Da Pirates
Why do they do this when they edit a users' post? Can they just post in normal colour and put "mod edit" by it. n_odie
With the website corrections forum, a correction may be made. Sometimes that correction influences other parts of the site that a crewbie may remember and fix. This doesn't need to push the topic to the top of the forum however so a edit allows for more so notes to others. The reason it is red is that I don't reread everyone of my post but when I see red letters it "burns" my eyes and I read it. Red is associated with stop. I think it as simple as that. As far as mods go, I don't know. I would guess most corrections are done in private so if you see a mod edit it is more so a reminder to the poster and to you as well. :) MOD EDIT: I did this just to see if you would see it... meol
When a mod edits another user's post, most probably they're breaking a rule. The colour is in there for a good reason; one, the offender is more likely to notice the edit. How often would you re-read that post of yours if it wasn't in red? PoorLepRecon
I agree that the red color makes it harder to read. Why not green instead of red Even cyan is much easier to read than the red Please consider making it a different color just so it is easier to read. n_odie
Where as Red is easier on mine: [hide=][/hide] Red is in the world we live in. I would like to show you the following images: [hide=][/hide] or [hide=][/hide] :?: I see where you are coming from, and tbh I may start using in the little stuff I do but the point is red is more of a STOP & NOTICE color.  RIP MichaelangelopolousThanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig! jemathonical
I think the colours are fine, if they edited it in with the saem colour it would be harder to notice. But if some people skins make some colours difficult to see, then they can just bold the text. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it! Rainy_Day
It is done so that it catches the user's eye. If it blended into their post via the 'normal' colour, then it would go unnoticed. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)RIP Michaelangelopolous
dsavi
Cyan is almost impossible to read while using Prosilver. Maybe make a bbcode only available to mods called Mod-edit or something? Adjusts the color to something that grabs attention based on the background color of the forum style. But in all honesty, I don't think this is needed. Well there is an ability to leave a reason for editing that can be used, but I find even that tends to blend too much into the post aswell. I guess no matter the colour, it is likely to not be as viewable in other skins. Perhaps if we use the bold tags along with the colour tags, it will make it slightly easier? Kill_Life
It's been given a different color to make it easier to notice. The color is whatever we like to use. Most use red, Turtlefemm uses green, depends on personal choise. And I agree with n_odie, it depends on the theme you use to easely notice certain colors. InkofDeath
They use red because they know how much it burns our eyes. It's all part of Kill Life's 'DeathLine' thing. Conspiracy! :o Red, Orange, and yellow are the best in most cases to use, also purple is a good one to use...In my opinion if I were modding, it would depend on what the topic is about, or what was in the post, so as long as the colour works, it really doesn't matter. tripsis
You cannot request specific colours because one that may look better for you, may look worse for someone else. Moderators are allowed to do this because if they edit a post in the default colour, the changes will probably go unnoticed. And if you reread the rules, I think you'll find that moderators are not the only people who may use different colours. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

D. V. Devnull
My thoughts follow... It burns my eyes when I see. Better get rid of your avatar then buddy. ;) LOL!!! Funniest thing I've heard yet. However, on a more serious note... :| ... Red on white works just fine (which is why Mlbfan's avvy, and mine, works) ... But semi-dark red on the background of the Tip.It theme? That just makes it hard to read, in which case a user may not learn the lesson intended by the Moderator. And for a user to learn, they have to be able to read. Last I checked, if a person's eyes are burned, then it stops their reading. Why? Human nature causes a person to ignore something on a page that they'd have to strain their eyes to view. Further, it can cause the kind of anger that leads to additional (although accidental) rule-breaking. Although, I just noticed that a red-orange (or dim orange) color with bold might work... What do the rest of you think of it??? Doesn't seem awful on the eyes, and it will get the message across, I think. :-s ~D. V. Wisp
For god sakes. It's a line or two of red text, it won't hurt your eyes. Need to be serious here, if red actually burns your eyes or hurts them, you really need to get them checked them out. Hegemony-Spain
misterxman
It's not too big of a deal to see a post or two with some red font is it? I don't think having to enforce 20+ mods to post in the right color for one user's bad encounters with red font is a fair plan. Shazarabbit
To be honest there really isn't a reason for moderators to use colors etc to notify in the post of the edit, whenever a post is edited it says at the bottom that the post was edited by Moderator Name and you can put a reason. Laikrob
That is not very visible at all, as it is below his signature. Otherwise I would have used that. :) We don't usually edit posts unless they contain spam, bad words or other rule breakings that might need a standing warning to prevent others from posting similarly in the same topic. For now I stick to my red bolded, as it is the one that stands out best on the themes we have. If there could be a "moderator" colour that changed to suit each theme, I would certainly use that. You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now? Dragontotem
I agree that the red color makes it harder to read. Why not green instead of red ahh, i see where you are coming from. i just checked it to see if i have reason to whine at you or not ^_^ He's right. Green is better for your eyes when using tip.it themed forum skin. I would suggest that make a moderator-edit button, just as laila suggested, code it so if a person is using tip.it theme, it would show as green, if not, make it look like red.
