zdavenz
I've been playing since the time of sleeping bags and since people were talkinb about the new 'RS2'. But back then it was like this game that you imagine a early 20's average joe playing. Now its kinda like you imagine 8 year olds playing this game and their soccer moms watching. Is it just me or does RS feel like its getting 'Younger' to any of you others? VjuliusT
Well that was reason number 2 why I quit, so yes your not the only one that think it's "younger". Nothing we can do about it though.
spyderownzyou
I remember before the sleeping bag era of RSC :o  but with the newer graphics and dumbed down gameplay, it does feel like it's getting kiddier But still there are many older people still playing, I know many that are moms with teenage kids and a fair few older people like 45+ just gotta look for them there will always be younger kids playing because it 'cool' thing to do at there school though, mostly f2pers mind you. You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face.  Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...
lcchs
they probably make rs easier as you ahve more skills to train and more mini games to play

Pinkbullet3
It's been like this for quite a while, but the fact that RuneScape has an implemented 'Public Chat - Friends' still keeps me going.    ^ Blog.
lcchs
and mindless clicking is why i like this game, click and wait and then do something else unrelated to runescape.   rs might have gotten a bit kiddier but its mainly because we are getting older
highlanders
Been said million of times. You know what, maybe it's not getting younger. In RSC there were also quite an amount of kids. Maybe the problem is that people are getting more and more unpleasant. In RSC it was a bit more difficult to be a pixel hugger since the pixels weren't all that pretty to begin with. But nowadays it's all about the money, the bragging, the levels, though it's a wonder how things become like this. Maybe the new generation of kids are just jerks, who knows.   I remember when sleeping bags came out. When I first used one, I thought there was like a hacker haxing my account and I hurried up to close my RS window  2480+ total

sephiroth_king
Aren't we all just getting older?   Exactly. Just think of thew future, when the kids are our age: "z0mgz tis g@m3 4 k1ddiez lulz"...   The older you get, the more you tend to grow out of something. Unless you live in Never Land. or Never Never Land. Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)
zdavenz
Aren't we all just getting older? True but i also agree with the dude/dudette that said it's the people that are getting unpleasant. Did you even play RSC?     How do you expect the game not to be kiddy? It's a java browser game aimed at a large audience.

Stellarflare
There are many factors to this -    Internet use has become much more widespread and available to younger people. As you get older, a larger proportion of the playerbase will be younger than you As you become more mature, more behaviour will seem immature to you. The recent release of the lending feature has resulted in a huge upswing in begging.   On the other hand, I don't think its fair to say that RS itself has deliberately sought to appeal to a younger audience. Its certainly expanded, but its appeal is aiming to be universal. I'm delighted that the new skills are more substantial than mining, fishing and woodcutting. The more variety, the better, in my opinion, and I'm comfortably on the far side of the age range.
kazumaishimaru
Well, hopefully you'll get what you want out of MechScape. Jagex said it's going to be oriented at a more mature audience...if it'll live up to that is another question entirely. I am nice. . .
Dire_Wolf
I went to BH today for the first time. Â Â Â When i was there and attacked my Targets...the targets reacted with this:Â Â Â "??"Â Â Â "Nerd"Â Â Â "Loser"Â Â Â "Stop!"Â Â Â "Omg"Â Â Â "I am gonna log out..."Â Â Â Â Â Now, i was at Bounty Hunter and were there to kill players for rewards. They all reacted like if they didn't know where they were. So yes, it's so many young audience who's [developmentally delayed]ed.
Agunimon979
I would say this is a little kid game now because of its similarities to other dungeon/middle age/dragon type games. The new runescape logo looks just like any other lame dungeon/middle age/dragon type game. Especially the new tutorial island, it deals with dragons and knights and middle age dungeon fighting? Runescape is becoming less original by the updates.

qeltar
Actually, I find the game far *less* kiddy than it was six months ago. Getting rid of PKing is probably one of the main reasons. Brave2
I don't know about becoming more "kiddier", but the sense of risk and adventure is certainly gone with all the recent "dumbing down". Part of the adventure for me was in not knowing what was "round the corner". Nowadays there are too many warnings about what is around the corner. Things like "Its dark in here - you need a light" or "Its dangerous ahead - do you really want to die?", and don't get me on the subject of the Wildy ditch. Lets face it, since the December updates (esp. gravestones), when was the last time you died and lost everything. I know I haven't because being a high level player with all the possible teleports/transportation available to me (and a vast knowledge of the geography of RS) I can get to anywhere in RS (with the exception of the God Wars Bosses room) before my gravestone disappears and I lose everything. Zierro
You're not looking at the big picture. What about Skill Capes, God Swords, and Summoning? There might be "childish" updates, but there are "grownup" ones too.
