RuneScape getting kiddier and kiddier???

You're not looking at the big picture. What about Skill Capes, God Swords, and Summoning? There might be "childish" updates, but there are "grownup" ones too.

first of all, and this is important, the fact that runescape is or may be becoming more "kiddier" is no excuse or reason to treat people badly or badmouth younger players for no reason at all. i say give people a chance and young players can enjoy the game as much as any player.

 

 

 

my sense is that as women that work for jagex come into the game they see a lot of questions and explanations needed and their "motherly instincts" take over pretty much and that's why i think most of these additions have been made. mod emilee i believe came up with the achievement diaries but i could be wrong about that. anyway, that's my take on it.

 

 

 

i think a lot of stuff has been added simply because it's needed for many players. jagex does wierd stuff sometimes like the way you get a fish for a fishbowl. and you get 1000 people trying to figure out how to get a fish etc. and sometimes it just saves energy and time explaining how to get it rather than making it into some kind of puzzle.

 

 

 

i would say the demographics for runescape have probably not changed much at all. still the same ages playing and of course we are getting older whereas the newest players starting out are where we were, not so long ago.

 

 

 

but i kind of agree that the kiddy language jagex uses sometimes like the chaos elemental getting mad about a gallery picture that wasnt created by the sender or bob and "his friends" the sandwich lady and the wise old man. that kind of thing, but meh.

 

 

 

i do look forward to a "mature" product that being mechscape and i hope it's good. sadly the loot and kill system was corrupted by jerks; so making up for that is difficult; but what's required is expertise. and as for runescape, seems to me that the content is geared towards mainstream family oriented type entertainment. and with their expansions into other languages, it kind of makes sense to keep things clean and family oriented.

But, yeah. Runescape seems to attract a younger audience for a lot of reasons; easy game play, easy to get on (no installation), and asking mommy for $5 instead of $15 a month seems a lot easier to get; butterfly kisses can only go so far. lol

 

 

 

Buuuut, I'd like to add something. Runescape isn't quite getting "kiddier," but I think that people just need to grow up; they're just plain immature. I wouldn't really consider a 15 year old a kiddie, but I noticed a lot of them do act that way. And you need to consider that nobody acts the same on the internet.

I was a kid when I started, umm, must of been about 14 or so, played for a few years, rs2 came out - quit for near 4 years - came back and now I'm 20 lol, or something like that.

I think the main reasons are this:

   [*:xwi7v9nh]Low-leveled updates - There have been many of these, and a lot of "dumbing down". While the tutoors and everything else may seem stupid now, I bet we would have appreciated them when we took our first steps into the RS world.

Jagex make updates which some people might think are ridiculous, while others think they are brilliant. They can't cater for everyone. The problem is that we seem to be criticising Jagex for every lower-leveled update they do. We all do it, anything that we wouldn't use we count as a bad update.

Sorry, but your mother has no idea what she's talking about, and probably has never seen a video game before. Runescape never looked anything like legos, even back in rsc.

I would not say RuneScape is getting more childish, but I would say it is becoming packed with younger players, who cannot construct a sentence and whine and moan at you if you join in on there mining spot or call them noobs because they cannot spell. on a more serios note. yes we are getting easier opdates, but there is also lots of high lvl content to do. your just only seeing the noob opdates ;)

Even if it is getting aimed towards a younger audience, you just have to move away from it. I don't seem to run into as many of these kids as you folks do.

 

 

 

Get out of the GE, stay away from F2P, and go to the more remote parts of members and you can find you're older crowd.

Haha got me there. I admit they do have some decent quests, although after their promise 4 years ago of a weekly update it just seems they'd be happy to throw in any old quest just to keep the promise. I haven't played in 2 years, so I no longer know if that's the case, but I do know it was the case for an exeptionally long period of time.

no they still give trash quests. its about 95 percent low level quests with the rare high level quest. when it should be 35 percent low, 35 percent mid, and 30 percent high level to keep everyone happy. but jagex seems more worried about the newbs. it has always been that way and always will be

You used the word "kiddier," which right off the bat tells me you're young, most likely around the age of 14-15.

 

 

 

Now, if 8 years olds are playing, we may have a problem. But you can't ever REALLY prove that, and the only thing you can do is ignore the immaturity or quit playing the game.
