) off her arm so that it was free to move out. Then there was when I was supposed to mark names of those who didn't bring a certain item. Well my crush didn't and I only walked past her without marking her name and her friend exclaimed "Wow, he didn't even mark your name down". Today, we were in chemistry doing some experiments (Different partners) and we were to line and and collect 0.3g of some power to do so and repeat until we succeed. I'm not your fastest student in class so I would have to wait in line where I would yell "Faster, we don't have much time etc." Only when my crush was before me, I just remained silent for a good 20+ seconds til she left and a friend of mine said "Wow, what a gentleman!" So my question is, am I doing the right thing such that I am advancing a step forward or does this only make me look desperate? 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00 Break the Walls down!

January 14, 200917 yr Yep. That's an easy way of letting you into the friend zone. Too bad. She woulda been a winner. But, plenty of pearls in every oyster and so forth... catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
January 14, 200917 yr Well, at least she put it nicely :P the last 2 girls I asked out just said "no"
January 14, 200917 yr I find it better when they say "NO". Straight out answer. I know guys that obsess over girls that don't give flat answers because they don't realize. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
January 15, 200917 yr Haha depends who they are. If they're a good friend I end up feeling sorry for them and putting it as nicely as possible and if they're a jerk or I don't like them, I generally let the air out of their egos. Ssssssss.....sorry :P The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

While it probably speaks for the majority of cases, it's not always true. The first time I asked my present girlfriend out, she said she didn't know and she didn't want a boyfriend. To me it definitely sounded like she only wanted to be friends. Then a few days later some stuff happened and she realized she did like me.

I asked her at the same time she asked me. It seemed perfect, but a month and a half later we ended up breaking up and I got friend zoned. i fought tooth and nail(with the help of this awesome thread :D ) and got her back as my girlfriend 4 months later. I tried asking her out a multitude of times over the course of thoes 5 months, but her answer was always along the lines of "I don't want a boyfriend." Well, if you know my story (as I'm sure atleast a few of you do) me and my girl have been going out officially for a year now, nearing 13 months. I say this for two points. One to say to rangeor that I agree, there could have been a worse answer. And that there is still hope to get this girl with enough effort (if you truly think it's worth it). And two to expand on Zierro's thought about rejection and it's later effects. I have been leaving obvious hints to the girl that I like lately. Sure you throw off the hint that you think she's special...but you're gonna have to step it up a notch. Being polite to a girl isn't going to get you in her pants (or whatever you want to do with her). She's responding with silence because you're treating her like a human being. It's a step up from you're normal interactions (from what I can assume from your statement) but it's not enough. You really gotta go that extra mile to get her attention. Either that or she's just messing with you, and she's fully aware you like her. Being cheesy often includes being obvious. Girls are like that.
