jjrox32
Halo 2+3 were huge letdowns to me, although Halo 3 was probably the biggest. Nadril, have you played Halo 1 multiplayer for more than 20 minutes? There was so much depth and skill involved in that game that it's regarded as the best-ever competitive console shooter. ____
Perfect Dark Zero; biggest arse-raping of a franchise ever. RARE developers needed to be shot for that game :wall: I'm two minds between AoE3; on one hand it brought more strategy to the game with your deck for calling in supplies, reinforcements, etc from your home city but one the other it didn't feel like AoE typical would due to resource gathering and the general structure of the tech tree. I don't agree with the earlier comment about having to select the special attacks being tedius since I'm a keyboard shortcut [bleep] and when I compare it to AoM they're fairly level on the effect their altered gameplay did to the game. The God powers in AoM were just retarted and reminded me of super-weapon whoring in the C&C games, irritated me a lot that you can spam an enemy town with two of your God powers and send in a half-arsed army and win without a fight. Edit: The one thing I liked in AoM was that different units used more of your available population. Just like starcraft but with a population limit. re4p3r1
Zoo Tycoon 2. Loved the first one and its expansions, hated the new camera and tools in the second. It concentrated too much on first person veiws of the aimals and felt nothing like the first one. agreed. basically any of the sequels to the tycoon series were garbage especially the rollercoaster tycoon sequels *puke* the originals were real works of arts. and most of the spinoffs of the sims werent fun at all, maybe bustin out tho

I've played it plenty enough to get a good assessment of it, and I still just find it an average shooter. You guys need to realize that average does not mean worst game ever, it just means that it's nothing special. Doom 3?! That was my favorite out of all of them! Well, I had good memories of Doom 1 when i was small... Screaming my head off. Ugh Doom 3 was so horrible, I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. All it was was a theme park ride with scary monsters jumping at you, it completely killed the atmosphere that the first two games had.
jjrox32
Why exactly is Halo 1 mediocre? I can see why you think it might be overated, and that it was an extremely basic shooter. But it was fun.
Nadril
Why exactly is Halo 1 mediocre? I can see why you think it might be overated, and that it was an extremely basic shooter. But it was fun. It was kind of fun with friends. However it had a horrible single player campaign, a lack of depth (IMO) and a terrible online community. That coupled with the overwhelming idea that it is the best FPS ever and, yeah, it's pretty average. What I'm trying to say is there are a lot better FPS's out there. Unreal Tournament, for example, is the same basic idea (mostly online emphasis) and is futuristic but is so much more in depth then Halo (especially the 1st). rushrock
Hmm, Halo 3: It's the only Halo game I've played. The graphics are okay, and the multiplayer is pretty fun at times, so I'm happy with it, I guess. The community is large enough, it's not a very good one, but it's large. I love Forge. I love this. The levels of customation it offers makes for some very fun times with my friends. That's a big point for me: Halo 3 is very fun to play with friends. It's a very social game. I like all the Pokémon games, to be honest. But I always like going back to my Yellow version on my Game Boy SP (I won my Game Boy from an arcade game at a movie theater, it was pretty epic). The difference is pretty freaky. Sometimes my Yellow version freaks me out. :P
Faux
Halo 3 is fun as hell. I have about 5 RL friends who have the game and we'd play for an hour or so almost every other night. The best part is that there's always variation. We don't always shoot up other people, sometimes we go test tracks and just race or we play custom games like Zombies I've played Halo 1 and Halo 2. The storyline went downhill after the first one, but who cares? You don't buy Halo 3 for the story mode. You buy it for the multiplayer. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
jjrox32
@ Nadril: I can see where you're coming from. I personally think that the 1st game had the most depth out of any of them though. Halo 3 is just point-shoot-kill. Halo 1 had other factors that made it deeper than the other 2 i.e. learning to control spawns, timing weapons and powerups, 3sk, being able to grenade weapons to yourself from anywhere on the map, etc. I can understand how Halo 3 has a horrible online community made up of whiny 8-year olds, but Halo 1 had no online so you can't really complain about it having a bad online community :D
Lenin64
I thought the whole Halo storyline was pretty good...not super-great, of course, and you have to go beyond just the games to get it all, but still. Though perhaps the campaign itself lacked depth....I do rarely find myself replaying the missions. More on topic, I kind of agree with the Pokemon thing. It's just getting ridiculous now, though I admit to having at least 1 game from each generation. But now in 4, there's far too many, and some sound like the creators were running out of name ideas. Like Bidoof. I mean, wtf? And so many freaking legendaries.... Command the Murderous Chalices! The storyline went downhill after the first one, but who cares? You don't buy Halo 3 for the story mode. You buy it for the multiplayer. It's kind of funny. Single player in halo 1 simply rocked. I loved playing coop with friends in that game. We never played multi-player since single was simply a lot more fun. Then halo 2+3 come around and *gasp* suddenly halo is a multi-player game. Oh wow! Who knew? You're actually supposed to like, not play the single player campaign, that makes perfect sense! no seriously, cut the crap and stop trying to dodge the bullet by pretending the problem doesn't exist. Halo 3 is not TF2, TF2 is a multi-player game. Halo 3 is a multi-player and single-player game. I know Halo 3 single player took a beating from Yhatzee but why are people trying to ignore the problem? Cowards. Halo 3 campaign is meant to be played. And you know what? I did have some fun playing Halo 3 on SINGLE PLAYER simply because of that AWESOME battle against the 2 scarabs. I think my friend and I replayed that mission at least 15 times to the point where one person would land the hornet on the scarab while the other person single handedly took out all the enemies on board, then proceeded to get back on the hornet before the scarab blew to pieces. We tried variations where I would be in the hornet while he's on the scarab or vice versa. One time even he wasn't going to get the hornet there on time so I ran up the back of the scarab and JUMPED off the back right as it exploded! God that was fun. Almost reminded me of the times I spent with another friend as we played around with banshees in all sorts of ways in Halo 1. I guess I'm just a special case, but I tried Halo 3 multi-player for a bit with some friends and, after finally getting my orientation in the confusing levels (if the custom map builders become civil engineers I guarantee the world will end) found myself shooting people for ages giving them enough time to turn around and kill me. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that I'm more use to COD4 multi-player (as I'm told that one hinders the other). Some of the modes of gameplay were fun, others were too unbalanced to be fun. It's pretty much all about who grabs the cool re-spawning vehicles/weapons first. It wasn't long before we got bored and switched back to Campaign again. Ratchet: Gladiator, just plain shooting, missing all the fun Disagree. That's another game which lacked the feel that the first 3 games had. BUT made up for it by introducing several awesome things: Weapon customizing: wrecking ball with INSANE damage radius? Dual handguns with INSANE weapon speed? Hell yeah that was fun Co-op: It was always some kind of dream of mine to have a Ratchet and Clank Co-op game so I'm pleased (pulled an all-nighter to accomplish that with a friend, and that was so fun). Homage to Battle Royal: That makes it even more awesome Now if only the two commentators would just SHUT the hell up. I can see why people would dislike it though, I mean Ratchet Gladiator and Jak X were both "black sheep" of their respective games where the entire game is dissected and only one fun aspect of the game is fully exploited. Personally I liked combat in Ratchet (even though the overall experience is the best) so I liked Ratchet gladiator, but I didn't like the racing in Jak 2-3 (because I suck at it, my sister can do them better) so I passed on Jak X (although I still watched all the cutscenes from the game on Youtube). 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! I'm getting sick and tired at people claiming the single player doesn't exist as a pitiful attempt to denounce any criticism towards single player. All Halo games are all intended for a single player and multi-player experience. Why? Because they have both single player and multi-player! Some people buy the game for multi-player experience and some buy it (or use to buy it back when Halo 1 was popular) for the single player campaign. You're acting like you're mad at me when I didn't develop the game  Calm the [bleep] down. Mad? Nah, it was more like a disappointment. You're just using the same annoying excuse that many Halo fans use and frankly I had hoped for better from you. 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed!
