Today, I continued my search for good indie rock.

I like the Killers though.

If you do actually like really indie stuff try Neutral Milk Hotel. Not everyone's thing, but truly amazing.

Yeah, the Killers are definitely indie rock. Why are you criticizing my taste in music? That just doesn't make sense. They have plenty of good songs. I think Neutral Milk Hotel is meh anyway.

thats just being really gay. search the term for rnb, the rnb today doesnt stick to it. but music genres evolve and its commonly accepted that indie is like hipstery rock pop bands. like the strokes :)

 

my mates just got into the recording industry and he uses indy music in the way u quote it, and its just irritating! the fact it comes form an independant label says nothing about the genre or sound..

I said they were "barely" rock; by that I mean yes some of their music has some rock aspects.

Also, using your picture you contradict yourself. You can see that the Killers are signed to a record label thus making them non independet or not indie? Nope, you had to go and conviently cut that segment about.

Another point, the article taken on the left is talking about their first album. This was probably before they became so mainstream.

Tbh I really don't want to argue about such a trival point but if your arrogance cannot stand the refusal of an argument please send me a PM so this stays on topic.

Today I spent most of the day at home coding and watching dev blog videos of Gyrovorbis on youtube. I started working on my item system for my game. Here are three possible ways of loading items I could do:

 

Way 1: Standard text

My engine would loop through the file parsing its contents line by line and execute anything between the lua tags.

I will probably end up using XML so I can export from a future item/map editor and easily perform IO operations without too much hassle. Also it would look cleaner IMHO. I could easily whip up lua chunks for multiple items in the same file instead of using something like mushroom.lua, item.lua, etc. My game engine is going good so far. I output random game data to a console right now. For example, when i trigger a player move event. The console will output something like:

I mainly want to get the script , entity, npc, player, math, and physics in the engine before I worry about networking, graphics and audio. While I am working on those parts of the game, I can have my buddy design and script npc dialogs and quests and instanced boss fights. Not many people here probably care, nor understand what I am doing, but once I get graphics and audio with this, it will be awesome.
