unkn0wnwarrior
There's a group who protest abortion 24/7 outside my sister's workplace. They've never approached her, but they would regret it if they tried. Most days, even I regret talking to her.
Hedgehog
We always had a bunch of protesters (and people passing out fliers as well) in one plaza on my college campus. You'd be walking to class, and 2 or 3 people would try to talk to you by the time you reached the other side. I think it's best if you just put your headphones in and don't even acknowledge their existence. I'm pretty sure their entire MO is to get you to argue with them, so that it draws more attention to them. If you ignore them, they'll move on to somebody else. You kinda feel like a dick for intentionally ignoring someone, but at least you won't get harassed.

I genuinely thought she was going to talk about a charity or something. I'm happy to ignore people I do it all the time. I just know this would never be allowed on my home campus literally not in a million years. Also the other two people who came here on exchange from my uni have both left as they didn't really enjoy being here anymore so I'm the last one standing. I do feel sad about it because they were kind of my reminders of home. It was good to have people from home even though we made our own experiences, we flew here together and we were so excited so it was a shame. I'm relieved to say I've cancelled my British bank card and a new one's been sent out to me. Awesome news. Noxx
I've had a strange amount of luck the past week, in terms of getting dates. The Greek girl called me up 2 days ago and asked if i wanted to go for a drink. On the same day i ran into an old friend of my ex, while having lunch with a client. We didn't have any time to really talk so the conversation was limited to a hi and a bye. But when i got back to the office she sent me a message suggesting we meet up for a drink over the weekend so we can "catch up". I found it strange because we never really talked in the past, but i agreed nonetheless. The one i'm proudest of though is the date i arranged earlier today. I was checking Facebook when i noticed a girl online. Someone whom i've been tempted to ask out a few times before, but never followed through. She's a few years older than i am (about 10, to be exact), and for some reason i find that really intimidating. Probably because i just assume she's looking for something serious, and i'm really not. But i decided to give it a go nonetheless. I came up with a pretty silly method of asking her out without being too direct about it, and surprisingly it worked. So i have a date with her tomorrow night. I'm still kinda nervous about it, and still really surprised that it worked. Looking forward to it though. Estonian dude
Went to the physiotherapist again today. Turns out that by accidental loss of balance and thus stepping with my bodyweight onto my right knee on Monday I might have messed up half the surgery and torn apart my medial meniscus again. For background, it had a pretty much been ripped in half and was sewn together with the surgery.I might need knee prosthetics even earlier than estimated... In other news, apparently I walk around too much. And I have developed first blisters on my hands for walking with crutches. And I might have to be for over a week longer on crutches than originally estimated. Which is [bleep]ing awful, since I need to learn to walk again then, as it will have been well over month on only crutches... But I can't even support on my right foot for at least two and a half more weeks.I seriously hope it won't mess up my left foot with all that extra load. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. MuffinMaddy
I think I'll be really utilising my weekends here because nobody ever socialises in the week as everyone's so hardworking. This isn't a bad thing - it's made me work harder because there's nothing else going on. In order not to double post: I had a really [bleep]ing good night man. I should hang out with Canadians more often! We walked like half an hour to the bus stop in the snow but I really like the girls I went out with. We saw an acoustic band which was a nice change from the usual club hits and we finished off with a burger and a free ride home. Noxx
I've been watching a lot of documentaries lately. Mostly things about serial killers, satanism, cults, Charles Manson, etc. Also recently watched a few interviews and documentaries about Marilyn Manson which led me to finally watch Bowling for Columbine. Been wanting to watch it for a long time, but it's hard for me to get in the right mood for it. But i decided to give it a go today. It was really shocking. I don't really get emotional about things at all. I can watch things that'll upset a lot of people and it'll have little or no affect on me, but for some reason Bowling for Columbine really got to me.

muggiwhplar
I had to write a paper on Bowling for Columbine in high school. Basically, take the movie with a grain of salt. It's very misleading and biased. It's more of an emotional shock piece than something educational or accurate
Randox
May protesters never discover universities in Atlantic Canada. Not that they never happen, but they're always conducted by the students, and they're (mercifully) very rare. I expect we are blessed in this way by not having any large cities or universities, so no one bothers to come bother us. Sometimes we get, I'm going to call them religious recruiters, but they're pretty good about taking no for an answer, especially if you look like you are going to class (it's a pretty good excuse on a university campus). Maddy, that sounds rough if all your exchange mates(?) have gone home. I knew a couple last year (as in, lived with), and they introduced me to the local exchange student sub culture I was never really aware of. Kudos to you for being able to stick with it too. Honestly it's been hard and I've wanted to go home at certain points but I feel like it would be cheating if I went home in the middle. I'm past the halfway point and my moods pretty much determine my decisions which is why I've decided to go away for a week in February, recalibrate and go from there. The exchange student community was a close knit one because everyone understands where you're coming from with things like anxiety and adjusting to a new educational system. I'm feeling more optimistic about the rest of my time here (a friend said she'd go skiing with me) even though I'm still really excited to go home. MuffinMaddy
I'm really happy because I did well in Pharmacology and Psychology and I got a place on campus for my final year of University so it's been a good day.I was not expecting to do well so when I got the email that grades were in, I was ready to contact my home Uni and ask what happens when you fail so I really didn't have much hope for myself at all. As well as this, I had the night out where I lost my wallet because I was trying so hard to forget about that exam, so it turns out that I did have something to celebrate after being done with that monstrosity of an exam. I'm going back to band practice today after skiving off the last two weeks. Skull
Got a job. They didn't hire me for a full-time position, but I'm going to be working 30 hours a week. Pay isn't incredible either, but the goal is to have been promoted to a full-time position with better pay by May. I don't know if that will even be possible but it's what I'm going to aim for. 1 [bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp
