Idk, just the cool new trendy haircut. Last year undercut, this year man bun. I've always thought I look better with longer hair so I'll embrace it. It'd be really convenient if my ability to grow facial hair wasn't shit, but oh well.

Gotta get that beard game up to snuff

Nice new avatar, Rpg.

Re: programming.

I always seem to learn better by analyzing a code, replacing pieces, watching how the output changes, seeing what breaks it...studying a manual never has the same effect as actually doing something.  I'll never be a professional coder but maybe it will help me better in remembering what I do recall.

Making vector charts and memorizing formulas got me an A in physics. Also my balsa wood bridge was the second most efficient school wide. I should have gone to school for civil engineering...

Yeah math and physics is pretty easy if you are even mildly interested in learning it. (ie: doing more then the bare ass minimum your teacher tells you to do).

But then again I guess that goes for just about anything.

You say that, but I assume you're fairly decent at math, so it's easy for you to just be like "It's easy if you just put in the work." But if you had a bad teacher in elementary who didn't correctly teach you addition, or even worse, a bad class in middle/high school and didn't learn algebra, you are 100% ducked for every math heavy class from that point on. And algebra is legitimately very difficult to learn, there's a lot of abstraction away from 3 apples and 3 apples make 6 apples, and that abstraction is difficult to learn if you don't have the right mind.

If you want to learn it you will.  Buy a few textbooks and find good youtube teachers, such as PatrickJMT. Join a few math forums and devote 100's of hours to learning. Ask them annoying questions like "I get why 1x3 = 3 but can you give me a good reason why 0x3 = 0".

I've failed loads of math classes. In middle school, high school, college, etc. Its funny I have a belief that I'm good at math and even though reality would say that I'm pretty garbage at it, that belief has always lead me to go further in math. Don't expect to be taught learn to teach yourself.  And you learn by copying people until it makes sense.

Just like riding a bike.. I originally learned to program from copying peoples code who wrote bot scripts for a very popular browser based MMO some of us might have heard of. I went on youtube and learned the syntax and copied peoples code, memorizing what different things were doing until I "got it". To the point where now that I'm getting an education most of the programming stuff is really easy for me and its infrequent for me to learn syntax that I don't already know.

I'm good at math. Like, not super amazing, but it isn't what's holding me back in physics. Physics is just really hard and I'm really lazy and I just want to get through this year.

Anyway, I got an 8/20 on the exam. Sounds bad, but, if my calculations are correct, it was enough to clinch a C- in the class.

I think I shall take to just posting the weirdest questions in this thread... Anyone have or know where to find a free, decent 3D Care Bear model? Yes it's a bizarre request, but I'm looking for one, ideally low poly, and yeah I could make one but there's got to be one somewhere, or even a game I can rip one from...

/weirdness for today

Going to a friends' gallery event for his photography work, free alcohol and food too which is good because I have no food and money until Sunday morning :D

Would I be wrong in assuming that it's more an issue of applying the math? I've always imagined that it's more important to know why and how each formula works the way it does than it is to memorize everything.

I mean, I found it more interesting and a fair bit easier to learn when I could connect the numbers to something tangible.

Even when you understand it well, it's still hard to get a good grade. The average was an 11.

Well that sucked. The gallery was good, but one friend decided to bring along his little drunk twink friend who did nothing but insult everyone's looks all night because he's "a model" and was nothing more then a pretentious little shit.

Bad enough I'm self-destructive and self-conscious about myself, I didn't have to put up with that shit too.

Ran my best time in 7 months (I do the same run every day, timing myself) this morning.  Wow people pissed me off last night...

I slept for >15 hours last night and now I feel weird.

Got my hair cut at this edgy barber place. Told the dude I was going for the topknot/manbun style so I needed the top to stay the same length but the back and sides shortened as I'm waiting for it to grow out. He said he was going to do it pretty short, and I'm like yeah that's fine.

Now I am Macklemore. Looks like its beanie time for a few days...

The same thing pretty much happened to me yesterday too. I went in for a hair cut with the idea to just touch up what I had going on, a grown out undercut/tight fade hybrid like cut. I told the guy not to take any length off top but texturize it a bit to cut my dead ends or whatever. By the time he turned me around to face the mirror, he had cut off up to an inch and a half of growth on top. By the end of the cut, I left with a pretty generic, conservative haircut.

I bite the bullet, walked back to the place a few hours later and had the same guy trim my sides down super short to attempt to get my top to side hair ratio back to what it was before it was butchered.

I'm not a Macklemore, but with my glasses I look like Jack Antonoff from Fun, which is so far from what I was going for.. but hair does grows back.

Where did you go? Rudys?

Haha yep, the U-District Rudy's. They're usually fine, but the guy did mention that he was pretty new. May consider the Cap Hill location next time, they were good the last time I went there.

I went out a bought the Xbone Cowadoody bundle because I am a fiscally responsible adult

Hope it came with mountain dew and doritos

Yeah thought so ha, the U-district location is good, but not the best because it probably has about the fewest chairs and is the busiest. Capital Hill's location is my favorite when I'm home, I've never left disappointed. I also went to Rudy's but the location here in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.

I need a haircut, I might check out Rudy's in cap hill then
