If aforementioned religious folk were capable of reasoned debate, they wouldn't be religious. You know that and I know that. Trying to argue with someone who obviously doesn't understand the principles of logical argument will never, ever turn out well.

This sentence basically proves you're "that guy". ;)

No, "that guy" is the guy who goes around constantly starting religious arguments.

So you're any better by implying that all religious people are incapable of logic?

When did I say I was better? All I did was tell dizzle to not be that guy. As you can see, I am not that guy. I can imply what I want, and it is my opinion that religious people are incapable of logic, but that's completely besides the point.

Not sure whether to agree or disagree.

There ARE intelligent religious people, but these are usually people that haven't examined their beliefs at all. I've looked around a fair bit, and a lot of former Catholics/Christians/Other people from Abrahamic religions say that the reason they stopped believing was because they read the Bible.

Oh come off it. A quick search on amazon will lead you to thousands of authors who've made it their life's work to understand their religion from a philosophical, scientific, and biblical perspective. I know a great deal of religious people, and many of them have considered their faith quite deeply.

Not mentioning, of course, that implying religious people are incapable of logic is a great way to start an argument.

Late last night (could have been today, technically), I learned that some of the people closest to me fairly regularly smoke mary-jew-wanna. Not only am I disgusted that they'd be so willing to dirty their own bodies (my simplified opinion; not looking for debate), I feel sorta annoyed that they wouldn't even invite me! (and give me the chance to DENY THEM).

Anyway, this came from my prom date. Apparently she's clean (except for one time), which is good. It's looking like we'll end up together, but I don't wanna end up messing things up before prom. Things are sorta nice now, y'know?

Feeling confused and angered at my friends, I found that the only person I could connect with was Holden Caulfield, so I bought the Catcher in the Rye. And then StarCraft II. So maybe I can just ignore the precious things...

When the only person you can connect with is Holden Caulfield I think you need to talk to someone.

Well I'm talking to said prom date... I'm just not good with actual relationships, and I don't want to screw something up before prom even occurs >_>

And I wrote precious where I meant to write previous. That's sort of a big difference.

Not that they are incapable of logic, more that they are incapable of examining their beliefs with a rational, logical, critical mindset - because, I believe, if they could do this, they would no longer be religious.

And that's all I have to say on the subject.

Well, I must say if that's what you believe you might want to do exactly what you're suggesting - I think you'll find it untrue.

But yes, I suppose this is neither the time nor the place.

I can occasionally devour a Taco John's hardshell taco or two, but I've sort of moved on to meat and potato burritos, or more recently grilled burritos.

P.S.- I know it may be *slightly* more authentic (They both suck at that) and all, but Taco Bell is dumb and horrible.

Today I didn't do much of anything. I worked, played some Minecraft, and did some dungeoneering in RS (blasphemy, I know :P)

It's 5.21 in the [bleep]ing morning. What am I doing up?

Oh, rowing practice, that's right. Nothing quite like doing dryland at 6 in the morning on a monday.

I think the problem might be on your side.

Anyhow, I know how you feel because I used to think the same a couple of years ago when I found out my best childhood friends smoked pot. Sure, they told me themselves, but I still got kind of mad at them. But after a while, I realized that pot or not, those guys had been and still were increadibly good friends. Pot didn't change that fact. All effect it had is when they smoked it, and I realized that it would be childish to cut ties with them over something so small. Would you have cut ties if you found they smoked normal cigarretes on their own? To you, it's essentially the same thing, because them smoking pot affects you as much as them smoking cigarretes, that is, it doesn't affect you at all (unless you hanged out with them while they were high, in which case I'd be amazed you didn't find out).

If anything, you should be mature enough to understand that its their decition, and accept it. Don't let that little thing get in the way of your friendship.

For my ISU book, I just went from Atlas Shrugged to Animal Farm. I'm pretty sure I just saved myself about 40 hours of reading.
